    Pretty sure you need to reprogram the ecu when replacing a battery in the e92. Otherwise the alternator may overcharge the new battery thinking it's a lead battery still back there. They do weird things if you don't tell them what's there.

    M3 and the 7 series are the legends of BMW. I know first hand if you want too make your BMW a power house monster you can do it. The laptop can unlock some major power and tuning the transmission can making controlling that power so much better. I have the SMGii swapped in to a 2002 BMW Z3 M roadster with the legendary S54 engine. Keeping mine naturally aspirated doing port, polish, flowing the heads, honey cone springs, cams, vanos upgrades, more compression, 4 y long tube header, more fuel, making 330rwhp/300tq in a Z3M that was put on a diet to 2100# is so fun. Might turbo someday but had to keep 285 wide rears tires alive as it is. Keep building that M3 you can get 650-800hp with the right turbo but change you head bolts.

    • @Chris-fo9rf
      @Chris-fo9rf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are only 2 turbo e92 m3 atm. The biggest limitation is packaging (engine bay space). The biggest thing that needs to be done to do this however, is the move to a dry sump system.

    I love the looks of the e92 m3, exterior and interior.
    I own a e92 335 myself and love to own a e92 m3 someday.
    I am pretty disappointed about the s65 in both stock vs tuned power and torque, imo a high revving v8 has no place in a 3 series, v8 has less torque then a stage1 335i, they were better off with a lower revving high torque v8.

    • @roymoorman5990

      OR : All M3's should have come with the S65B44, and a 200lbs weight reduction. It would have been easy to save more weight on the rear (alu subframe , CF propshaft, lightweight end muffler. But most weight savings are done at the front end to achieve ~50:50 weight distribution.

    Hoonigan project cars,
    Switch your oil form 10w60 to a decent oil 5w50 weight, (I use redline). Also make a switch to motorad 880090 thermostat 90c. And see if there’s difference.
    I have done that switch on my e92 m3 and feels so much better, idle smoother and snaps in revs quicker.
    5w50 is great for cold start, it’s thin enough for rod bearings yet still it’s a decent 50 weight when warm.
    If anyone asks why I switched from a cooler stock 79c thermostat to a warmer 89-90c thermostat (motorad 880090). Well the car oil cooler thermostat is set around 212F 101c and coolant is regulated at 79c, the can takes forever to get up to temp with colder stack thermostat. As well as the engine is fighting itself with 101c oil temp to 79c coolant temp. With the 90c tstat that leans up the car a bit, which tightens the cylinder walls which translates to less oil consumption, higher compression and more power. My car gets up to temp much quicker, smoother cold start idle, revs quicker engine feels much happier. I just don’t know if it had gained anything with these switches. Look up Troyjeup on Instagram (s85 s65 engine builder) no affiliation.

    I heard swapping a battery in the E90 involves some programming and having to take it to the dealership?

    So I have always wondered with cutting vehicle weight, how important it is to corner balance after. Do certain manufacturers put enough effort into that to a point where it's necessary? Or unless you go to the nth degree, does it not play a big enough role.

      I test drove an M6 convertible on an autocross course. i was disappointed how noodly it felt. How is the torsional stiffness of the E93 in tight turns?

    • @MountainSlayers
      @MountainSlayers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobHnasko I believe BMW did a fantastic job stiffening the chassis for the Vert. She's heavy, no doubt, but you only notice the weight when pulling off the line. After that, body roll and grip are phenomenal on ContiSports or Pilot Sports even with stock suspension. I do a lot of mountain driving and I like to .ake the back step out when I can. I'm glad the M3 chassis is all about hot lap ability while the M6 is a comfortable luxurious POWERHOUSE...I cant say I don't drool over them.
      Then there's the maintenance cost of an e9x m3...they're probably the most affordable BMW by far if maintained well.
