  • Carding that first birdie is an achievement all golfers cherish for a lifetime... if they can remember it. Erik Anders Lang revisits the very hole where it happened on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United Airlines.
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail transformed the entire state of Alabama, and it also happens to be the site of EAL's first circle on the scorecard. Nostalgia notwithstanding, Erik calls this one of golf's greatest road trips.

When I was a kid growing up in Montgomery, I won a radio contest for picking Mike Weir to win the Masters in 2003. The prize was an RTJ trail pass and a new pair of golf shoes. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable experience strolling down the first fairway at The Judge in new Footjoys with my dad.

I’m 46, brand new golfer. My first birdie was at Hounds Lake Country Club, Aiken, South Carolina. I’ve been playing for 6 weeks. Golf is all I can think about. It all started when I was gifted 2 tickets for the first day of tournament play at The Masters. I was absolutely blown away. I said to myself, I want to be a part of this. My 12 year old son and my beautiful wife all started together. Now we are starting to plan trips just to play golf. Golf is quite simply, magical.

The feeling when you get the first birdie is amazing, I started in June and hit my first birdie (sloppy one) on a par 5, I hit my first clean birdie just last week. Par 4, 200 yd 3i of the tee, 140 7i onto the green and a 6ft putt for my first birdie on a par 4.

Don’t have a picture or memory of my first birdie after almost 30 years of playing. However I have my sons first birdie on video when he was six. He will turn 11 in a few weeks. We play together all the time. We both witnessed each other’s first hole in one and we love watching your videos. Every time we play and get to a par 3, he says ace cam is live! Love the videos Erik!

Haven't been that way yet, but looks like fun. Northern Michigan is my pick for a golf adventure. Man, I had to really think when my first birdie was, and it is really sad for me to realize that I can't remember. I began golfing just over 35 years ago...and yeah don't remember the first one. Got to make sure we really celebrate my son's first birdie when that happens.

Started golf several years ago then moved to California and didn't touch a club at all, then picked it up again this year with Covid and moving back to the East Coast. Hit my first Birdie in July on my local course (Jonathan's Landing) with my Dad on a Par 3, Hole 13 - 140ish yards with a 7 iron, put it to 3 feet and knocked it in!

Remember it like it was yesterday. Well actually because it was day before yesterday, Sunday. 34 deg, hole 9 at Meadowview, par 3. Seven iron hit and rolled within 2 feet. Birdie putt down. My friend thought I won the Masters... Same day same round, hole 15 par 4, birdie. Two in the same round. Now, to some that may be usual. For me, I started my golf career in June, of 2020. Great channel with great content.

Thank you for visiting the central region of The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. RTJ Capitol Hill in Prattville is my home course but it sure is nice to know I'm a member at 11 sites, all 26 golf courses, and 468 holes of some of the best golf period. Along with the golf is a world-class staff that takes care of you, start to finish. Thanks to Eric for taking pictures with my son Cole in Prattville. It was a highlight of life experiences for him. Big shout out to Mike Beverly and Riley Keagle (and any others) for making things happen.

i live in St Louis MO ...for many years in the spring when golf fever hit us hard we would take 20-30 of my buddies and play a week on the trail...36 holes a day on a different course every day. The Judge at Capital hill was my favorite opening hole .No. 1 tee is a par 4 with 200 foot drop off the tee box with the Alabama river on the right and thick woods on the left. Awesome opening hole!!!!!

I was 11, visiting my snow bird grandparents down in Coco Beach, FL. My grandfather was a member at Baytree National at the time. Hole 12, about a 130 yard tee shot that I put within 6 feet and I sank the putt with my brand new Nike T100 that I got the day before, still have that putter and will pull it out every now and then if Im not rolling my gamer well. One of my fondest memoires of my grandfather is golfing with him every day that trip.

I don’t remember my first birdie but I remember the first birdie after a 13 year break from the game. My son decided he wanted to try out for his freshman golf team. He inspired me to get back into golf. The first course we played at together I got a birdie. At the time it meant more to me than it did to him as he was just learning the game. It was a moment that I’ll never forget. My only witness was my son. That’s all that matters.

I do remember my first birdie. It was at Dixie Red Hills in St. George, UT, on hole 7, a dogleg right. This is a course, and a hole that EAL just played on his road trip through Utah, the best 18 holes in Southern Utah! I was 12 years old, and back then you could play as many holes as you want for $7 because it was 110 degrees every day. It's a par 34 course, I shot 38...my best round at that time and my first birdie.

17 years old, Brevofield, hole 4. I was only playing for about a month and it was as lucky as lucky gets but that feeling is always there every time I play that hole

@@kelseyselna3906 that’s the one! My slice was so bad when I first started that I was able to drive the green 😅

Yes. Shot my first birdie last week Friday actually 🤙
First birdie was also a 4 - 3rd hole of Randpark Bushwillow.
Also broke 100 after 2 months back and 15 years off.

My first birdie was at Trysting Tree in Corvallis, Oregon. I don't remember that super clearly but I will always remember my first Eagle which was on the 18th hole of Sheep Ranch this past August!

I played Ross Bridge over fall break two years ago! I wasn’t familiar with the trail but my dad decided for us to play it. I want to go back and play them all sometime! Love the vids!👊🏼

LSU Golf Course, No. 7, Par 4, 2012. 2 5-Hybrids onto the green and a 15-footer breaking from right to left about 5 inches. Never forget it.

I remember! Par 3 number 17 at bayou DeSiard cc summer of 2012. I worked there as a lifeguard right out of high school. It was my first summer playing golf and I hit it to two feet. I was so scared over that putt but luckily got it😂
