The game felt really fresh at a time where I was feeling some serious burnout with the core mechanics. I think the gameplay loop could've used just a bit more variety, though, which they sort of delivered on with the extra battle content in the update. The remixed gen 4 music was amazing, one of my favorite things about the whole package.
We're rapidly approaching the point at which GameFreak is shitting out mediocre Pokémon games faster than Stel can review them. We will look back upon this very moment and be amazed at how good we had it, without even realizing. Also, you should stream more. More than, like, once a year, I mean. Anything you want, we'll enjoy watching, chatting, and hanging out. =)

Thank you for mentioning the music. The music was so good but it played so little. It would be quiet for 15 minutes, and then all of a sudden a banger starts playing and the only way to make it last was to stand still, which is not what a soundtrack is for. The Alpha Pokémon were pointless to me. Essentially, it's a normal Pokémon but bigger. Especially when it's a stage 1 Pokémon like Kricketot.
ive sort of considered it since i've really been enjoying 4 apocalypse and have never heard anyone talk about it beforehand, but i've got other games i'd definitely like to talk about first
People were also more mad at this game cause we were told we would be getting a quality game for switch. We got Sword and Shields dumb ass instead. They said they would give us a more quality game that hardcore fans would love. We got Lets go. We wanted a Platinum remake like past remakes. We got Diamond Abortion and Placebo Pearl. We just been getting lied to back to back and its getting old. Scarlet and Violet are probrably gonna be just as hand holdey.
The problem is we don't want something new. We played this solely for the Arceus in BDSP. We want nothing more than Emerald, Platinum, HGSS, BW2, but new mons, region, etc. But nothing consequential. 8 gyms, E4, Champ, decent story like BW2, TMs, HMs, just give us literally the same shit, THAT is what we want. Unfortunately there are more normie fad chasers than us fans, so we get BotW but with Pokémon, and people act like it's a good Pokémon game, and not just a Zelda game with Pokémon in it.
Like, it's not Pokémon, but it's not bad, if you look at it as a one off spinoff title, which it is, so yeah. It's definitely a fun placeholder till we do eventually get something good, like properly good, Gen 3~5 tier, preferably 5 tier, but it's riddled with problems.
I would not say its a good game its basically like pokemon snap but catching the pokemon instead of taking photos of them catching pokemon is all there is to do there are hardly any trainer battles in this game and no pvp. And the game over compacities things by making you have to do a bunch of other things instead of just catching the pokemon and your done with it.
I think it's second worst after sword and shield. Researching countless times just to throw SACKS at the god of all Pokemon and catch him so I can battle bidoofs in the post game because there are barely any trainers

It's easily the best Non-Spinoff Pokemon game on Switch. Yeah it's a $60 tech demo but I had so much fun with it.
