Prior to discovering Band Maid most of my listening was opera although in my young days I heard and followed most of the major groups. My opera contacts allowed me access behind scenes in particular La Scala Milan. Most top opera stars have huge egos and some are monsters - their excuse their huge talent. Band Maid individually and collectively enjoy huge, vast talent way beyond usual in rock groups yet they manage to have none of the ego problems we are expected to forgive and off stage are wonderfully controlled, well mannered young women. They are all glorious individuals and together the very very best rock band in the world.
Bandmaid are just like an outstanding very short book. One wants to have it endlessly reading. On and on and on from the first page to the last.A delicious torture
Sorry rob,in a previous comment I thought you where in Japan but it seems you live in the states,,I really want to go to Japan & just go clubbing every night to watch all the girl bands ,,they all kick ass,,,Robby Aus ❤️❤️❤️
Kobato deserves some love on this one with her crunchy, spot-on rhythm guitar that you hear in your left ear. That pick slide she does during the first verse is sweet. Our little Japanese pigeon has come a long way!
If You want some longer solos from BAND-MAID go for songs: 'Alone', "The non-fiction days', 'Turn Me On'(live) or a different band Mary's Blood - 'Marionette' (j-metal female band).
That pick slide Miku does at 01.16 just shows how far she's come as a player, and that she aims to be better. I think a lot of us are waiting for the day she busts out a proper solo of her own. I'm sure she will do it eventually.
That was the big one! 'Take Me Higher' comes right in the middle of the 'Just Bring It' album and no matter how many times I hear it, it always blows me away. Saiki is in top form and we get stellar performances from both Misa and Kanami. But these girls are a 'kaiju' - (Japanese for 'monster') but in the best possible way. For something similar, please check out some live stuff by the band Mary's Blood, another fantastic live act from Japan. Cheers John.
MISA and Konami COMPETED, no battled. Each took what the other did and tried to take it somewhere for the other in turn to take off on. Here's where you can get a little glimpse into their MUSICAL personalities. What musical choice is taken in response to the other's lead indicates something about their musical sensibilities.
Saiki's voice was one of the first things that hooked me on the band.. along with Akane's drumming. she's quite sparing in her use of the grittier vocal sound(heard at end of chorus here).. so it's extra hype when she does bust it out. her voice sounded completely different on the first mini-album Maid In Japan.. still unmistakeably her tho. her singing on the acoustic version of Puzzle is maybe the most expressive i've heard from her so far th-cam.com/video/aOixj8XE8Ew/w-d-xo.html
Interesting thing I read on reddit...Misa is taking bass playing lessons again, and says she enjoys it so much, but complains she has to sleep sometimes. How's that for dedication?
When musicians swap solos like that it is often referred to as a "battle." Not in a negative way though. It is just the terminology that is used by many many musicians.
Nearest I've seen to a battle amongst Bandmaids was when Miku annoyed Saiki terribly by poking at her face---where-upon Saiki later aggravated Miku by twirling her twintails around mercilessly. Very cankankerous stuff---no clear winner yet ! Watch out for more glimpses offstage !!
I wouldn't call it a battle so much as a conversation. But there is no "victor in their battles" but those who are listening. Just be sure to wear your rubber underwear before reacting to their videos. That and take lots of vitamin E.
The very best hard rock band on the planet today. No one else is even close. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.
Always enjoy watching you React to BAND-MAID
MISA MISA MISA.... I like your reactions to BAND-MAID...keep 'em coming!

@Peter Karagiris not to mention Emily must have been a very bad girl the way Akane is pounding her
lmao, just made me remember an old meme "These girls are a kaiju! (Translators notes: Kaiju means monster)"
There hasn't been a bigger "kaiju" out of Japan since Godzilla (LOL)!!!
You really like Misa vs Kanami battle. I agree with you, the longer the battle, the much better.

Mr. John, I don’t think you’ve done a video for Turn Me On- it’s a real banger complete with another MISA solo!💪🏻🤘🏻
While Band Maid🎀 owns my heart, Trident Kickass deserves attention.😸checkout omv!
Miku guitar sound louder than Mincho but it sound heaven lol

By the way, Kanami is a great fan of Carlos Santana :)
