I haven’t played a melee character since one of my first playthroughs since ranger and mage were just so much better, especially prehardmode, but now melee actually looks viable
I just did a summoner playthru for thr first time not to long ago and decided to use rope coils and sticky bomb, shit is so good and I'm disappointed I've never used them before
@@Jordan-ud4qvit's just pretty goated, as you just have a whip (a pretty decent range weapon) that can have flasks. Then you can summon little goobers to kill most things with the highest dps. The only downside is, you're made of paper. Late game you could just focus on minion slots. Mounts also scale with summoner so you just have a lot in your toolkit. Just minions won't attack players in pvp

Every time I see a shortsword being able to attack in any direction, it makes me so happy! It was awful when you could only attack horizontally originally.
In line with how many of the best "melee" weapons are actually just projectile weapons, I like how Calamity (and probably some other mods, I'm just most familiar with Calamity) provides a variety of "True Melee" weapons that try to compensate for the lack of projectiles with other stats like insane dps and lifesteal. It makes it feel like you're actually playing melee while also making it more rewarding.
I did a true melee run of Calamity a while ago. While I was able to do my job well (Especially with so many items to buff up my attack size) it was unfortunate to have to pass up so many cool sounding weapons
Scourge was really sweet before the 1.3 update but now it feels incredibly outclassed since by the time you get it you (should) have the Terra Blade. After getting my Vampire Knives I made a Corruption world to get SotC, played with it for a few just to throw it in with all the other weapons I never use. But assuming you don’t have Terra Blade and your main world is corruption it’s a good replacement.
After getting the meowmere and star wrath from the moon lord you can farm events for the horsemans's blade and influx waver, then you can farm plantera for the seedler, queen bee for the bee keeper, obtain an enchanted sword and a copper sword to combine them all into the Zenith
you forgot the last step, it goes something like this (AHEEMMMMMM) "the player, joyously celebrates after defeating moonlord and is FINALLY able to craft zenith, but then realizes that they cant use it on anything since its already the end of the game and fighting a previously deafeated boss with it wouldnt feel as good" "then the player says f terraria and goes to calamity instead"
I'm playing ranged, but you're telling me I can get a Starfury with just some rope and platforms/rail? Also I've died twice to the Eye when it was at less than 100 health so I doubt it's going to be as easy as you say. I have a platinum bow, frostburn arrows, fossil armor, and a bat bat for backup

Am i the one who has NEVER used a gravitational potion to go to sky islands and has still beaten moon lord (i started by bridging up with dirt and now i use the snap rope+ normal ropes to go up)
while mining for chlorophyte the first enemy I killed dropped the yelets, and the morning after I defeated the last mech boss was a soler eclipse and I got the death sickle from the the third reaper I killed, and a second dropped from the fifth. edit: just killed the tenth and got a third
I have honestly never seen nor used the sap of pow for anything other than a flails only vid. Probably because there are better hardmode options out there such as the shadow flame knife, flying knife, etc
You just needed to drink a dangersense potion to find the fake walls in the dungeon. Most of the dungeon is behind the fake walls that crumble if you try to shoot/bomb/mine them.
Not mentioned: ultimate Solar warrior, and winning the Zenith master race and then slamming into everything in the world before starting over. But yeah, that pretty much covered everything, good job.
Just for a update I've beaten the game I now have zenith I have every boss relic (besides the Christmas event) and my world is 26% hollowed and 1% corrupted.
Me not knowing any of this: 1. Gets full gold armor + sword *Preparations:* craft something to summon slime king 2. Beat EOC > Beat Slime king > Beat EOW > Beat Skeletron 3. Creat hellevator + Full set molten armor + sword 4. Get all 4 swords and craft superior night's edge 5. Kill WOF + Pirate raid started 6. Brutally get beaten by pirates and Kill all pirates because I went beserk and switch frim breaker blade to night's edge and brutaly destroy both pirates and ship 7. Used crossbow = Beat Queen Slime + obtain it's mount and hook 8. Kill every Mechanicals with A crossbow + night's edge + obtain and craft full set of hallowed armor + crossbow + Excalibur + Megashark *Preperation:* Mine Chlorophite and get beaten by these turtles while doing it 9. Craft both True swords and Beat Plantera with Megashark in my arena. (also gets beaten by turtles after trying to go back to the surface) 10. Beat the Golem just like how I did to the Dummy to test my dps. *preperations:* Activate Blood event then Solar eclipse in the morning. 11. Obtain Terrablade and accidently Kills the cultist that i didn't know could summon the boss and the pillars. 12. Locks in and fight the cultist boss like its undertail. 13. Also beat every Pillars and get beaten by It. 14. Summoning tge moonlord without me knowing. 15. Moonlord spawns and I judt realized itd attack patterns and did a trick: Atk Right eye first then left then It's 3rd eye then the Heart. 16. After beating moonlord for many times I obtain 2 sword then massacre the powerful Alien invaders with Nyan Cats with the Sword. 17. Finaly found the Enchanted sword. 18. Craft Zenith and Beat the rest of the Bosses. 19. Obtain every Achievements 20. I have beaten the game. What's next? (Skip master and legendary but not Expert mode) (Went straight to GETFIXEDBOI + Legendary mode) 1. Get beaten by Magma slimes *2. My journey continues*

One part about being melee is that you stubbornly refuse to use a variety of weapons during boss fights. You use one weapon the whole fight
Actually the first step is to get a door, a bast statue and some wires and then transmute them into the terra blade.
