Jim, Tony Avent seems like such a great guy, and his knowledge of plants is truly incredible. I was so interested in what he was talking about that I didn't actually pause to read his T-shirt until the video was nearly over. How funny... he must also have a wonderful sense of humor!🤣😂🤣
This guy’s enthusiasm is infectious. I am inspired by his passion for plants and just successfully ordered several plants from Plant Delights. They arrived promptly and in perfect condition.
Fascinating and amazing summer garden. I learned more about summer growing flowers 💐 and gardening .thank Jim putnam and Stephany for sharing summer ☀️ beautiful flowers.
I have an ever-growing list of plants I need to order from Plant Delights. What a cool place. Must visit some day. We are lucky to have people that care about plants like this & make them accessible to the public.
I really appreciate these tours, Jim and the time you take out of your schedule to do them. They are very informative. I purchased the curcuma plant (tumeric) for the first time this year and hadn't realized it's a perennial. (I'm in zone 8a). Excited to plant out in the garden after it's done in my Summer containers!
In NW FL PENSACOLA FL ZONE 8b/9 I have many planted in ground have had 3/4 seasons come back every year am sun not full sun but are just amazing foliage and pops of vivid color all summer! Easy Peary and just ignore them unless we have drought make water just love them!!! Will take some freeze also!!
Always enjoy two premier gardeners talking plants. Tony has introduced so many, he's still busy at it too! Thanks guys! I got a Tripartita some years ago, clearly in the Arum family. Not only does it spread, it seeds. Here I was wondering why my Trillium foliage was still looking good when it was sneaky babies I don't want competing in my native beds. So many things have been sold over the years, great to see natives finally getting some attention. Here in N. Georgia, the Whorled Coreopsis seems an unrecognized star. Never flashy but flowers a long time, handles sun or part shade & tough as nails. Anybody breeding this?
Tony makes me want every plant he talks about! Could you please do one of these tours before the Fall open house dates? I have been to the Spring and Summer open houses, but this will be my first visit in the Fall. Would love to get a preview of what’s in bloom and get my shopping list together! Thanks for the tour!
“You don’t only have to have a spring garden” - it’s funny, in Georgia most of my garden is a summer garden - roses, hydrangeas, petunias. some spring and very little fall / winter. I need to work on the cooler seasons
Loved this video! Tony Avent is such a knowledgeable plant person. I love crinum lilies. My grandmother had a bank of them that was about 12 feet long. They smelled so wonderful, and she always let me pick some. I am currently battling with the deer to keep them from eating my baby lilies to a nub. Again, great video! Thanks for sharing.
Curcuma showed up in Indiana in the big box stores about 3 years ago. After they arrived, there would be a this crowd of people standing around with their phones, trying to find out what on earth they were looking at. Not hardy here unfortunately.
nice! a neighbor stopped by a couple months ago and brought me pineapple lilies - i asked "what are these?" --- he said "pineapple plants!" ~ well, now i know. i need to get them in the ground 🍍
FWIW, 'Sparkling Burgundy' pineapple lilies cannot handle all day sun here in Dallas TX. At least they can't the first year in the ground. Weeks of 100F temperature has pretty much killed the ones I planted in full sun. The others that are in 1/2 day of sun are doing ok but struggling. Probably need to be planted with very limited afternoon sun, maybe on the east side of a building.
I just ordered an alstroemeria from Plants Delight this week, and I know that I am pushing things a bit by planting it in zone 5b, but I just really wanted that plant. Fortunately, a recent Walters Gardens video featured it and claimed it thrived in their 5b garden so maybe it will do so here also. Hey, why garden if you won’t take an occasional risk?
I planted alstroemeria Golden Tiara this spring, from Plant Delights, here in central Ohio 6A. Fingers crossed it overwinters! I plan to put a couple of bricks around it to trap heat, and some mulch.
Nice. I have some purple leafed hibiscus, about 2-3’ tall and found all the buds on the ground. It looked like they had been snipped off. They weren’t eaten. They didn’t look chewed. Any ideas on what happened and will they get new buds and how long do they bloom? Thanks for any insight. Our yard is fenced , so no deer but we have rabbits and squirrels, etc..
How do you keep those giant grasshopper off of them (spider Lily)? I think they are called loppers. They eat the flower heads off here in zone 8b Florida.
Great a bunch of new plants I must have-' Hi, I'm Bob and I'm addicted to plants'

I “relished” Tony’s t-shirt.
Super funny
Oh yeah! My husband says he has to get one of those tshirts. Lol
The bees swarming the obedient plant and the century plant are awesome.

A great garden visit! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome video! I’m going to have to watch it again and note all the plants I am interested in for my garden. LOVE the kitty cameos!
I have never seen a plant like the love lily. The stalk is something different. I have to say that I agree with his shirt.
What a wonderful presentation of unique plants.
Another very informative video. Actually found several curcuma alismatifolia at a big box store (HD) last August. Hope to find them again this year.
Loved and enjoyed every minute. Thank you for sharing! Stay safe...
Great video! I learned a lot and got some good ideas for plants I plan to get. I really enjoy your videos!

Such an amazing garden! I’ll have to get back out there while it’s open. I’m struggling with voles so I’m looking for plants they won’t eat.
Jealous of Jasper! Great summer garden.
Love to see new plants

I refuse to plant them because the grasshoppers are so bad here in 10a. I am deathly afraid of those things!
