  • This talk was delivered by Dr Emma O'Donnell, Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University, in June 2022. The talk discussed menopause and its impact on the heart.
Before menopause, cardiovascular disease risk is lower in women than men. After menopause, cardiovascular disease risk increases in women in association with the loss of the cardioprotective effects of estrogen. In this talk Dr O’Donnell will examine the role of estrogen in cardiovascular health in women, and will discuss why replacement of estrogen with hormone therapy during menopause is not indicated for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Hotflashes, daily vertigo, memory, comprehension, joint pain, migraines, weakness, daily energy depleted, mood swings daily, eye sight changes, hair and skin changes also breast changes. All started at perimenopause with HRT almost all of that has gotten better. Hormones are important for daily activities.

Not understanding the question "why". Hormones that have a specific function decrease then that's the why.
