in my mind i was thinking 7 bit because all the values i paid attention to only have 128 assignable values which is 7 bit instead of 256 values with 8 bit. i was not aware there were other values that used more than 128 until you pointed this out and i did some more research. thanks.
If you own an iPad you can do all this and it won't cost you a penny. Plus you can send much more than 30 midi messages. You can label each programmed button so you know exactly what it does Just put the iPad on your music rest or if that's being used buy a stand to put next to you.
Glad you found it useful. When i got mine, the instructions though simple still were confusing me because I was trying to understand how the MFC knew how to actually make the changes on the tyros, Once I figured out the Tyros was setting up each button as a midi note it became more clear. I figured I was not the only one confused about this based on many forum posts that I read so hoped this video might be helpful to some. Glad you could use it
Will this be able to control a Casio CTK6000? My keyboard has midi, but only a USB B jack for midi. I'm looking for something similar to the Keith McMillen 12 step that can play chords with my feet while I play bass guitar.
This would not be a good fit for this, you should get a foot peddle controller that's designed for playing notes I tried using this for just playing notes and its just not laid out right. and the buttons are just to stiff to really use for that kind of playing, Also watch this guys video th-cam.com/video/gTu6soq2j_k/w-d-xo.html You need to get a midi host box which will make your usb b midi connection connect to 5 pin din midi and he explains that in his video
Does anyone know how to set the MFC-10 Foot Controller with the Yamaha Genos? Also does it controller work with the PSR-SX900? Does anyone have the instruction to setup with those arranger? Thanks in advance!
Excellent video! Do you know if I can use this FC to switch voices in Yamaha MX61, it has MIDI plugs... I don't want to make such a big expense just to realize it won't work. Thanks for the video, I have a very good idea of the controller now.
Iris Charles Yes, but it will not have an easy setup like it does on the tyros, you will have to do some setup on the MFC10 manually, but once its all configured it will do what you want just fine. If there is a Guitar Center near by they have a good return policy if you don't like it, I am not sure what their policy is for mail order but if you buy it from the store directly you have like 45 days to try it out.
+Iris Charles Hi, i too have a an MX61 mainly for live gig purposes. If you have gone forth and bought this foot controller (or any other) i would like to know if it is that helpful, as i myself am looking for something similar. Thank you.
Nishant Nair I bought the controller in sweetwater because of their return policy! But after many messages with Yamaha Support, we figured out that the controller won't work to change the Parts in a Performance. im trying to connect the controller to my pc and use it for my guitar. my uncle did it and I got this pedal from my uncle and had used it while at his house so I know it works. one issue, I cant get it to work.
The tyros has an auto config for the MFC that sets each button to a midi note. once that is done then you just say way notes do what on the tyros (from inside the tyros) the FCB1010 however can not be auto configured. so you will need to configured each button to a note manually (from inside the FCB),. once you do that then it should work. there are several videos about configuring the FCB. as long as you can make the buttons = a midi notes it will work. but out of the box it will not work with the tyros
@@Thejohnnyoshow It still makes life a lot easier, so thanks! Also, does Tyros have 0-127 or 1-128? And I assume the Genos should have the same auto config option that Tyros does?
Hi, awesome tutorial, i want to use my mfc10 with my Boss gx-700 (guitar fx processor) and it works fine at changing banks (presets) if i push the switch 2 my Boss load the bank 2, etc... But I need to use it in "manual mode (turning on/off stompboxes in the same bank)" I've read that it's posible but I just can't make it work... The only thing I manage to assign is the expression pedal (Cc#007) I've assigned it all kind of effects without leaving the same bank, but I don't know how to assign any of the switches to act like an IA (on/off effect button) Could you please help me? Thanks a lot!

Hi! I have psr9000 and mfc10 foot controller, but when I do connection and pres next always i am getting message...Problem! Make sure the cables are connected and mfc10' power is on then press next.I did all parts setup but still getting same mesage. Please can you help me about this problem...thank you in advance.
The psr9000 is a bit different, In my instructions on the Tyros and in the video you will see where I set it to channel 16, you will want to set it to channel 1 for the psr9000, also make sure you have the midi OUT on the keyboard going to midi in on the MFC to set it up. In the manual it makes a point of mentioning having both cables connected, It looks like the PSR works very differently then the Tyros, in the fact that you send different templates to the MFC if you want it to do different things. On the Tyros It only needs to send the 1 template and the Tyros conforms to that template, But the manual for the PSR makes it seem to me as if it has to program the MFC if you want to change what it does by selecting a new template on the PSR and sending that to the MFC. So i would suggest making sure you have both cables connected for easy of use. 1 from midi in on the MFC to midi out on the PSR and 1 from midi out on the MFC to midi in on the PSR. So that you can do this easily when ever you want. I have never used a PSR, I have only owned in the pass a Yamaha W7, MO6 and now the Tyros 4. So the info i just gave you could be incorrect, but that's what i am taking away from what I just read in the PSR 9000 manual
great video, question, is there a way to program the controller to change the auto accompaniment on the Yamaha (i.e. I play sax and want to change chords with my foot, etc..) and have different sets of chord progressions available? i.e. 10 different songs with different chords, etc..does that make sense? any advise is greatly appreciated!
the MFC-10 is completely configurable with out using a Tyros, you can assign each of the buttons on it to do pretty much anything, you can even have a button trigger more then 1 event. All Parts will be selected press "8 DOWN" to edit. now go to the "Receive" tab (refer to page 128 in tyros manual) you will see the very first row is for MIDI A/USB 1/CH 1. and right now the PART is assigned to song, we want to change the part to one of these "LEFT" "RIGHT1" "RIGHT2" or "RIGHT3" (i would recommend using LEFT or RIGHT 3), now you can control the split point like normal going to "FUNCTION" and pressing "C" and going to the split point tab (page 38).
