Hi. I am not a fan of that hook for this pattern. As you mentioned, there is a hump and down turned eye on that hook. This pattern is designed to sit flat on the water with the foam creating a flat platform to float on. When you change the hook to one that has a hump on it, it takes away the flat surface and makes it more prone to wanting to sit on its side to make up for that lack of a flat surface. Hope that makes sense.

Would it be possible to use a TMC 2302? They have a slight hump on them.

Very nice pattern. What size foam cutter do you mostly use?
Mostly using the medium sized cutter for the foam.
