"Fast food" obviously doesn't mean the same thing in Japan as in the US because you would not see the attention to detail, the freshness and handmade aspects. And then there's the udon masters. There's no equivalent to anything like that in the US. I'm jealous.
It was in Japan that I learned that fast food did not equal unhealthy options. I loved the fact that for the same price and waiting time as a Big Mac, I could get udon or rice bowls that were healthy and filling.

I love how Japan takes so much care into their products and services. Example: They said they don't serve dashi two hours old because they want the best flavor for their customers. In the US as long as the health department said it was okay, they would use it until it's gone.

One of my favorite things about these sorts of places in Japan is how, no matter the weather or anything, people like businessmen will slurp down a whole bowl in under 5 minutes, no waiting for cooling. Saw that several times over my trips there, it's honestly impressive.

We have Marugame here in the Philippines, and it's really good for the price. Pre-pandemic, the lines for lunch and dinner in all their stores were crazy. You'd wait at least 30 minutes to eat!

I just found out Marugame Udon is actually a well known udon restaurant in Japan. There is one marugame udon open at stonestown galleria - san francisco. a Plaza next to San Francisco State University. I've been there many times and I always get the Curry Udon. It is my favourite. :D

Fast-casual industry leaders include Panera Bread, Five Guys Burgers, Jimmy Johns Gourmet Sandwich Shop, and Chipotle Mexican Grill. Fast Food is more like McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell etc. There is a difference!
For anyone who doesn't know, one of my favorite Japanese dishes is featured at 9:00. Its called a Katsu don and is typically comprise of fried pork cutlet and onions, boiled in a sweet umami based sauce with fresh egg cracked over top and steamed for 20 to 40 seconds. Then it is served over a bed of rice. The rice absorbs the liquid, the pork is still crispy, and the onions are nice and soft. The egg adds a nice richness as well. Highly recommend trying this dish. It can also be made with other type of meat, like chicken!
This was very interesting and I loved the background music choices. one of your very best. Who knew, how much precision goes into making the perfect noodle and for a fast food joint, this was quite impressive.
It’s a nice thought but Americans are too lazy to do all that fresh prep and work. And the cleanliness would be subpar. We can’t get Americans to get off their unemployment butts and work although there are signs at every store and restaurant looking for workers!

Marguame Udon (as it's known in the States) is SUCH an amazing restaurant. Got to try it at the first US location in Waikiki and fell in love. Soon after they opened a location in SF (where I'm from) and it's been a usual go to spot for my family since then. Even though I don't live in SF anymore i always try to make an effort to go whenever I visit!

I used to work at Marugame In Honolulu, Hawaii. Man I wish I had co workers who do their job like this instead of calling in sick, complain, and quit cuz they can't handle working pressure. I had to handle cooking noodle, prepping broth, and sometimes prepping every line each week. I respect workers in Japan. Always know the value of hard work and perfection

I used to work at Marugame In Honolulu, Hawaii. Man I wish I had co workers who do their job like this instead of calling in sick, complain, and quit cuz they can't handle working pressure. I had to handle cooking noodle, prepping broth, and sometimes prepping every line each week. I respect workers in Japan. Always know the value of hard work and perfection

Marugame just opened a couple of locations in the Dallas, TX area. It's great to see them expanding into the US.
Hope these are fully owned by the Japanese company and NOT franchise operations.
@@jarjarbinks3193 They are franchised, but having been to the Marugame in Berkeley, California, I can tell that the company holds their franchisees to high standards amd cares about the customer experience. Very different when you compare it to Yoshinoya U.S. vs Japan.
@@jerseydevs2000 The problem is the way how restaurant workers are treated/paid in the US! If it is not a livable wage like they get in Japan, it is impossible to expect anywhere near the same level of service.
In My country Indonesia most favorite Udon is 'Marugame Udon', thats all i know, but lot of Udon in Indonesia. thanks for great vlog 👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐, Oh ya kakiage, Niku Udon, Tempura, tofu all combination complete we can find in there (Marugame Udon)

lol it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who likes kake udon, I sometimes feel like people are judging me thinking it's too plain cause there's not extra stuff but I really love udon and its delicious even by itself and with some green onion and egg
One of the things I love about Paolo channel is that he get serious when it comes to food. And I got to say this ain’t no fast food restaurant…that is a baller udon restaurant 👌. Just watching this video for 10minutes got me really hungry
