Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Today, I am going to review the Ender-3 Max Neo. If you consider the Ender-3 Max to be a pump-up version of the Ender-3 Pro, this Ender-3 Max Neo is actually more like a pump-up Ender-3 V2 in terms of its features and appearance.
Let’s take a look at the features of this Ender-3 Max Neo and see how it compares to the Ender-3 Max. It has 6 major upgrades compared to the Ender-3 Max:
It has been upgraded to a dual Z-axis with a timing belt at the top of the gantry. It comes with a CR-touch auto bed leveling sensor. Belt tensioners have been added on both the X and Y axis. The LCD screen has been upgraded to the same color screen as the Ender 3 V2 and Ender-3 S1.
It uses a new Creality hotend to replace the old MK8 hotends on the Ender-3 series. There are other cosmetic upgrades like the drawer and moving the power supply to the base. Overall, it has a slightly better appearance.
Some features of the Ender-3 Max are still used on this Ender-3 Max Neo, like the dual-part cooling fan and the metal extruder. However, the 300x300x320 print volume is slightly smaller than the Ender-3 Max’s print volume of 300x300x340, and the MeanWell power supply has been replaced by a Creality brand PSU. The rest of the parts, like the glass bed, the Bowden setup, and the mechanical limit switches have all stayed the same.
I would like to thank Pergear for sending me this machine to review, and with that, let’s get started.

Was not looking for a printer like this one but wanted to hear you talk and then found I always learn more because you share your filament setting and selection. I have eryone $12 PLA and it is very good too. I like you tested the retraction and the White House Was great. You all do a wonderful job presenting and sharing lessons learned, I know I love my CR 10S Pro V1 Now, after adding Micro Swiss Hot End & Dual Drive with BL Touch. I added the Z Axis Timing belt on top and Z Axis Struts in front. The Machine is a Tank now. I printed the Chrysler Building and Empire State building 380 and 390 mm Tall no Problems. in $12 PLA from Eryone. You take care and say hey to the family, D

there new direct drive setup would have made it worth it, i got one of the ender 3 max right b4 the neo came out but got mine for $200 or i would have been upset, but if i would have known the neo was coming out with the dual z, cr touch an new display i would have waited cause im going to end up doing this to the one i got. i got mine on ebay as a return printer but it was like brand new when i got it, only thing missing was the sd card other than that, everything was still wrapped in its plastic so not sure what cause them to send it back. but i felt like i got a good deal even after the price drop.

I bought this printer during the Chinese new year sale.
I agree about the glass plate releasing print, it was great for 2 or 3 but then I was having to chisel at it to get them off.
Another problem how LOUD the fans are, i'd hate to hear how loud it is without the silent board upgrade.
The draw is tiny, the only things that fitted in was the little spanners and allen key, nothing else you use fits.
Overall I like the printer however the loud fans, oh and the usb mini (why not usb-c ?), are annoying, so a fan/plate upgrade is coming real soon.

I’m getting a weird buzzing sound coming from the HotEnd of this printer about 10-15 minutes into a print. Think it might be a fan issue, but not sure. Any suggestions? Should I just dismantle it to see if anything is rubbing against the fan? (This is my first 3D printer btw)

  • @MrMosinNagant1937

I think the key to removing prints from glass is to first add clips so the glass can be removed and then cool the glass and remove the print. I have the same glass on my Ender 3 and have no issues

    • @will4may175
      @will4may175 ปีที่แล้ว

I also think it goes on the PLA, a silk white I used was solid to the plate even after leaving overnight to cool, yet a metallic blue I've just used popped right off.
If you know of a method to cleaning the glass plate so old marks (like she has in this vid) are not there please let me know, I wondered if those were adding to the sticking.

12:15 While I agree regarding the build volume, the iPhone comparison falls flat for me. I realize I'm unusual on this, but I hate the smartphone size creep. I shall be sticking with my Samsung Galaxy S5 mini for as long as possible. I can see/read stuff just fine, and it rests much more comfortably in my hand than even slightly larger models, let alone ones with a whoppin' 6" screen.
Anyway, excellent review as always. I genuinely enjoy watching these just for the quality analysis, despite not really being in the market for a third printer right now, let alone a large bedflinger.

I prints stick too much to the corborundum bed raise your first layer up a few thousandths. When I go back to my bed after cooling prints just fall off. My prints fall off my all glass Cr10S5 bed as well but it isn't corborundum just plain glass so I use glue stick as a release. I have had prints stick so bad to plain glass the print pulls glass off with the part but looking back I think my first layer was way too squished making the part stick way too much but either wya since using glue stick I haven't had the problem once!

Very helpful review. What are the other printers at the same price point (from other brands) that you refer to in the video? ie. with dual Z, ABL, 300x300x300+, and direct drive.
Also it seems to me that the pricing of this printer lines up with their other models.$390 ender 3 neo max (at full price) + $110 ender Sprite Pro direct drive extruder = $500, essentially the S1 Plus but with taller Z, full metal hotend, and the non-touch (better UI) screen, for $30 less

Since the SV06 plus was released I really wonder if Creality has sold a single "Max Neo" and if so why?
The sv06 Plus is: 1. Cheaper
    2. Has linear rails
    3. Has an all metal hotend
    4. Has a high flow hotend
    5. Is direct drive
    6. Has a touch screen (not that I care about that personally)
    7. Has a spring steel PEI build plate
    8. Has a bearing loaded spool holder
    9. A 450w Power Supply
    10. Slightly larger build height
The Max Neo has: 1. A drawer.
This makes the Max Neo an extremely poor value considering the competition.

Your reviews are worth the watch, however the 300mm-ish print volume without a large nozzle diameter, i.e. 0.6mm as recommended by many guys (Tom, Stefan, Angus) misses a very key point: excessively long print times. This is not your problem but I wish you would discuss this in your "cons" section. For me, a 3D printer need not be large format but should be fast.

    • @petercallison5765
      @petercallison5765 ปีที่แล้ว

Nozzles are a cheap replacement so not really fair to call it a con. Plus you will find people who disagree with the 0.6 nozzle theory.

I'm curious. Why do you advocate for a direct drive hotend when you praise the bowden setup for its print quality? I thought, and maybe I'm wrong, that the only reason for a direct drive is for flexible filaments. However, in your review, you praise the bowden setup for its print quality using PLA, TPU, and ABS; the filaments that most DIY 3D printers use in their creations? Notwithstanding, I still like your reviews and subscribed. Looking forward to your next publication.

Not a bad printer, but the company support is a 'F'.
I bought one of these 2 months ago. Printer 5 rolls of filament with no real issues. I cleaned it after each print, leveled the bed after each print etc etc.
Then the other day. I had a 15 hour PLA print going and I checked in on it after 8 hours from my remote app and the printer was moving fine but no filament was coming out.
I went to my print room and stopped the job. The hotend had become clogged and the extruder continued to force filament down into the hot end where it built leaked and created a mess of the hot end. It wasn't salvageable by cleaning and so I contacted their support. I am sorry, but it is terrible. This is a $15 part and I am having no luck get then to even understand. This should be a slam dunk - send me another cheap hotend, but no they don't seem to get it.
I bought this as an entry level printer and was going to buy another Creality higher end model, but that is not going to happen.
Worst support I have even had.
I'll send the whole unit back to Amazon.

It's good that they are at least trying to make some changes, but Creality as a company treats the 3D printing community so badly and are unapologetic for it. I still can't forgive them for the Creality Cloud incident and the damage it did to the community, so I will never support their products. It's really too bad that Creality is a terrible company. But ever since the whole "scam lizard" affair, the Creality Cloud stuff, and the fact that they replaced the Ender 3 "Pro" power supply and board with junk but kept advertising the Mean Well and 32-bit 512k board...that, I will never forgive. So while I enjoy watching your reviews, I won't ever buy Creality again. It's not your fault, but what Creality does affects the whole community.
