In this video I am sharing how I managed to get dark black water rings out of my wooden worktops.
What I used:
Oxalic acid:

Protective gloves, goggles, an old bowl, an old toothbrush, 1 tbsp to measure the ingredients, warm water.

Hi Deborah, oh my goodness this was amazing! My heart sank for you when I saw that dark ring, but honestly WOW the result was incredible. I hope you and the family are all doing well, so lovely to hear your calming voice, and such a great way for me to kick start my week with your video xxx
Thank you Simone, you’re so kind! I was so upset when we came home to find the dark water ring but I’m very happy that it came out with a bit of perseverance. I know it was just a short video but I had to share it! Hope you and the family are doing well in Oz. Sending love xx
Thank you soooo much! It worked amazingly on our wooden floor
I have this problem and will try oxalic acid. Thank you!!
Nice directions. Loved the Before and After. Thanks for sharing!
Hello~ I have a dark ring on my table but I haven't been able to fine oxalic acid in a manageable size anywhere. Is there an alternative?
Hi there, you could try Bar Keepers Friend which has Oxalic acid in it. It might take a few tries as it is not as strong but I do use t around my taps and it works well
@@LivinganOrganisedLife thank you! I'll try it out.
Ah this is great - where did you buy the acid from? Can only find it in solution form? Any steer greatly appreciated!
Hi, I put a link in the description box. You can also get it from eBay if you search for: Varroa Treatment OX crystals for beekeepers
Good luck with it ☺️
@@LivinganOrganisedLifeah thanks!
Thank you so much for this! I have a ring on a table I bought and I could not remove the ring! Off to get oxalic acid! Where can I get it? Hardware store?
Thank you. I got mine from EBay, there’s a link in the description ☺️
Thanks for the tip! Does this work on Nespresso descaling agent stain too? Or do you have any recommendations for that stain? It causes almost the same dark stain on wooden countertop.
I would certainly give it a try. Bar Keepers friend is a bit gentler if you wanted to try it first? Best of luck
Fab job
Thank you. It totally works 😊
The ebay link to the oxalic acid doesn't work. Do you have another link please where I could buy this in the UK? 😊
Hi, thanks for letting me know, I’ll change the link. Here’s a link to another stockist:
www.onbuy.com/gb/p/oxalic-acid-crystals-pure-grade-chemical-powder-all-sizes-including-1kg~p23391152/?variant=23391154&size=200g&lid=31922629&exta=cjunct&stat=eyJpcCI6IjguOTkiLCJkcCI6IjAuMDAiLCJsaWQiOjMxOTIyNjI5LCJzIjo4NjAsInQiOjE3MTU1ODAwMTQsImJtYyI6IjUuMCJ9&source=cj&AID=13876643&CJEVENT=090574f111d111ef82c902dd0a18b8fb&extac=4023395
I have been at this for nearly 5 hours now and the stain mark is not shifting. I've just mixed a thicker batch of oxalic acid to see if that helps but I'm losing hope. 😔
If it’s not shifting put loads of oxalic on there with just a tiny bit of water. Scrub it a bit and leave it for a couple hours. I really hope it works for you
Perfect.
worked like a charm after sanding it
Thank you!!!
Great video.
Will it work on a oil stain?
I’m not sure whether it would. Perhaps try methylated spirits and sand it?
Hi. Is this 99.6% oxalic acid?
Yes I think so, I used the oxalic acid crystals
Can liquid oxalic acid remove wood mark?
@mishkatuzzal6849 I know you can get liquid oxalic acid for boats that I’m sure would work
Hi there! Wondering what kind of stain/finish you have on your counter here, or if it's bare wood. We have a similar problem with water damage to our (natural wood) ceiling after the roof leaked, and I'm wondering if this could be a good solution. Yours looks GREAT afterwards. Thanks so much from California!
Hi there, I use Tung oil as it brings out the natural wood colour. You could also use boiled Linseed oil or Danish oil. Best of luck with restoring your wood ceiling! ☺️
