Oh my god it all makes sense now. I've always felt like hovers were supposed to be played something like this, but it never seemed to work. Until I learned that tech about OBing and letting inertia carry you, this is the logical conclusion!. You can definitely do this with mixing in an OB core too.
Another trick that many seem to miss is that by cycling between horizontal and diagonal walking in the Playstation trilogy, you can very easily dodge missiles. The jerky walking is actually a huge benefit that was sadly not replaced in the PS2 games when walking became smooth. It takes some trial and error to get the timing down but it's well worth figuring out for your biped of choice.
tbh, missiles in original trilogy were only good at range or if you ran away from them, like at a plane, going right at the ac would almost always avoid them and they didnt have another weapon to fire at the same time Sort of like ace combat or other plane game missiles, i think thats how they based them ps2 tracking worked so much better
Hover legs are very fun. Sadly they have yet to make a return and I doubt they will return for Armored Core 6. But in the games that does have them they do take getting used to. But get good at them they have good energy usage while keeping mobility.
yes, but i always viewed the break animation as a penalty for not going into the air at the end instead of a dodge, i felt like an idiot when i realized it by accident
Great stuff Lynx. You know Armored Core is the goat when guys who’ve played them for hundreds of hours still discover new ways to play it.

I know, I always thought the break was a nerf, it was INTENTIONAL
We shunned this great gift

I love the hover legs
Great video, thanks! Unfortunate last fight, so close to damage-less.
i know XD I hit a damn wall

I tend to use a weak generator for those legs so they don't overheat. Low energy output and capacity but at least heat management is easier.
