    I've been an RN for 30 years. I greatly appreciate these videos and this one in particular. I feel that if the general population would know of these techniques then the secondary infection of pneumonia from COVID would be less deadly. Doctors know about medicine, not physiological techniques. This is where the Nursing and Therapy marriage is key to actually helping the patient achieve wellness.

      Global public health education initiatives about Proning positioning could have also saved millions of lives. A missed opportunity.

    I have post covid lung pain. My doctor just did this and my oxygen level went up by 3% and cleared out the crackling fluid. I can breathe so much easier. Now I need my husband to learn how to do this and do it twice a day until my lungs are finished with stupid covid.

    I remember my mother would do this when I was a kid ( in the 80's ) to help me breath better, I had asthma really bad and pneumonia a lot. I'm much older now but I use vibration to try and break up mucous, seems to help a lot.

    I tried a Handheld Percussion Massager on my congested chest. It works. You don’t need help and it is faster than 3 strokes per second 😉.

    Need to cup your hands. Use 2 hands as well and percuss like you mean it. Each lobe requires about 5min percussion.

    Wow she's really thumping away there. My husband and daughter help me with my drainage and I can't tolerate any heavy handedness. It hurts!!! I would end up with a bad headache.

    • @Mattiethekorbat
      @Mattiethekorbat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's not necessarily heavy handed thumping - the cupping of the hand makes the noise sound louder than the impact is.

  • @geraldhoskins1506

    Interesting, however this does little for effective secretion clearance in superior basal lobes (or any basal lobe, left or right), the apicoposterior upper lobe (left), or the posterior upper lobe (right). I would consider minor adjustments to draining all but the RML and L-lingula (upper and lower), but the cupping technique was well-demonstrated.

      gerald hoskins right. The foot of the bed should be elevated for Basal lobes, or middle right lobes medial and lateral, or left lingula superior and inferior.

      You can definitely give yourself chest percussions, it probably wouldn’t be as effective as another person doing it but I do it all the time when I’m congested and it’s wonderful; it will REALLY bring some shit up. Gross but oh so satisfying.
