Excellent video, especially for your first time. Very interesting to see the behind the scenes things that go on in the police station. I can definitely see how the tattoos would help you identify with people. I know from past volunteer experience that some people can be nervous approaching police. Also that while priority one driving can look like fun and can induce a bit of adrenaline, it is also a big responsibility as if you have an accident that is your fault you are still fully responsible.
You should come and find out for yourself you'd freak out for the fact that our Police officers don't go around shooting people for the most dumbest reasons that they could possibly think of. Our Police here in Aotearoa a.k.a New Zealand are respectful and show alot of compassion towards other people even when someone has gone out of their way to try abuse our Officers they still manage to hold their composure and they definitely deserve their respect as Police Officers as it's not something they demand but that they've earned on a daily. I'm no saint and have stuffed thing's up for myself with the law numerous amount of times but one of my nieces is a frontline officer and my daughter wants to be a Police officer so i fully Tautoko them. (Tautoko which is the Māori translation word for support). 1 love to our New Zealand Police force you guy's really do make a difference to our Land ka mau te wehi Kia ora.

Great Vlog. This is a really insightful series. I've pondered going into the police force for years but now I've got two kids so will wait a bit before revisiting that idea again. Thanks for all you do!
As an officer in the States it’s weird not seeing a squad computer or cage for the back seat to do secure transport for suspects in custody. Can dispatch push call updates/notes digitally onto phones or does everything need to be broadcast on the radio. Additionally can officers conduct vehicle registration and driver license checks from their car without having to call it through dispatch? All in all it’s a good VLOG series and interesting to see what’s the same or different in other countries.

Do you think you got treated different because you joined at a young age? Like in terms of in the workplace but then also with offenders? Or was there not much difference would you say?
@William Solia I gave a thumbs up to your comment, but I do think 17 is a bit young, army is different to Police, Police really have to think on their feet. I don't think a 17 year old has the compassion to rationalize a volatile situation. Where a soldier is more or less unleashed into a situation, like, do what I showed you.
@William Solia wrong, it depends how mature you are and your life experiences, the youngest you can apply is 18, I've known poeple be accepted at the age of 18 and poeple be turned away at the age of 20 for not having enough life experience
You are awesome x one thing i noticed is that in NZ police cars you don't have anything to separate the driver from the suspect in the back, like a guard or protective screen or something like in the US or other countries. From an officer safety point of view.
I’ve always been curious, I have 2 questions. 1: how do you know when a radio call is for you specifically? 2: Can you activate your lights and sirens on your steering wheel?
@haimona tipene . They have call signs that are used for each specific units which is assigned to them. Your second question I'm not too sure about. I don't think so. But I think you can activate the radio as I said not fully sure
@@uilliam6926 Nah, as someone with a lot of experience on a racetrack, her driving in her personal car and the Police car was shocking. The one handed method stops you being able to have a balanced and controlled turn whole increasong the risk of over or under turning the wheel. This risk is only elevated the faster you go and the more hazards in your path.
I honestly loved this vlog ❤ i learnt alot judt in this short video and was debating what to do this year and it actually gave me a nudge to want to go to police collage even more , its always been in the back of my head just never saw it though the eyes of someone who actually loves doing it ❤

I had advice from a constable that visited my school to see the world, get into different jobs, meet different kinds of people and then join the police later on. I reckon I have never seen so many different people in many different jobs I’ve been, in this country alone.

I'm almost 13 and for as long as i can remember I've always wanted to be a police officer. I have looked up to my uncle Mark.D he is a police officer and has been in the job for quite some time now. So it's cool having someone in the family in the job that I want to do.
Do you get secure parking for your own car during the day? I have entered the vetting process atm and only have that one question so far. I have a Mitsubishi Evolution and a Toyota Supra which I wouldn't want to be stolen during my shift haha

I was failed in Restrict Lisence because I used one hand to control steering wheel. So are police officers allowed to drive by one hand?
