That one performance of Run Away With Me is lyrically terrible (bc he just could not keep it together) but honestly musically it was still good and that's true talent
Lily I have three love of my lives. 1. Jeremy Jordan 2. Ben platt 3. Andrew rannells Two of them may be gay and the other is married but i have unhealthy obsessions with them
He signed my playbill when I saw him in Waitress, and ofc I was so excited and jumping up and down. He smiled at me and said: “that’s right, jump up and down.” And I was DEAD.
I know some people might completely disagree with me, but this should've been in the finished musical. It gives so much more insight into Dr. Pomatter's character. In the musical we know now, he has little to no reason for actually cheating on his wife. In "Bad Idea," he sings "I need a bad idea" along with Jenna. But why? This song heavily suggests that his wife is not supportive of him, and now that he's met Jenna, he finally has someone in his life who believes in him. Also, goddamn, this is so beautiful. What a missed opportunity, Sara Barreilles! Edit: Also, this song kinda ties in with Jenna's character too. She's dreamed about opening her own pie shop, but Earl clearly is not a very supportive husband. Again, I stand by my point, and this song is still beautiful. Thank you and goodnight
I agree. This adds so much more depth to Dr. Pomatter's character. Because as much as I love the character, I never understood what led him to cheat on his wife, who didn't seem all that bad when we met her. But this song makes everything make more sense.
I never thought about the implications this song had about his wife... And I agree, it should've been in the show. The emotion of this song is on pars with She Used To be Mine, if not a little more powerful. I'm assuming this is one of those choices where they felt It Only Takes A Taste was a better stage song, or they wanted to focus on building Pomatter's and Jenna's chemistry through the duet.
100% agree with this. Like yes they have a spark of attraction between them. But this song makes it clear they both need something that they're not getting and its what drives them together
Pomatter definitely deserved a better character arc than he got, but I'm actually pretty glad this song was cut because it wasn't the way to do give him it. Waitress's overarching message, at the very least in my opinion, is about seeking happiness and chasing dreams. While at first glance this song is perfect for that, it's ultimately about having someone else be there; and well yes, that's not a bad thing, everyone else's arc is about doing what's best for you, regardless of what others think. And having Pomatter's be about how he needed someone else to support him to chase his dreams is,,, just sort of weird haha. Also, Pomatter in the final version is the just the most boring person with no dreams, which is partially why he did what he did. Imo, Happy Enough would've been great for a Pomatter song. Don't get me wrong, I think this song is absolutely gorgeous and I adore it, I just think it would've been good for Pomatter's arc, at least not in the current/final version.
Coral Lilac i think that's why it's not in the final - it's too sad and too About Pomatter and His Unrequited Childhood Crush (and consequently, dreams) when it shouldve been a quirky "haha jenna reminds him of his childhood crush how cute and awkward and adorable"

Never before has a song ever touched me so deeply on a personal level like this. Growing up, this is definitely something I, along with a certain person I knew needed to hear (as I'm sure did countless other people who were, or ARE, considered odd balls growing up). It's beautiful and just so heartbreaking - but at the same time, it has hope. It's uplifting. It says that there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and that there are people out there who are willing to listen and support you, and you're deserving of that. I really do wish that they had found a way to incorporate this into the final version of show. I heard Sara Bareilles say in an interview about this show that the audience should be able to see themselves in at least some aspect of one of the characters. This is where I see myself. I love this more than words can describe. Wow.
I love how the camera arcs at the 2nd verse "At the end of the block, the ramshackle diner stood" and shows the Broadway theater where people mostly went for their spare time and where they meet Jenna
What an amazing message & touching song. Brilliantly beautiful. Sara B has such a gift for weaving lyrics & intertwining them with melodies to create word pictures. We’re blessed to have finally HEARD this masterpiece.
I love how you can hear Sara through the entire song, from the melody to the lyrics. It's like she's there with every song even if she's not the one performing it and i think that's just simply magical.
I've never more resonated with as song than at this moment with this song. I am such the dreamer, and my husband is my Believer. My Husband saved me in so many ways by just believing I can do anything I put my mind to. Jeremy manages to put so much feeling into this, lulling you in, and taking you off into his world of dreaming of a future more beautiful than the dark painful present. He is such a good Dr. Pomatter, and I love his singing and his work, truly a remarkable talent and person. God I love this song.
Omg this adds sooooooo much to doctor pomaters character!!! I wish this was in the show!!! Also I’m seeing him in February at his 54 below show and I REALLY hope he does this song!

When I was a boy
Hardly more than 10 years old
My family moved to a small town
And I was destroyed leaving all my friends behind
And if I had the choice, we’d’ve stayed put
It’s only now I can see
Sometimes a little change can be good
At the end of the block
The ramshackle diner stood
My after school spot just to pass time
Where I met a girl nearly three times my age
But still she painted my world with her kind words
And soft curves
Just a schoolboy crush
But you remind me of her
She saw something in me
I was lonely and misunderstood
She’d ask me to write down my wildest schemes
And over slices of blueberry pie
I learned to dream
She’d say “What good’s a dreamer without a believer?
We all just need someone to care
One who might listen and root for our wishes
Someone to simply be glad that we’re there
What good’s a hand if nobody needs holding?
When everything else falls away
If no one believes her, what good’s a dreamer anyway?”
Thank god for that place
It practically saved me
Those school kids just didn’t take kind to this stranger
And I was eccentric, all grand plans and inventions
That I would’ve just thrown away
By listening she let me have something to say

Wow.
Jeremy Jordan is honestly love
Jeremy Jordan ... you are my hero ❤️
i feel like this song adds so much to his character, and shows the first bits of his feelings for jenna
No, I haven't been listening to this nonstop since it came out
No way
Nuh uh
Never
I love how the camera arcs at the 2nd verse "At the end of the block, the ramshackle diner stood" and shows the Broadway theater where people mostly went for their spare time and where they meet Jenna
What an amazing message & touching song. Brilliantly beautiful. Sara B has such a gift for weaving lyrics & intertwining them with melodies to create word pictures. We’re blessed to have finally HEARD this masterpiece.
Please, please record an album so I can listen to you all the time!
Im in this mood right now. Jeremy, ❤️my man, thank you. Sarah, just beautiful, hon.🌹
I love how you can hear Sara through the entire song, from the melody to the lyrics. It's like she's there with every song even if she's not the one performing it and i think that's just simply magical.
Jeremy Jordan paints my world 😭 How could they cut this gorgeous piece of magic?
Jeremy Jordan is the most beautiful thing!!! This song could have so made it to Waitress, I’ve instantly fell in love with it! ❤️🥧
One of the greatest performers of our generation no doubt
Voice, emotion, power, charm, attitude, looks =Jeremy Jordan
I can't wait for this EP. This is chillingly beautiful.
I am dead! Anything from the mouth of JJ and waitress I love!
My day has been blessed. LOVE me some Jeremy Jordan 😍
I’m so glad that they released this song because I’ve never cried this hard :(
I NEED a recorded version of him singing this on iTunes 😫
Absolutely beautiful ((,: I’m so so upset that this beautiful show is closing soon!!
