Schwartzkopf rides have to be the most durable roller coasters ever made. Also, having grown up in Michigan, I had no idea there were that many small fun parks. The closest to where I grew up was CJ Barrymore's (which does have a relocated looping coaster) and Bob-Lo Island (where I got my first 3 coaster credits). I really appreciate the research and graphics you put into your videos.
Even crazier when you remember that they are meant to be portable, which when "permanent" coasters are moved, they usually become way rougher, but not these guys, who travel most of their lives.
For a moment, I thought this video was going to be on roller coasters that should be torn down but are still standing like Flight Deck and Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland.
It’s crazy how cheap and portable these old coasters are, and most of them are still pretty smooth for their age. Can’t really say that about a lot of newer coasters.
Schwartzkopf coaster are build to last and relocate. These coasters have no reason to die. With some love and care, they stand strong. These coasters were the only coasters to be smooth after years of use and reloasions on the fairs and parks. Zierer also did a great job, but there coasters were not intens.
Hey Chris. The wildcat that was at Williams Grove i rode a ton. Miss that rickety park. Seen a kid bust his nose on cyclone when the guy hit the brakes, broke my hand in the fun house on the shaker steps, and had my lap bar come entirely lose on wildcat while riding with my uncle Bob. Side note the water slide that was right next to wildcat was sketchy as all get.
There is another coaster that will not die. It doesn't really fit here as it has only been moved once: The Wild One at Six Flags America. But it still has almost died multiple times, only to be resurrected each time and is now over 100 years old. Originally The Giant Coaster at Paragon Park in MA, it was a double out-and back side friction coaster built by Philadelphia Toboggan in 1917. In 1932 a fire destroyed much of it and it was redesigned with an under track friction system. In 1963 it was partially destroyed by fire again and was rebuilt again. In 1984, Paragon Park closed and sold it to Wild World and it opened in 1986. Wild world was sold multiple times and eventually became Six Flags America.
A couple of other channels have said that All American Triple Loop is very rough. As for other coasters I'm surprised still live: The two Vekoma Flying Dutchmans (Noghthawk and Batwing).
I'm pretty sure that there's another coaster that has three at frontier city i'm not sure though. I'm pretty sure it could be silver bullet, or diamondback
Fascinating stuff! Happy to report that one of my earliest coaster credits was The Wild Cat at Rye Playland in 1991, and also rode Jet Star when it was at Morey's Piers in 1997. Good memories!
Shoutout to Gotham @ Parc d'Attractions Marseillan-Plage (FKA M&Ds' Tornado), only relocated once but I'm stunned that anyone wanted it. Anyway, kind of expected this to be a list of coasters that have stayed in one spot but have had a ton of renovation work done over the years, so... potential subject for a future video? Can call it Roller Coasters of Theseus or something.
Don’t forget Goliath it has two relocations first was amusement park in Japan then it went to Six Flags, New Orleans, but due to hurricane Katrina, it was relocated to fiesta Texas. I’m glad that coaster has been saved also don’t forget Prairie screamer. Even though it has only one relocation it’s still good ride it was first at Scandia Amusement Park in Ontario, California then went to Grand Prairie, Texas. I have went on the coaster several times
All American Triple Loop is like the best example out of all the coasters mentioned here because of the accident. I honestly thought that it was pretty much done for until I found out that Gene Staples bought it for Indiana Beach. Just goes to show that Schwarzkopf coasters almost never die.
It would be interesting what the cost savings it is to buy and relocate a coaster compared to buying a new coaster. Shipping one halfway across the world has to be expensive. Plus, a used coaster has to have a higher maintenance cost.
You absolutely rock getting serpent at Niagara amusement park! I marathoned it at Americana or lesourdsville lake in 1991 when our band was in a battle of the bands up there one night. I'd love to ride it again. Definitely was fun for being so small.
Things I learned today: 1. Die Wildkatze is still running somewhere in Maryland. 2. Palace Frickin' Playland once had a Schwarzkopf they got from Cedar Point (and it's now in Belarus).
Man I've seen several of these rides actually listed for sale right now! Namely Big blue at Dalmaland (which is selling a bunch of their rides including their 2 largest coasters) and Gold Rush, the final ride, is listed for sale now too! I remember when Bobsleigh / Cityjet was also listed for sale following Nigloland closing it.
Gene Staples...GS sounds pretty close to jesus, coaster jesus. I have ridden All American Triple Looper with both sets of restraints. The current just lap bar is decent now you just slam into the person next to you and scrape your outer elbow instead of getting punched in the head by shoulder restraints. Plus the capacity is much better for Indiana Beach.
Cosmic Double Loop at Luna World Tokyo has a storied past, first opening in 1977 at Kyotoland in... Kyoto. It then moved to the Geauga County fair in Ohio in 1985, popping up at various theme parks in the USA, before going to Tokyo for the 2018 season. where it still operates.
I really need to start shopping at Bob’s Discount Coaster Barn. It sounds like I’ve been missing out on some good deals. 😅 I wouldn’t mind having the original King Cobra in my backyard. I rode that a King’s Dominion and loved it.
Okay so this just means next year you gotta somehow collab with CZsWorld! Also not me thinking Anaconda would count for this list. I have now watched the qualifications for this video lol
Alien Taxi aka Xtreme has a bad history to it. When in the US, a woman died on it when the restraints opened mid ride and she fell out. I was at the park a day or two before the incident, and ride ops were going under the station to unlock the restraints to unload passengers. My girlfriend and I refused to ride in that car as it just looked very odd and should have been taken out of service. Coincidence???
This is the first time I have heard someone reference Jeepers in a long time. We had one for a hot minute in Columbus Ohio but it's hard to find info about it now.
I remember the serpent Rollercoaster when it was at the then named Americana amusement park former nane lesordsvile lake I believe lol. Just can't spell that name. Although I was Yung at the time so memory might be a little sketchy lol.
These coasters must hold a lot of value to be disassembled and reassembled so many times... do you have a $ figure on what it takes for a park to purchase the coaster, prepare the site for it, labor to assemble it, labor to disassembled it, sell to another park, cost of shipping, then start the whole cycle again??
Well, a lot of the Schwarzkopf coasters were designed to be portable in the first place, so the costs for them to be disassembled, moved, and reassembled would be less than for a lot of other coasters--and the coaster would still (usually) be in decent shape once put back together.
I was thinking this would be a video of coasters that are nearing the end of their service lives, and or ones that have been rumored to be removed soon
If that’s true, which sounds pretty bogus because it’s nearly 30 years old and Herschend would probably just spring for a new coaster, idk where KK would put a coaster that big. They already had to extend into the parking lot for Kentucky Flyer and T3s new vacated plot isn’t that big

their trains need upgrading tho, 2 separate accidents where a part of the train derailed (mind bender and quimirea)

Surprised Goliath at Fiesta Texas wasn’t atleast mentioned, not a tonne of relocations but it did straight up survive a hurricane AND flood
Yeah in that context its true, only 2 relocations tho
Katapul received a major retracking and retheme about a year ago, and it's been running great! My favorite operating coaster in Brazil!

I've always wondered how much of the original structure from 1917 is left on that ride.
