    Any thoughts about the monkey footage? I reckon it's amazing. My arm gets sore holding the camera still to capture the takeoff or slat retraction for 10 minutes.

      It takes a very very patient and dedicated person to film wildlife! I vaguely remember watching something years and years ago of a setup in Africa somewhere where the person was basically in this cage/hut thing, fully camouflaged, for hours and hours, in the heat, filming lions I think??? And some days he'd have a couple of minutes worth of footage only. Crazy! But these people can spend months in the wilderness. So hats off to them... especially when you get footage like the monkey jumping into the river!

I love waking up and seeing that there’s only 2 maybe 3 hours before landing. Food and service are great but it’s the flat bee that’s my no.1 priority. Couldn’t care less about IFE., always take a good book.

    Nice video. I chose to fly on Qantas on my way to Australia and back in order to watch my wife compete on one of the U.S. teams at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. It was a class act all the way especially when I checked in for my flight back to the U.S. when the nice lady at check-in didn't charge me anything for the excess baggage I had after my wife loaded me up with all of her dirty laundry since I had to fly back before she did. All I had to do was to mention that I was there to watch my wife compete.

    Nice to see you could get a seat because after six weeks of waiting hours for the phone to be answered on numerous calls to customer service and being told it would be fixed but wasn't and the promised callbacks not coming either we still do not have tickets or conformation for our flights to LAX in two weeks time using our Qantas pass. Here is a good one, the customer service operator in FIJI says her changes that will fix it will be sent to the ticketing office in NEW ZEALAND but it will take FIVE DAYS. QANTAS THE NATIONAL CARRIER? A TOTAL MYTH!!

    Great to see you back on an international flight. I especially enjoyed the footage of the FJ A330 from the Qantas lounge. Fiji’s economic recovery has thankfully begun but sadly, in many other Pacific countries that also rely heavily on tourism, it has not. I’m looking forward to the rest of your videos from this trip. Cheers.

    @bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I did this flight a few years ago on the A380. I was told that the lack of wifi is due to inconsistent availability over this area of the Pacific. Until service becomes more reliable and available the entire trip Qantas feels it's better just not to deal with it.

    • @bradleynoneofyourbizz5341
      @bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@onehappytraveler6207 Just because it's available over one part of the Pacific does not mean it's available over all of it. The DFW-SYD route is not the same as from the west coast. It goes southwest over Mexico before heading out over the ocean. There is a huge area with (at the time, 6 years ago) very spotty satellite coverage. Airlines make money from charging for WiFi service. If Qantas could make a buck off of it they would be offering it. Think how irritated you get when your WiFi at home keeps cutting in and out. Now immagine a few hundred people on a plane all experiencing the same thing. Talk about air rage!

    Economy Is fine for anything of about 6 hrs or less, & business class could be a great option for anything well over 6 hrs . Not cheap, particularly if you only pay cash, but if you have the amount of points needed , its the best way to maximise their use . I'm flying back to Indonesia in about 3 months & will be using FF points to cover my return flights

    I envy you Paul because I'm still locked in my house not having the chance to fly yet, but this was definitely a great review especially with the wonderful service you've experienced in Qantas from Australia to Texas, especially with you being among the people supporting the return in travel demand! Anyway, if you had the chance to plan a trip to Europe one day, (specifically London, whenever that may be), I'd suggest you to fly American, United, or Delta from Sydney to London Heathrow and compare how it's like to fly between Australia and the UK with a stopover in an American airport and compare it with transiting in a Middle Eastern hub. Enjoy your trip in Texas and the rest of America!

    Great review! Does the armrest on the window/wall side (your right arm) lower so that it’s level with the seat? I know with the seats closer to the isle, the left arm rest lowers. I’m wondering if the same feature is available on the window seats right side so it gives you a bit more shoulder space when lying down, or hip space while seated if you’ve got a big bum.

    Paul, I notice that you seem to have an add-on len to your gopro. Can you illuminate me on its function? I just got a gopro fairly recently and am still on the starting end of the learning curve. Thanks.
