I keep interpretating the lyric as a tought of dying soldier in no man's land. Far away from home, dying in stranger's country with no hope to be burried in their homeland, all they can do is just "forever dreaming of home"
This is how I feel after both my parents died and my sister flew over to the United States. Nice song tho. Nothing compared to what WW1 soldiers had to endure tho.
Being a ww2 reenactor in Italy, I have been to numerous War cemeteries from both the Axis and the Allied side... Each time I hear this song, my thoughts run to those poor boys from all nations who died so far away from their homes... May they all rest in peace...

I'm in the Ukraine fighting Russia. Im from Scotland🏴🇬🇧. I am serving in the Ukrainian army. Right now I'm in Rehab after Russian artillery blow up my bunker on the front line. An this song came into my head. While I was laying in the snow with other wounded foreign fighters. This song came in my head. It's true the words your always dreaming of home🏴🇬🇧🇺🇦
Read closely: Great Britain and * Ireland *; this song is referencing WWI, which fell into the period when the UK was officially under that title. The Union Jack was only in service for that nation-state until 1927, when it ceased to exist in favor of the UK of Great Britain and * Northern * Ireland.
@@hi_-bz7wf Nope, but I assess the usage of flags based on their specific country/organization. The flag remained, but the “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland” ceased to exist.
@@CaesarASchanzenbachReloaded Well, if you ask most people over here to draw our flag, usually they will draw this one, if they're feeling lazy they will draw the usual red and white flag. Personally I prefer the one showcased in the video. As you said though, any companies, say (our) / the English football team will wear the red and white shirt.
Yes but then the grass turns brown and the trees grow yellow and clouds of green consume the land and Marching is heard across no man's land there silhouettes with a spike on top are seen through smoke through the smoke and gun shots are heard as the dead soldiers lie blue along the trenches for they had no mask

Isn't the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland still a country? The UK. The Union flag is still used.
