Adele definately gets the upper hand here because she wrote such a beautiful song. I also know its not a competition. But when i hear the original song its sounds to me a litlle closed, which is not the case with Angelina, whose voice is so open. I don't want to compare but I definately felt like Adel's was a cover of the original from Angelina.

A great reaction, but there are a few things I was hoping you would point out that you didn't. One is the… I don't even know what to call it… "catch" in her voice that she uses on the words "like" and "by", in the lines "Treat me like I'm more than just a friend" and "Take my by the hand". She does the same thing every time she sings those lines (4 times, total), and it's something you almost never hear her do in other songs. In fact, the only other song I recall her doing that in was her cover of another Adele song, "When We Were Young" (where it was also on the word "like", when she sings, "That we might be exactly like we were…"). I guess it's something she associates with Adele - although I don't think Adele actually uses that specific effect anywhere in either song (not that I recall… not in the studio versions or the live versions I checked, anyway). The second thing is how she "cuts off" the final word the first time she sings, "'Cause what if I never love again?", halfway through the song. She doesn't hold the note at the end of "again", or give it any vibrato or other decoration; she just ends it immediately, like she's speaking the word instead of singing it. This is also something that seems very unusual for her. I don't know how someone not familiar with her vocals would take it, but as someone who is _very_ familiar with her, it's somewhat disconcerting. It somehow sounds "unresolved" (like an incomplete series of chords or notes), causing (ISTM) a certain feeling of unease (suspense? expectation?) that lasts well into the subsequent musical interlude. I wonder if that was her intent, or whether it's "just me". The third thing is again the way she sings "'Cause what if I never love again?", but this time at the very end of the song. She holds the note quite a long time through the vowel but doesn't add any vibrato until the vowel is finished and she's singing the final consonant ("n"). Again, this seems to me to be _highly_ unusual. I would have expected her to start the vibrato during the vowel, but she chose not to. Weird… [grin]

I love Adele, she has made me cry! But, Angilina sings this song better than the original. Angilina will be the greatest, along with Ali, M.Jordan, M. Jackson, ect... Angelina in my humble opinion is far superior to Adele. Adele is marvellous and i love her to death, but simply put, Angelina is the best, is one of a kind, best of any gender, can sing anything, and is such a wonderful human being to top it off. Always love your Angelina reaction/analysis videos. Your explanations add a lot of depth to the overall understanding of what makes her so special. Many of the things she does are so technically advanced, and yet so subtle, that most people (me included) do not pick up on them until they hear a song many times. You seem to hear it all. I imagine this is how she hears other singers as well. She manages to pick up on some very unique characteristics of other artists, and incorporate them into her covers in her own way. This is why she can cover some artists better than anyone. Amy, Lana, Adele, Billie Holiday..... nobody can top Angelina when covering those artists.

This is only my own personal opinion, one of the things i love when Angelina does a cover, Angelina doesn't set out to enhance her own reputation,. Angelina pays tribute to the original artist and always adds more to the artists reputation. When i listen to Angelina's cover i always feel i understand the song and lyrics better, Angelina tells such a beautiful story and draws you into the song and that lets you appreciate the original artist even more. I appreciate your technical analysis, but also that you have a heart-felt emotional response to her and her music. I do want to comment about Angelina and the mainstream. I have been following her since she first appeared on Norway's Got Talent, the granddaughter I will never have. To me, she was born adult, not in body but in mind--knew her destiny from the cradle asnd controlling it fully ever since. I am not privy to her family's private life, but I do not imagine her having tantrums or demanding her own way. Just as I cannot imagine her becoming mainstream--why on earth would she want that? Does she want more money? fame? She has all she cares about. To mainstream, she would, as a singer's singer, have to give away her heart, become a performer, be scantily clothed like a Beyonce. If Angelina becomes mainstream, mainstream will have to shift to her, not her to it.
Thank you for going back to Angelina. It's amazing to see how she's maturing without losing any of her unique passion. And she is still so young and has so much more growth to come! I agree with everything you said about the way she presents herself. Too many performers do over-sexualize their presence on stage, and it can often come across as a basic lack of confidence in their abilities to convey the emotions of the song. And that absolute surrender to the emotions of what she is singing is what makes her stand out.

She has experienced heartbreak .. with the deaths of both of her grandfathers as well as her good friend Avicii. People say she's lived before regarding her voice .. "she's an old soul" they say .. well - if that is the case she has huge experience with love and loss and relationships built right into her DNA .. probably why she loved jazz so much .. it's melancholy and thoughtful.

A great reaction, but there are a few things I was hoping you would point out that you didn't. One is the… I don't even know what to call it… "catch" in her voice that she uses on the words "like" and "by", in the lines "Treat me like I'm more than just a friend" and "Take my by the hand". She does the same thing every time she sings those lines (4 times, total), and it's something you almost never hear her do in other songs. In fact, the only other song I recall her doing that in was her cover of another Adele song, "When We Were Young" (where it was also on the word "like", when she sings, "That we might be exactly like we were…"). I guess it's something she associates with Adele - although I don't think Adele actually uses that specific effect anywhere in either song (not that I recall… not in the studio versions or the live versions I checked, anyway).
The second thing is how she "cuts off" the final word the first time she sings, "'Cause what if I never love again?", halfway through the song. She doesn't hold the note at the end of "again", or give it any vibrato or other decoration; she just ends it immediately, like she's speaking the word instead of singing it. This is also something that seems very unusual for her. I don't know how someone not familiar with her vocals would take it, but as someone who is _very_ familiar with her, it's somewhat disconcerting. It somehow sounds "unresolved" (like an incomplete series of chords or notes), causing (ISTM) a certain feeling of unease (suspense? expectation?) that lasts well into the subsequent musical interlude. I wonder if that was her intent, or whether it's "just me".
The third thing is again the way she sings "'Cause what if I never love again?", but this time at the very end of the song. She holds the note quite a long time through the vowel but doesn't add any vibrato until the vowel is finished and she's singing the final consonant ("n"). Again, this seems to me to be _highly_ unusual. I would have expected her to start the vibrato during the vowel, but she chose not to. Weird… [grin]

Hi Elizabeth, I'm afraid to say that your a little slow on the up take with Angelina, she done so many more songs, Sign Of The Times is only on Tiktoc but is a Stunning version, Easy On Me Abele song is I believe even better, and Suspicious Minds Elvis, Angelina version starts a little way in the song, but again this is a stunning version, Angelina is heading one way to become a Superstar.. 😁 💞 Xx
I love Adele, she has made me cry! But, Angilina sings this song better than the original. Angilina will be the greatest, along with Ali, M.Jordan, M. Jackson, ect... Angilina will sing herself to the top and will go down in history as greatest female singer of all time. That's what I think. I knew when I first saw Angilina over 7 years ago that she was going to be a great singer, like she said, a superstar. And, I know how to pick'em! I can see a Star, when it's right in front of me. Angelina in my humble opinion is far superior to Adele. Adele is marvellous and i love her to death, but simply put, Angelina is the best, is one of a kind, best of any gender, can sing anything, and is such a wonderful human being to top it off. I am almost 70 and it has taken almost my entire life to find someone who can touch me like this beautiful young lady.
Andre Matos was a fantastic singer that passed away in 2019, he sang so much amazing songs like wuthering heights, time and carry on (on Angra), and the fantastic Living for the night (on Viper).. will be great if you analyze one of his songs!!

Always love your Angelina reaction/analysis videos. Your explanations add a lot of depth to the overall understanding of what makes her so special. Many of the things she does are so technically advanced, and yet so subtle, that most people (me included) do not pick up on them until they hear a song many times. You seem to hear it all. I imagine this is how she hears other singers as well. She manages to pick up on some very unique characteristics of other artists, and incorporate them into her covers in her own way. This is why she can cover some artists better than anyone. Amy, Lana, Adele, Billie Holiday..... nobody can top Angelina when covering those artists.
Rusty you are the MAN! Without you I doubt Angelina would have half of the Angels she has now. Don’t get me wrong, she’d get them on her own but not a fast as you’ve been able to achieve for a little girl to a young lady.

This is only my own personal opinion, one of the things i love when Angelina does a cover, Angelina doesn't set out to enhance her own reputation,. Angelina pays tribute to the original artist and always adds more to the artists reputation. When i listen to Angelina's cover i always feel i understand the song and lyrics better, Angelina tells such a beautiful story and draws you into the song and that lets you appreciate the original artist even more. I appreciate your technical analysis, but also that you have a heart-felt emotional response to her and her music. I do want to comment about Angelina and the mainstream. I have been following her since she first appeared on Norway's Got Talent, the granddaughter I will never have. To me, she was born adult, not in body but in mind--knew her destiny from the cradle asnd controlling it fully ever since. I am not privy to her family's private life, but I do not imagine her having tantrums or demanding her own way. Just as I cannot imagine her becoming mainstream--why on earth would she want that? Does she want more money? fame? She has all she cares about. To mainstream, she would, as a singer's singer, have to give away her heart, become a performer, be scantily clothed like a Beyonce. If Angelina becomes mainstream, mainstream will have to shift to her, not her to it.

I also liked your reference to her being classy. I truly believe that Angelina has no desire to be a "cookie-cutter" pop singer. Yes, she wants to be a star, but on her terms. Her desire is to spread love through music, and I'm sure her record label wants her to put out music that will sell and recoup their investment, but so far they are letting this prodigy set the course. When she finishes school, her songs will one day be classics.
