DAY PASS UPDATE Freeport Bahamas - Best Things to See and Do in Freeport Bahamas

- We are back in Freeport Bahamas or should I say Freeport Grand Bahama and it is one of my favorite Bahama Destinations and you will see why in this day pass UPDATE excursion tour. There is also a great shopping destination called Port Lacaya Marketplace which is about 15 or 20 minute cab ride from the port in Freeport Grand Bahama. It is one of our favorite things to do when visiting Freeport if we just want to relax at a quiet beach. Be sure to check out my Kayak tour in Freeport as well as that is a favorite too. (LINK BELOW) Even just browsing around the port is fun, they have some of the best conch fritters at the port you will ever have.

INSTRUCTIONS FROM CRUISE PORT:
1. Call the Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan Resort at 1-242-373-1333 to make sure they still offer the day pass and for current rates. As of 04/01/2022 the prices was$25.00 for facility and beach access. There was Lunch and Breakfast option also for $75.00 with full access.
2. Take a cab from the Cruise port in Freeport to Port Lacaya Marketplace. We like to go here first becaused the Hotel that offers the day passes does not open until 9:00 AM and all the cab drivers know where the Port Lacaya Marketplace is and may try and charge you more to go directly to the hotel which is like a block or 2 walk. The rate as of 06/01/2022 was $20.00 per person round trip.
TIP: They will try and get you to pay all up front, but I suggest only paying one way fare because you may not find the same cab driver to take you back and you will lose money.
3. Walk right in the lobby at the hotel and will be a booth directly to the left with a person that collects money for the day pass. YOUR THERE AND HAVE A GREAT STAY!!!!!

Great information. You mention getting the pass upon arrival at the resort. Will they sell out for Spring Break? I'm concerned if I need to book online. Also, approximately what does the cab cost? Thank you for your help.
Never had issues getting passes at the hotel... cab ride usually 20 dollars per person round-trip. Have fun. 👍👍

April 28, 2024 update - Just got off the phone with the propertly using the number provided in the description of this video. I also found a guest services email and phone number on the property website, but neither worked.
The current day pass options I was given on the phone are $100 for all inclusive (drinks, breakfast buffet or lunch sit down service at Waves) or $35 for use of the pools (4 available and working when I called), towels and beach. She said that if you tell the staff when you need to leave to get back to the cruise ship terminal, that they can assist in securing a cab at the proper time.
Not trying to hijack the video/comments. Just sharing what I learned when I called today. :)
I was sold on the kayak tour in the other video, but it looks like our ship only has 4 slots left, and we have 5 people in our party. So, thinking about doing the day pass with pool and beach access instead. But at $35, we may just get a cab to Banana Bay and spend our $35 per person on food.

I was literally about to book for taino beach resort based on great reviews, but now found this video of yours amd torn! Been to taino resort ( which fyi is different than just taino beach)
We have been going here for 7 years usually once a year. The resort is beautiful plus it's right across from the market to do shopping eating bars and so much more.
Im planning a cruise trip to Bahamas and freeport is one of the cities. Which beach is this in the video and how far from the cruise port?
This is lighthouse pointe. The beach is only accessed from the hotel you have to purchase a day pass.

I just purchased a day pass at the lighthouse pointe at Grand Lucayan. Since it' my first time in Bamahas and cruise ship I am so worried about getting a taxi to the resort. Do you know if they are any hotel shuttles to the resort? I am just little worried and scared being in Bamahas for the first time. Thanks..also I booked this day pass based on your video review. Lol no worries... been there many times... so many taxis go there every day. This last time we were in a van with about 10 people going to the same place... we usually go to lighthouse then walk to the market and shop and go back from the market. You will have a blast... I like to pay one way and then pay one way from market place... have fun and want to hear all about it. 👍👍👍👍

Only buy them at the resort or you will pay way to much. I always call them to Make sure they still have the day pass prior to going. I called a few months ago and they still sell them right inside the door at the resort.

Thanks for this informative video. I booked a day pass at this resort for next month. However, I just found out US embassay issurd travel warning in Freeport in Bahamas.. Does this resort have security guards?
Nassau has travel warnings also but never felt unsafe in Freeport. Just be sure to use a taxi and not private company.

I saw bad reviews on carnival for "Grand Lucayan Resort Getaway with Lunch". It didnt say anythinf about lighthouse point. Is that the same hotel that u are racing about here?
Yes they are the same. But go on your own. Much cheaper and I would skip the lunch and walk over to the market.

Yes we went there by cruise ship. They have another package that includes food and drinks. I Have 2 videos on this so watch both videos to not miss some details.

How did the taxi/shuttle work? What are the costs
It was 10 dollars per person each way for like a van... you can do private taxi for your party too a little more. You will see signs when you get off the ship for taxis or just ask.

Yes it is wheel chair accessible. Not sure about beach wheel chairs though. I would call them. Have a great time. 👍

Drinks not included. Day pass was 25 dollars each at the resort. You will pay much higher if buy online somewhere.
