    I've bought an MT 07 this October and so far I'm loving it. I have to agree that an exhaust completely changes the bike, mine's rocking a Blackwidow exhaust and it sounds absolutely epic. Hands down best 300€ I've spent on anything. I'm really looking forward in fitting the R6 throttle tube but that'll have to wait until spring since where I live there's snow on the ground and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. :(

      I've considered doing the throttle tube mod on mine, too. That might be a good winter project. Cheers, and stay warm!

      @@TimKreitzAdventures To be honest I'm really curious about the throttle tube mod, haven't ridden a bike with it done so I can't compare, although the stock tube does seem a bit "long" when rolling on the throttle when compared to my old CB600F and FZ6 but in the end this does make sense being a more beginner oriented bike.

    Funny, how we lust for bigger and better, and then long for the light and peppy. I really do miss the light and peppy weight and usable power band on my old Z1000. I totally thought my B-King would be a bigger and better “FUN” machine but the weight and manner in which this bike puts down power does not make it more fun to ride in some ways. I've been seriously thinking about buying this motorcycle, but my heart tells me that I belong to a fz09. Plus I need plenty of passing power since my commute is 80 miles a day and 95% on highway. However the fz07 was my first love.

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both are fantastic bikes. I had my eye on the 09 to begin with but the deal I got on the 07 made up my mind. BTW, plenty of passing power with the FZ-07. Mind tops out at around 130 MPH.

    I have a 2016 MT-07. Such an awesome bike. I installed the Two Brothers S1-R exhaust, which I love. I haven't tuned the bike yet though. I haven't installed any tuning kits like you Dobek EJK tuner. Do you recommend it? And where do I find the instruction on how to install it and tune my bike correctly? I haven't done anything like this before. So, I don't want to mess things up either.
    Thank you very much.

      I set my EJK by starting with the suggested profile for the unbaffled Yoshimura and then fine-tuned from there. It works great and I do recommend it. It's only downside is that it will not tune the idle circuit, only the mid and high ranges.

    I’ve got a 1981 Kawasaki z650 and it’s an absolutely ballistic bike and I love it to death, I won’t go into all I’ve done to it, but it hauls arse. Considering I’m only 19 though I’ve been considering getting a newer daily because I’m always worried someone’s gonna steal my kracka one day because of how much attention it gets. I’m basically sold on getting an mt07 now. Unfortunately here in aus we can’t do much in terms of what an RE rider can legally ride and the mt07 is basically the limit on a new bike. I look forward to buying it shortly and will definitely be doing some of these mods, cheers mate

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I never understood the whole displacement/horsepower limit thingy you guys have on your motorcycle licenses. Doesn't make a lot of sense to limit a bike's power, especially here in the US. The more power you have, the safer you are on the freeways. Here in Texas, you simply take a short two-day course then ride whatever you want. In any case, I think you'll dig the MT-07 for sure. It goes as well as some bigger bikes. Cheers.

    I have to ask, I've been looking to add another bike to my garage and was considering an MT 07 but as I've watched tons of videos on it and read reviews I'm seeing reoccurring issues with corrosion especially on the rear swing arm and issues with the "kill switch" sticking and sometimes not working and I'm talking these issues popping up within a year of owning a brand new MT 07. Have you encountered any of these very concerning issues and if so how have you conquered them??

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is zero appreciable corrosion anywhere on my MT-07/FZ-07. Keep in mind, though, that I live in a semi-arid desert climate, so there's not much moisture here and I rarely get caught in the rain. Also, we have mild, warm winters, so there is almost never any salt applied to the roads. First I've heard of this problem, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm curious to research it.

    Hello. I just saw your video. Nice. I have a 2016 model. Can I just ask how much torque did you put on the fork clamps after you lowered it? Thinking of doing the same. What does it do to the geometry of the front end?

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't remember the torque settings off the top of my head, but I used the exact specifications in the shop manual. As for the geometry, it decreases the turning radius slightly and slows the responsiveness a little. IMO, a good trade for the stability and balance I got.

    Just started riding 3 months ago. I had an R3 for the first 10 weeks then bought a 2018 MT-07 3 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. It’s all matt black with custom painted candy red rims. It’s got the full titanium Akra exhaust which sounds incredible, an R6 throttle tube, the tail tidy, frame sliders, Oggy knobs, as well as a few other goodies courtesy of the previous owner. Love love love this bike. I actually feel much safer on this bike than on the R3 due to the extra power and stability.

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's one thing that rarely gets discussed about small-displacement motorcycles; they often don't have enough horsepower to get you out of trouble. Power can be a lifesaver. Glad you're enjoying the bike. I've been riding since 1978 and the FZ-07 is one of the funnest bikes I've ever owned.

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That might be good choice for a first bike, depending on your needs. Just keep in mind that the MT-03 only makes about 35 horsepower. That's going to be a limiting factor in how you use the bike. It'll struggle in many situations to reach 100 mph, which means you won't have much passing ability and that highway travel might be a struggle in certain situations.

    A really well thought out review. I like what Honda and Yamaha have done with this segment. To a greater extent the multi platform powerplant. Affordable and very capable motorcycles. It's what built the Japanese power houses in the 70's. Not sure what's going on with Suzuki and Kawasaki seems to be behind the 8 ball too. 🍺😎👍

    • @TimKreitzAdventures
      @TimKreitzAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Bad times for Suzuki to be sure, and Kawasaki needs to get rid of that EN650/Vulcan S/Versys engine ASAP. That thing sounds terrible and is waaay behind the performance curve of the Yamahas and Hondas.

    Ever since I first saw the FZ07 several years back, I’ve loved it. Sat on it and the 09 many times, and I always like the 07 better. Just fits me perfect. Perhaps one day I’ll have one. Currently I’m riding a ‘15 Grom (mainly for goofing off around the house and organized group rides) as well as a ‘99 Magna. Nice video. The MT07 is a good bike. I had a 2018 model from new for about 14 months .. did loads of cosmetic and crash protection mods and of course the exhaust. Really enjoyed it for the time I had it .. the engine is the star of the show - the rest is a bit a budget and cheap but then that is reflected in the low purchase price. It's no surprise it's a very popular bike .. affordable price, easy to ride, lots of torque for it's capacity, not so much power to be intimidating but plenty enough to have fun and keep seasoned riders smiling. As far as budget, mid sized, capable and fun bikes go it's damned hard to beat 😉 (I only sold mine as I really really wanted a KTM 790 Duke, which I now have 😁)

    Looks good; that is a rather unique color on that flyscreen! With non-adjustable suspension your options are kind of limited, but I love what Race-Tech parts have done for my Bonnie (Cartridge Emulators and stiffer springs), went with that after finding a very noticeable improvement using Gold Valves (and stiffer springs) in the Daytona. Something you might want to look into, they give you a number of options to fit your weight and riding style (if that's a cartridge fork you can assemble the shim stack yourself and install it, it's actually not hard to do at all once you know how to get into the cartridge).

    Typically honest, Tim, and very informative. Also loved how you went through your "slant" on the bike and the how and why of what mods you did. Thumbs up!
