4:25 It’s officially happened, I knew the day would come… Jack has already reacted to this map in another video and made the same exact observation about fire.
The weight thing is actually pretty interesting. It’s basic Newtonian mechanics, and two different bodies attracting each other, this relation relies on the Inverse of the radius squares (1/r**2) meaning the longer from the Earth’s center of gravity you are, the less you weigh (i.e. the less the gravitational force pulls in you making you ‘lighter’). If your scale is made in the uk, it is probably set by the uk standards. That said, even if it weren’t, the margin of error is likely so small for cooking that it doesn’t matter
@0:04 Finland also has multiple different national animals, not just the brown bear. We also have national horse (Finnish horse), national insect (seven-spot ladybug), national fish (European perch), national bird (whooper swan), national dog (Finnish Spitz) and national butterfly (holly blue). @3:12 Nigeria is also pretty evenly divided between Christian and Muslim population @9:22 That's not satellite photograph. First photo taken from space was in 1946 by a suborbital rocket flight, and first satellite wasn't launched until 1957, almost 20 years after that picture. That is most likely taken from a high altitude balloon.
3:32 I used to live in Indiana and I’ve been to Ohio so I can confirm this map is outdated or messed up as there are far more mc Donald’s in Indiana and I know I’ve had mc Donald’s will on Ohio
Hey Jack! The mass of the same object doesn't change depending on where you are. What changes though, is its weight (the force of attraction to the center of the planet). On Earth, to calculate an object's weight in Newtons (N), you'll need to multiply the g constant (roughly equal to 9.81 m/s^2, which "happens to be" the acceleration of objects when they are falling) by the mass of the object (in kilos). The g constant on Earth is different than the one on Mars, for instance, as it is calculated with the mass of the planet and the distance of the object to it (g=(Mass of the planet * Mass of the object * G (gravitational constant))/(distance between the center of the planet and the object ^2), to be precise). As Earth isn't a perfect sphere, due to its spin that causes it to be slightly compressed in the equator, the weight of objects with the same mass in its surface can (very slightly) vary depending on their latitude (how north or south). But that map was just bullshit 😅🤣
11:08 finally a reputable construction of the mass we call earth it is neither flat nor round, it is a crumpled up mess of both with high mountains and low valleys, the only reason it appears as a round globe is because of the oceans and gravity.
The google Street View coverage is interesting because even few years ago, Germany still didn't allow for there to be that much coverage, but now it looks like most of the country is covered.
1:16 Voting maps like this are always extremely misrepresentative and very bad for demonstration. Land doesn't vote, people do. Voting maps where they're all like "see, only these few tiny areas voted for this, so they must be a very tiny fraction of the population and thus don't deserve to have their voices heard or their wants met" is a long-standing conservative method of misleading the uninformed into believing their lies. (also notice how that post says _"only_ 56%" despite that being _well_ over the majority mark of 50%) People see "red big, blue/green small" and associate that with tyranny of the minority, disregarding that those tiny areas are so much more _densely_ populated. How densely populated are and how many people live in the huge sectors of Sweden to the north-west, compared to the primary cities that are in green? The _ONLY_ thing that matters in voting is pure population numbers and vote counts. NEVER maps like this.
I hate the new Switzerland tourism logo. We used to have a beautiful leontopodium logo for many years, but they have chosen to rebrand it to this, to come off as more international or something like that. That was the worst decision ever.
wait, is it not common knowledge that the country Chad is named after Lake Chad and that chad means lake? maybe I was too much of a geography nerd when I was younger but I genuinely thought everyone knew this?
I'd love to see you go to different countries, but you said you'd only do go when you don't have dogs anymore. Maybe you could get Becky's or your parents to look after Kong so you can go sooner.
as a sri lankan , yes the gravity is so low that our prices start floating
😂😂😂
Jack: Maybe we could just give them a lolly or somethin
BBC: voting has gone up by 50%
That would go to like 90%

Which video perhaps?
He reacted to several maps in multiple videos. There's only so many cool maps that get reposted on those subreddits.

The variation of gravity is not big enough to cause to noticeable difference. I think Jack's scales will be fine.
It's interesting how "Jock" watches those maps and finds them weird, though not as weird as what he did in '99.

Denmark's official national animal is the mute swan, not the small tortoiseshell butterfly, that is our national butterfly.

Unfortunately the first map is at least semi wrong, Denmarks national animal is the mute swan, not a butterfly
