OMG THANK YOU! Finally someone besides me who believes Rarity caused a lot of problems too! A lot of people were mad at AJ (and rightly so), but Rarity was just at fault as AJ. Plus as an artist myself, (even though I do fine arts) I felt insulted by what Rarity said. She implied that artists couldn't be practical in their critiques and that really made me angry because in college I had to learn how to give and receive critiques in my fine art classes. And they ALWAYS have to be objective too. In this episode a lot of the 'critiques' were deplorable because the judges basically said what one of my old professors would call, "Artistic mumbo jumbo". There's a reason why this episode is my worst from S7 and it's easily one of my worst of the Series too.
That fight scene was the most amazingly animated I have ever seen with Brony vectors. Incredible work, Brawny, really. I was at the edge of my seat with my mouth agape while watching that bit.
Interesting to see background cameos from Ribonchan and Speedy Tempo, the skits were interesting, Animelodie, Crimson Glow, and Looney Turtle did well with their roles, and I'm glad to have reprised my role as Backboard Buck again!
3:59 Kinda reminds me about how Masterchef works with the three chefs going around offering advice and critique. You can choose not to take the advice admittedly (unless your serving others in a team challenge) but largely if you don't take their advice and you dish is the worst well they warned you 7:31 Actually from Webster's Dictionary: : in effect : virtually -used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible yeah it's been used so much in this way it's in the dictionary now
Excellent content as always, Brawny! I'm sorry I had to suspend my Patreon subscription, but my financial situation changed and I am currently unable to continue. However, rest assured that as soon as my financial situation stabilizes, I'll be back with an even higher pledge than previously!
HA Jojo refference. Also great points as usual. Glad to see you back. (Edit: Also DEATH BATTLE!!!! Sweet! That had to take *litterally* for-ev-er to animate! And I should know, I've got an animation degree. *receives a well deserved buck to the face* Oh, so that's why it's called that…… *faints*)
Well, we found out why it took so long for this video to come out. That fight scene alone would have taken a couple of long hours to make the new models, choreographing, editing, and having a actual life would take awhile.
With all of the Equestria girls villains there seems to be a theme: Equestrian magic in the human world seems to have the side effect of removing inhibitions. Even Sunset makes a comment before she starts fighting for the crown that she “isn’t a monster.” And in fact it’s listening to the girls congratulate twilight that pushes her over the edge. With a surprise look on her face when she puts on the crown and the tears during her transformation it’s entirely possible that even though her demon self says so I don’t think she really was intending to try to take over Equestria with a teenage army. Next we have Midnight sparkle, Who seems to be the equivalent of twilights desire to learn without any care for consequences or others well-being. Sure she was an all powerful sorceress at that point, but it would been just as fitting for her to be the equivalent of a mad scientist. And now with Gloriosa once the power took over to the point where it changed her she seem to have it in her head that creating this wall of thorns around the entire camp was a good idea. But that same power is able to be used without reprisal by the hu-main 7 most likely because a strong Moral compass (A.k.a. their element) with the fact that they have each other to fall back on to keep them from going overboard.
*Sees Rarity rocking out on a guitar* Wait, where's the freaky electric chicken, Red hot chilli pepper? Excellent review Brawny, can't wait for the next instalment of Brawny Buck's Exciting Adventures.
There is one reason why Applejack could have reasonably been brought in as a judge. That is if functionality was a challenge of the contest. For example, if they were designing uniforms or costumes for a performance then someone with a more practical bent MAYBE a good idea. I have seen art projects where this was a part of the criteria.
The execution of the primary lesson was iffy, but I REALLY liked the secondary lesson this episode is preaching: don't get your friends involved with everything they do. That's pretty remarkable for this show, which tries to insist that literally everything you can do is improved in the presence of friends. More useful than "everyone is a winner."
Neat! A good review with a fun "little" fight at the end. :) Also more insight and personal advice from Brawny, which is always a good thing in my book. :)
This is one of my favorite episodes in MLP and you NAILED it in terms of what's going on in this episode! I love how this episode pokes fun at every featured pony's narrow-minded mindset AND we get a solution to the problem in the episode. Okay, except for Strawberry Sunrise and her self-character assassination because her narrow-minded mindset hasn't changed for the better. >_< Also, great work on the other parts of this video, and it's not just as a casual fighting game guy and into some self-defense. :D
I have a question for you Brawny Buck. Was Apple Bloom Wearing an actually scarf or was she wearing a bow as a scarf because Apple Jack told Apple Bloom she doesn't need a fancy scarf to keep her hat on but it also kinda looked like her bow?
3:46 You’ve never seen the show Face off have you? It’s about a contest between make up and costume artists. And yes in production phase they do give advice to the contestants.
You know I usually enjoy your videos but this one had my laughing all through it with things like the pony in that disco ball walking down the street and causing devestation everywhere around them with the light reflections. The expressions on Gale Forces face at the accademy were also well done.
6:03: More likely 3/5 considering she likely was being generous in the wrong manner by allowing AJ to be a judge when she knows well how different her mind is. Then again these are the two ponies who had a stallion around mess up a dance.
More overarching storyline! I love it! Also, very accurate that I would wind up with my neck bent at a weird angle against a doorframe after sparring with just about anyone, let alone someone with a head that feels like punching a steel girder.
Somehow I feel like that disco ball outfit was made while Coco was having a nervous breakdown from lack of sleep. Or maybe Discord knew she was a friend of Rarity and offered to give her help.
Why is everyone saying that it was rarity’s fault rarity clearly told aj to judge the fashion show she didn’t tell her to destroy the dresses or say that fashion is rediculois
As Brawny explains at 5:44-6:05, Rarity didn't pick an experienced or tactful judge, had the judging happen during the creative process, had a poor scoring system, and did it all without giving Applejack instructions or criteria. And he also says that both Applejack and Rarity are at fault, not just one or the other.
Yah. I understand pretty dresses, and accessories I guess, I mostly stick to rings, but the tight pants, the tiny waist dress (or cage) And all that, I have no idea why that is cool #highheelfree
I'm just going to say it right now I didn't like this episode, I wouldn't say it's top 10 worst list material but it definitely goes on the dishonorable mentions for me

8:50 fun fact: that orange Pegasus OC in the back is me. and I’m also a black belt in karate in real life so this “cameo” completes me! 😁
Yay!!!! We meet Master West finally!!!!

@@thegoodwitchluzura this was intended for the legend of everfree video.

That fight was really well done 👍
It’s good to see you back.
5:01 😮 since when rarity become a guitarist!?
Hehe, using That 70's Show references should at least involve Red Forman.
The Quest for Healing continues! With hopefully MORE epic fights. Or, at least comedic offscreen beatdowns.
P.S.: Glad to see you again Brawny!
10:30 the best scene of the video is here
That's a very in-depth news article.
That karate class scene though
Awesome fight scene!
I agree to come to the Wing Chun class, and i get folded. I DEMAND A REMATCH!
ArcherRedArrow lucky
Trust me when I say, you're probably not going to win. Unless you have experience with magic bullshit, and whipping that out seems unfair.
Neat! A good review with a fun "little" fight at the end. :)

5:24 😶Well...
Awesome fight scene, Brawny!!
can you make a seprate vid of the ending fight scene? That was sweet.

She HAD to have been 100% with the Pears.
Time to Fight : 10:35
Amazing work as always Brawny
Sweet!
Okay, can you PLEASE make more fighting animations, cause that was awesome.
Have you seen Sketchy the Changling’s video on this episode?
seriously though what happened to his wings? I'm starting to think they were chopped off or something
Glad I'm not the only one thinking this

5:04 is that a JoJo refrence
A fight scene worthy of dragonballZ.
Only without 13 episodes of filler and 12 episodes of yelling. ;)
I have a question for you Brawny Buck. Was Apple Bloom Wearing an actually scarf or was she wearing a bow as a scarf because Apple Jack told Apple Bloom she doesn't need a fancy scarf to keep her hat on but it also kinda looked like her bow?

I do go in and out on the brony analyst community, but I really love Brawny's story and how it develops during some of his reviews!

Awesome and funny review, Brawny
"What kind of show are you running, Rarity?" A shitshow.

3:29 That's why I watch your stuff, comedy combined with effort.
Uh Brawny...You know people call me a Disco ball, right? Sooo technically that'd be me XD Love the video though!
Fatality 11:09 Brawny Flawless victory
It's going to be the bane of me to ask, but what the heck was 3:42 about? Anyone know where that came from?
Old Guiness commercial.
*BEST FIGHTING ANIMATION EVER!!!!!*
I disagree but thank you.
Brawny Buck what it was awesome I put beside one of my favorite fighting seen on RWBY volume 2 episode 1 the food fight seen
6:03: More likely 3/5 considering she likely was being generous in the wrong manner by allowing AJ to be a judge when she knows well how different her mind is.

Brawny's stats are high for a four star monster. Good card though.
Ok... Potential stalkers - Pinkie, Scootaloo, & Spike.. Greeeaaaaat
Love your reviews Brawny!!! :DDD

Best. Fight animation. Ever.
I do like that strawberry pony and, if I'm being honest, it seems like she has had to defend strawberries before
Surprisingly a better fight scene than anything in TF2
The answer he seeks is before him but he does not see it
