  • The last thing you want to do with a supercharged engine is run lean. This time, we'll double the flow of fuel by installing a new mechanical fuel pump! We will also fiddle with the engine and blower pulleys a bit more, show off a special spark plug tool, and try not to get impatient waiting to hear this thing running!
    Timeline of filming: January 10th, 2018 - January 19th, 2018
    Song List (Order of First Appearance):
    0:01 Stalling - Topher Mohr and Alex Elena
    6:26 Well Worth the Wait - Silent Partner
    9:38 Turnpike - Silent Partner

    Did the fuel pump on my second gen camaro and I wish I knew about suspending that push rod needles to say it was hell and ended up modifying a flat head screwdriver to hold it up while installing it. Great video man!

    I never knew i could be so interested in something as stupid as a fuel pump. Good job on the video.

    I was never an RTV fan. Gasket sealer seemed to work OK for me. I know they are very similar but taking something off with sealer instead of RTV just seemed easier and cleaner.

    Another way to hold the push rod up is to put some grease on ur finger and rub it on the rod then push it up and it holds itself up just long enough to put the new pump in

    Well, that answered my question. I was pretty sure they didn't put the fuel pump in the gas tank yet. I can't for the life of me see why they put it in the fuel tank. I know they need an electric pump for fuel injection but what are the pros and cons of using an inline electric fuel pump where it's easier to get to when it takes a shit?

    Impressive, .... Most impressive, but you are not a Jedi yet.
    LOL! When it fires up and runs and stays in one piece, then you shall be a Jedi!
    Fantastic series my man.

    Take the blower off lean it forwards ona good angle and hold it cause you didnt fill the nose resavoir.
    the front berring will die .
    Im curios if they said that in your instructions

    • @FuzzyDiceProjects
      @FuzzyDiceProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The instructions never mentioned that and I couldn't find anybody online mentioning that, but it does seem like a good idea to me. Thanks for the tip!

    Hopefully you eventually blocked off the fuel pump mount on the bolock and put in an electric inline instead. Much more reliable on hot days.
    An awesome build by a really cool dude.

      Mechanical pumps are just as reliable if not more. Plus they are silent. You just need to mitigate heat by having a return line or vapor bleed.

    🤔 Hmmm, I wonder if all the stress of the belts & pulleys is resting on the 5½" bolt that's going into the center of crank? 🤔

    You don't use a torque wrench for a pipe plug. You might have over tighten that plug on the supercharger

    • @FuzzyDiceProjects
      @FuzzyDiceProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pipe plugs have torque suggestions, just like anything else! They are not usually listed but you can look up a chart of them online. They will have different values depending on the materials involved though.

    That’s not a pontiac engine. Looks like a chevy small block.

    • @FuzzyDiceProjects
      @FuzzyDiceProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It looks that way because it is! The car came factory with a Chevy 305 but it was swapped for a Chevy 350. Not entirely inaccurate as they were putting Chevy 350s in these by this year and not Pontiac 350s.

    Instructions towards the end says thats the rear bearing thats the sealed bearing .
    and your add is showing the front of the bearing .
    Ask yourself What is the oil doing in there?
    There is only two bearings in the blower .
    The front bearing has a load on it like the crank on a motor engine crank from a tensioner
    and is propelled by a 350 crank over driven.
    It must be for engine piston?
    Was your coupler in oil?
    I think the seal in front in your add is to keep oil from leaking out your snout .LOL
    Thats why theres a oil seal that goes in front of the bearing! LOL
    Call the weind Tech.

    Its in the B&M instuctions and in the Holly online instructions And its a bitch to find .
    Towards the end of step 5 on B*M instructions .
    Fill It tilt it forwards towards the floor and wait 2 minutes 90 weight moves slow and turn front wheel
    sit it on level bench for ten minutes for the flowback to have a chance to level out on the bump on the bottom of nose
    near the blower I think its to clear thermastat housing.
    and then top it off.
    On my B&M it has a weep hole I like your window .
    Id say once a year tilt the oil in the nose or put it ona steep loading dock ramp with oil topped off.
    I remember my nose running dry at least once because the tilt on my truck engine.
    I got 5 bucks says it fixes your noise .
    and remember the 90 weit moves like honey.LOL
    I should be a weider tech .LOL
    I got 65000 miles on mine and is like new exept for the broke in teflon blades LOL

      Looking into it a bit more it seems like the Weiand units, at least the 144s, use a sealed snout bearing. That would be why your method isn't mentioned in the Weiand instructions. It's not in the Holley online manual but I see that it is for the B&M. www.holley.com/products/superchargers/supercharger_components/parts/91191
      The B&M manual also mentions baffles under the fill plug which my unit does not have. Since mine is the newer-style of case and snout it should have the sealed bearing.

    The label on all those bolts, is that F my wallet?

    • @FuzzyDiceProjects
      @FuzzyDiceProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, yes it is! They had by far the best price I could find for the bolts I needed, and free shipping on $25 meant I just threw in some other bolts and parts I couldn't get at the local hardware stores as well. They did fine by me!
