    You left out the best part about the ostrich: Ostrich farmers have to stay well away and out of sight when it is mating season, or else the ostrich will start doing its mating dance in front of them. Why? Because ostriches find humans more attractive than other ostriches. "Remember, no matter how ugly you may think you are, to an ostrich, you're the sexiest thing on two legs."

    Ostriches are honestly amazing for their gigantism alone, but imagine if giants like the Elephant Bird or the Moa were still around (which I only recently found out are two groups of different lineage and geographic origin). The Moa is actually seemingly the only bird to completely lose even its vestigial wings, meaning it was basically just a huge body with a neck and some legs attached. I can't believe we'll never get to see one in person.

    My dad was once attacked by an ostrich at a zoo. It took his glasses by pokey pokey him and my dad, being terribly nearsighted without glasses frantically crawled into the fence to retrieve it. It was a whole scene.

      Not gonna lie, I had never heard of the bird until two nights ago. I was watching a special on BBC America and the opening scene featured a Cassowary. I thought, _"Wow, that's great CGI, but this is supposed to be a nature show."_ (Duh. 🤦🏼‍♀️) My mind was blown when I realized they were showing a real bird! That thing looks like a dinosaur!

      @Don’t Subscribe Dinosaurs are defined as all animals descended from the ancestor of Megalosaurus and Iguanodon (the two first dinosaurs discovered). Since birds are also descended from that common ancestor (being part of the theropod group, along T. rex and Velociraptor) they are indeed flying dinosaurs.

      @Don’t Subscribe Taxonomy says if your ancestor was one, then you are. Birds descended from dinosaurs, so they are dinosaurs. That's why the term for the extinct ones is "non-avian dinosaurs" cuz the avians are fine.
      It's also why "fish" isn't a term in taxonomy cuz that would mean every tetrapod is also a fish, including humans.
