    I thought the point was to have startup investment and then build a business that could turn a profit not exist solely off of VC funding.

    • @SabeerAbdulla
      @SabeerAbdulla ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Not really. Startups raise funding for exponential growth with little focus on profits and more on revenues in the first decade. In the hopes of keeping the customer hooked with convenience and sheer habit. Essentially the drug dealer model of doing business 😅

      Low-/zero-interest rate phenomena: capital was cheap for VCs and so they placed a lot of high-risk bets on a lot startups, who became addicted to the idea of successive raises with which to chase "scale" while assuming they could "monetize later."
      It would be great to get back to sound unit economics and VC for the specific purpose of scale _after_ finding product-market fit, but the social incentives suggest this won't happen.

    My experience as an entrepreneur is that CUSTOMERS that are assumed are far more important than Money! With CUSTOMERS you can start off with your feet running.

      Only such companies will survive. However the vast majority of founders are even more short sighted. Their only aim is to hype up the business and sell asap.

  • @AvadGroup
    @AvadGroup ปีที่แล้ว +17

    You started right before the demand went crazy during covid, and that was almost five years ago. If you are not making any profits after five years it doesn’t mean you are start up, it means you are a struggling business.

    • @SabeerAbdulla
      @SabeerAbdulla ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most startups aim for exponential growth by burning cash in the first decade, which neatly dovetails with the typical VC fund cycle of around the same timeframe. The difference between a startup and a SME is tech enablement and exponential growth.

    Concerns on recession caused large companies to cut pack on outsourced tech spending to build up cash reserves. Fixed income become more viable for investors with the end of cheap money. Obviously this happens to tech companies.

    • @user-wt5ou4mz3w
      @user-wt5ou4mz3w ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true, outsourced is needed for cost-cutting, doing everything in-house is way more expensive, your logic is horrendous 😂

    • @lepidoptera9337
      @lepidoptera9337 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-wt5ou4mz3w Outsourcing doesn't cut cost (the company that is doing the work for you has to make a profit which comes out of yours). Outsourcing is quick and simple because it doesn't require in-house expertise and up-front investment. If you only want to be around for a short time, then you outsource. If you are planning for the long run, then you get an edge by doing things in-house.

    This is so easy, reasons to raise capital are:
    1- Signal of Future Recession.
    2- High Interest Rate.
    3- No More Free Money From Uncle Sam.

    Unfortunately there’s a VC bubble. Too many start-ups raised that shouldn’t have (pre 2021). If VC’s are smart, they will return their funds to their LP’s…
    As a founder - continue bootstrapping, stay motivated, understand seed is the new Series A. Which means, you will need to demonstrate continuous rapid growth and hit the appropriate revenue targets within your industry. Alternatively, this is great because it forces us to innovate more…

    • @lepidoptera9337
      @lepidoptera9337 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why would a VC return money to an LP????? That's investing at full risk. If you don't like it, put your money on the bank and get 4% or more right now. Zero risk. Also not much of a return.

  • @salkryeful

    Instead of continuing to beg for money, perhaps startups should cut costs and become profitable.

    Investment in stocks is a great way to invest your money. The team is constantly checking the market for changes and make sure that you are always informed about the best time to invest. As a result, I have made more money than ever before, and I don't have to manage my portfolio on my own! Invest in stocks, it's worth it!
