At $160 this guy's gonna cost an arm and a leg (good thing he has many), but that is some phenomenal sculpting and paint application there. With that little friend he's got I also imagine he could be displayed alongside some vintage Hasbro Army Ants for maximum punnage.
This awesome! I loved playing with the bee as a kid & having giant mutants. Wish they had been in the toon. Glad to see things that didn’t get released from different toylines finally happening! If I still had all my vintage tmnt on display I’d want it but doubt I’d pay that price. Hopefully this gets a mention in your book

I don't really have an intreat in the vintage TMNT (I gave you all my figures at PowerCon years ago), but I think this is really cool and I'm so glad that the vintage fans are getting a chance to own a part of history that almost wasn't a possibility. I've been seeing this pop up around Instagram, so nice to get a better look at it. To me the camouflage paint deco makes it feel like a 2012 Turtle toy.

So, is Army Ant a good guy or a bad guy? He has a peace sign but his box calls him a "menace?" Does he work with the Turtles or the Foot? Or is he a free agent? Did he get a dishonorable discharge?
It was never established in the past, but I had a meeting with Turtlemilk Studios and Army Ant is an Anti-Hero! He can swing either way depending on the mission and motive. Ant-I-Hero 😁

I'm absolutely ecstatic that we're already 78% funded with nearly 20 days to go! We'll certainly go the distance and then some as Kickstarter graphs nearly always haveva U curve. A bunch of people pile on during the first few days, then it kind of coasts throughout the middle, then a bunch more people pile in over the last 3 ir 4 days. There are many variables and moving parts with a product launch, and timing isn’t always something that can be easily chosen. We know times are tough, and the $159 price reflects what it takes to produce Army Ant with top-quality materials and expert design, plus direct support for David Arshawsky, the original creator. I’m optimistic for a stronger economy ahead and grateful for everyone’s support in bringing this project to life!

There are subtle similarities from the side angle, which has a lot to do with being the same sculptor...but it's a very different design all in all. The underside is super rad, I need to share more pics of that! Thank you for the reminder 👊
The cost to produce a figure this size, and it this level of quality is extremely expensive. Just the tools and iron molds for injection molding is tens of thousands of dollars many times over, and that doesn't include the cost of the actual product 🤠. Then after that, there are costs related to artist, design, samples, shipping, importing, taxes, royalties to the creators studio. It's a very very costly thing to produce a quality product at a quality manufacturing facility. I hope this helps 🙂
Cool as this is, and I know it's a limited indie production, nearly $200 for what's basically a 40yr old vintage figure with little to no articulation and only "unique sculpt" and nostalgia to push it, it's overpriced asf... COOL, but 100% overpriced... I understand licensing and production probably being a ton for these guys since it's not a Playmates offering, but at almost $200 a pop, I just can't... that's like "Boutique Vinyl Figure" prices, which I also consider to be ridiculously priced...

Meh, If he had mordern articulation like neca I’d be all in. Vintage toys with limited articulation hold no appeal for me. I left that stuff in the 80s 😂
I appreciate your perspective! We certainly could have gone the route of more articulation, but it was very important to us that we make it as though it was produced in 1990 in terms of articulation. We wanted to honor the old school fan base so restraint was key in some regards 🙂

To fit right in with the vintage collection, they will have to leave almost all of the details unpainted. That is the lasy Playmates way.
