Breaks my heart with the loss of Chester, as my bestfriend took his own life in 2006, by hanging, same as Chester(2017). Chester was his all time favorite, and this Live In Texas DVD video really hit me hard and took me back.

But to being honest with you. Over the years i have heard to much Metalheads making fun of Linkin Park. I am a metalhead - but i Never would Make fun of such Legends only because im not fully happy with the music they Made over the years. As a Fan it made my heard bleed to Hear from so called Metalheads how silly LP are. On a Machine Head concert I even once sae a guy with a T-Shirt written on it „It blows me away how absolut Gay Linkin Park are“ - so wrong on so many Levels! The only way of thinking about Chester is to tribute his massive Legancy! Only my opinion…

Mike Shinoda isn't the DJ, he's the rapper/co-vocalist/instrumentalist. DJ Hahn (Joe Hahn) is the DJ. And no, Mike formed the band with friends Brad (their guitarist) and Rob (their drummer). After graduating highschool they recruited Dave "Phoenix" (their bassist), DJ Hahn and Mark Wakefield (original vocalist). Chester was the last member to be recruited, he compleated the band. All album has came after their enormously succesful debute, "Hybrid Theory" with Chester!

Linkin Park’s original band name was Xero and they started in 1996 with singer Mark Wakefield. Chester came into the group in either 1998 or 1999. They then switched their band name to Hybrid Theory and due to legal complications they then switched to Linkin Park. Some of their Hybrid Theory songs were made or demoed as early as 1996!

Mike Shinoda (Rapper, 2nd vocalist, Keyboard, rhythm guitar, piano, producer, songwriter) and Brad Delson (lead guitarist, helped Mike with the producing), and Rob Bourdon (drums) started a band together in high-school. Mike brought in a guy name Mark as a lead singer that he was friends with from grade school. Mike met Brad in high-school. Rob went to a different school cross town in Cali but him and Brad were in a band together that lasted only a year. So Brad introduced him to Mike when forming their own high-school band. Then after high-school Mike met Joe Hahn (Dj, turntables) at a art institute college and brought him into the band. Brad became roommates with Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass) in college and brought him into the band. They originally started out with the name "Xero" they would practice, work on demos and etc out of Robs apartment. They got signed by a manager who really loved what they were creating but the original lead singer Mark had stage fright when they would perform at local gigs so they had to let him go. Then they went on to search for a new lead singer and at that time Chester's band in Arizona "Grey Daze" had just broken up. Chesters name got passed around by mutual friends between those that worked with "Xero" and who knew someone that worked with Chesters old band. "Xero" manager called Chester if interested and sent him a demo and ask Chester to add his vocals on it as a audition. And next thing he went to L.A and met with the manager and the band and auditioned in front of them to see if they have chemistry together and ended up getting the spot. Then when Chester joined they changed the name of the band to "Hybrid Theory". It took them a long while to finally get signed with a label. Before they got signed they did EVERYTHING themselves and created their own fan base by working the streets and Mike Shinoda creating their own web so they could interact with people through the net as well and getting themselves out there by booking their own gigs in bars/clubs and doing open acts for other bands. When they finally got signed by a label with the help of their fan base they changed their name AGAIN to "Linkin Park" and named their 1st album "Hybrid Theory".
In the beginning, during Hybrid, the label wanted to get rid of Mike's rapping and have Chester as the face/voice of the band as his. They even met Chester in secret and told him this. Chester told them to go f*ck yourselves and how it wasn't HIS band. He left that meeting and went to Mike and the guys right away and told them what had just happened and on what he said to them. That was the moment that solidified their bond as brothers. That's when all 6 members of the band knew in that moment they had each others backs 100% no matter what. Especially with Mike and Chester, they admired, supported, and were protective over each other.
They always thought of themselves as a wild card, they loved expermenting with different genre/styles, and making music that has meaning and people can relate the message to wheather its on a personal level or whats going on in the world. They have always been open and honest on what they were going to do so they wouldn't mislead anyone. They are not like other bands. Never have they've always been unique. They do things that THEY want to do and not what others want them to be. After the label realized the success off of their 1st album after all the BS, the label wanted them to keep doing the same thing as before, and thats not what they wanted. So, they broke out of that very quickly, the label finally backed off of them during Meteora and let them do things their own way by doing it independently with just a little bit of guidance from Rick Ruben.
Mike/Brad produced their music, Mike/Chester wrote the songs and then Brad got more involved with the writing in their last album, Mike /Joe came up with art ideas for their albums, Joe also directed majority of their music videos, Mike/Joe came up with set designs/visuals on how they want the stages to be on tour, Mike also did the band merchandise and created their web design. They did EVERYTHING that THEY WANTED to do. If anything, "Linkin Park" is its own genre. They were a very special different kind of band and did it by their own rules. Thats what I love about this band and the chemistry that they have. All 6 of them were/are very talented in many different things and each of them had something to contribute to the band.
The whole band is basically a family they all hung out all the time outside of the band, but Mike and Chester were the closest. Mike was one of the main ones who got through to Chester to get help with his sobriety. I think it was "Breaking the Habit" during Meteora. But Mike wrote the lyrics and showed it to Chester to give him that final nudge into wanting to get help, and when Chester read the lyrics, he just broke down and cried and it finally gave him that final courage to do it. Then that song became his #2 favorite of theirs to perform. Then at anytime if Mike seen that Chester was really struggling with depression and sobriety he was one of the ones that would pull Chester back from that ledge. Mikes wife Anna have dealt with depression her whole life since she was younger aswell and had a unstable home life due to her brother who had been in and out of prison for drug charges and a s*x offender. So with the depression side and who also had a unstable home environment she was one of the ones who also was also there for him. But, after everything with Chris Cornell they tried their best to help him but Chris really set him over that ledge when he died.
When we lost Chester, it definitely hit the band hard, but it hit Mike the hardest. He didn't leave his house in weeks, sent phone calls straight to voice-mail, couldn't do anything with his art or make music because of how depressed he was after Chester's passing. The 1st song he wrote after those weeks had gone by was "looking for an answer." He performed it at the tribute concert in honor of Chester. When he played that song you can hear it in his throat he was struggling to get through the lyrics and right when he finished he just broke. Those lyrics alone tells you on what he was feeling after losing Chester. It's only on TH-cam as a live performance unreleased song. Then, he did the "Post Traumatic" that was his way of going through the grief process and it also helped A LOT of the fans who were struggling with their grief over Chester and anyone else they might have lost to show them that they weren't alone.
    #Team Bennoda 💜😭💔

    Yo, about the “riot” question.
The metal/rock community always takes care of each other.
“If someone falls, you pick them up”
That’s a motto used in our community
Secondly , I am a Paralegal and know a little about the law.
If someone like a singer/rapper does tell the crowd to start acting wild, they can be charged criminally for instigating a “riot”
But you will hardly ever see a metal crowd acting stupid, we’re some of the most good hearted people around.

They started out as Hybrid Theory and later changed it to Linkin Park. They were all friends except for Chester. Chester audition for them after the original singer had left. Mr. Hahn is the DJ/ producer, Mike rapper/ producer, Chester vocals/ writer, Brad lead guitar, Rob drums, Phoenix bass. I believe they out sold korn, limp bizkit, and most if not all " nu-metal bands". Just with Hybrid Theory alone lol

Mike started the band with his friend Mark Wakefield during high school. Just after high school they added Brad (Mark's next-door neighbor and former bandmate in Relative Degree). Brad and Mark brought Rob in to be the drummer (former bandmate from Relative Degree). Brad brought Dave (Phoenix) in after being roommates with him in University. Mike brought Joe in after meeting him in Art school. In 1998 Mark left the band due to severe stage fright. He realized he is better suited to behind the scenes instead of being on stage.
In March of 1999 they sent Chester a demo tape that side 1 had songs with lyrics and side 2 had just instrumentals. He got it the day of his 23rd birthday party and skipped it to record his vocals on the demo tape for the then band Xero would later be Linkin Park. 3 days later Chester was in California for his audition for the band.
Chester did have his own band separate from Linkin Park called Dead By Sunrise. He started the band with Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh from Orgy. Ryan and Chester met in 2000 at the recording studio while recording Hybrid Theory. Ryan heard Chester warming his voice up to do some recording on Hybrid Theory.

Mike Shinoda is the Brains of Linkin Park, this is Mike's band really, he started it. Rapper, also singer though not on Chester's level at all, coproduced some of the albums, the primary songwriter, programmed some of the drum beats.
Shinoda and the singer before Chester - Mark Wakefield started the band, it was just them, they were friends since they were kids. After they decided they needed actual people for a band in order to play live and get signed to a record company, Mike brought in Joe(DJ), his college buddy from art school. Mark brought in his next door neighbor Brad(guitar) who brought in Rob(Drums) his high school friend, and Dave(Bass) his college roommate. It was 1996. They played numerous shows, made numerous demos, played in front of countless record companies who turned them down, but they knew they had something special. Mark stepped down and Chester came in around 1998. They had an EP in 1999. When their album finally dropped in 2000.... it was THE best selling album of the year. They had total freedom with their second album and it was equally praised. They ruled the world. Jay Z collaborated with LP because it would be good for HIS career! Imagine that. LP has always been experimental, lots of viewpoints regarding the path they went on throughout their 7 albums.

The second name they went by was Hybrid Theory to represent that, which they ended up naming their first album. Mike Shinoda did rapping, singing, played guitar, and keyboards, in studio and live, Joe Hahn did samples, DJ'ing, and keyboards. Shinoda also did a rap album under the name Fort Minor, which was produced by and featured Jay Z.

Mike shinoda's music is awesome. You should check it out on an episode. I think you'll be quite surprised how different it is from Linkin Park. His 1st few albums after Chester's passing were of Mike grieving, I could tell.

Linkin park been around since the 90s but they were called xero. Then they added Chester and changed the name to hybrid theory then had to change it again. Named the first album hybrid theory and they became linkin park. LP has 7 albums. But they also had a bunch of live albums and dvds put out. Including this one. Live in texas
Mike shinoda is the rapper but he also does guitar and keyboard and backing vocals. Not only that but he does production too. Joe hahn is the DJ is also directed quite a few LP videos

I think the reason they list them as having 16 demo albums is because they are counting the cds that were sent out to the Linkin Park Underground fan club each year. They often included demo versions of songs from their studio albums as well as demo songs that didn't make the cut to be on an album.

    • @sadiekincaid5310
      @sadiekincaid5310 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@bourne641 The 16 demo cds are the cds released for the Underground each year. They have only released 2 demo cds for everyone for 20th anniversary box sets.

4:40 they were around before chester joined and were originally called hybrid theory but dropped the name after roughly a year of chester being in the band and changed to linkin park. so mike was there before chester

Linkin park evolved very fast to different type of music: according to first hour fans, there is only 2 or 3 albums, when LP used to do nu metal
Edit: if you're interested in this genre you may check out Pleymo and Smash Hit Combo, which are both French bands

      @darkwyng98 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Pretty much- 'Minutes to Midnight' started the evolution of the band moving from nu-metal to a more...idk, refined version of the band? Coincidentally this is also the time I stopped listening to the band. I have no issues with them wanting to do something else, good for them, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear so I moved on as a fan, at least for the newer stuff.

The band was called Hybrid Theory before Chester joined. They had tryouts for a metal singer/ screamer and once Chester performed the people trying out behind him left because they knew how special he was

If you look back through the years, LP is in the top 10 and even top 3 earning bands in music year to year. They basically did an album, and tour the next year.
Mike is the rapper and sings too, even sometimes plays guitar.
Chester we all know was the lead singer, or co-singer
Joe Hahn started out going by Mr. Hahn

  • @chelleashbaugh4892

You saw Chester getting himself together. Doing these songs brings back the trauma and he needs to get himself back in his head space. Imagine always singing these and the trauma just floods back.

I'd love to see you guys react to one or a few songs from each album, in order of release. Linkin Park is one of those bands that really reinvents themselves each time, each time the fans were sceptic, but most ended up coming around to the new sound. I remember being VERY sceptical when I heard the first single from the album A Thousand Suns, The Catalyst. But now, that is my favourite Linkin Park album, and the song Waiting for the End from that album might just be my favourite Linkin Park song.
