I am happy you took your time explaining about the importance of bleed. I am always fighting with my designer about a lack of it in her designs. Bleed makes finishing so much easier and has an impact on the final visual appearance of the product!
I need to make a zine as an output for school and this video was very helpful. I did not know about the "creep". Thanks for this ❤ Also, I think the white edge looks nice.
💕 You and your videos are so insanely cute!!! I’ve been studying design for 2.5 years now and this is the absolute best description and demonstration to explain “creep” that I have ever seen/found. Thank you for all your effort and planning in producing these videos. 💕
thank you for making this! it was really helpful - especially the part about how to manage creep on a booklet. I took a bookmaking class but they never covered creep so it was helpful to hear you talk about that. Looking forward to part 2!
Thanks so much!! Wow, I really want to take a bookmaking class, too. Yeah!! Creep is peculiarity of booklets because of the folding action. I think when people DIY booklets with blank pages to make sketchbooks and journals, it's mostly a cosmetic issue that may or may not have its own charm. In my small print shop, I usually trim printed booklets, and the creep becomes a real issue when I notice words or details getting unduly cropped. It's pretty stressful haha!! T_T Thank you so much for watching!!!
your print shop looks so cool - if i'm ever in canada i'll definitely stop by to print! for now i'll have to keep supporting your videos from los angeles
I've done a work around to that creep problem, where instead of folding all 16 sheets in half in the same binding, I make four four page booklets, and staple them together. In this way it looks more even.
Hello! thank you so much for this video! It's very helpful. I was just wondering does this same method applies towards screw binding too, or I would have to have single sheets without folding them? I hope for your reply. Many thanks
I think the bleed just got in my nose. But I'm going to understand this, I have to. You're awesome! You know your stuff. I just hope I can explain this in Filipino to the kuya at the print shop. huhuhu!
Thank you for this very helpful video! I was wondering more about the final booklet sizes for print. The risograph I'm familiar with allows for max printing on 1/4'' margin, so I was wondering if the final full/half booklet sizes you listed could still be applied to different max surface sizes?
Hi! It really depends on the project! For example, it doesn't make sense to staple and fold a very thick book. On the other hand, gluing four sheets of pages together may be inefficient... BUT!!! I never say never so if it suits the project, I say, do whatever!!!
you can conceivably print any number of pages with the risograph but you'd be burning a lot of masters so you want to make the quantity of copies worth the while
For example, this comic book is maybe over a hundred pages too and it is sized at around 5x8, but i printed around 200 copies of it. th-cam.com/video/dEuC7pV720o/w-d-xo.html
There is a zine that you showed in this video named Paleoart. Please let me know if there is somewhere that I could buy this zine.

she is the teacher you need in design school
This is so amazing, this woman knows so much about risographs

Thanks for this video. It was really helpful.
Ahh thank you!!
What kind of paper cutter did you use to trim the zine?
Hello! thank you so much for this video! It's very helpful. I was just wondering does this same method applies towards screw binding too, or I would have to have single sheets without folding them? I hope for your reply. Many thanks
Sorry I dont have experience with screw binding!

Omg haha! Honestly anyone who works at a print shop should know it. It's more the artists that I am trying to inform hahaha
This is a very good video Olivia

I'm only familiar with my own riso so I suggest you use whatever specs your riso can accommodate.
@@kitetsustation Ah, I see! Thank you for you response. Again, your videos are very helpful :D
Perfect video.
Realy help.
Like for this video
Thanks!!
Looks cool! Cool reel ;)
Thanks for this video! But I have a question.. which is better, stapling in the middle of the booklet or gluing the end of the papers to bind it?

@@kitetsustation okay, thank you! I'll staple and fold since it's only about 7 sheets of papers🙂
Great video, thanks
You’re so great!!!
Which paper you have used to print these books ?
Any paper that is uncoated!
Beautiful...
like your video
So Olivia, if I have a 112 pages indesign document with a lot of illustrations, could u print it with a risograph?
you can conceivably print any number of pages with the risograph but you'd be burning a lot of masters so you want to make the quantity of copies worth the while

@@kitetsustation so, u need a new master for each page to burn ?
Olivia, plz help...I want to get into the printing process 🙃
And what about colour ? For example, when I illustrated and coloured the pages in ps, do I need to colour separate each page for the risobas well ?
HOLY COW NO THUMBS DOWN??? Ive never seen that before
Ikr!!
Nice
Niceee
Pls help me to purchase riso graph machine to print millions of pages.

Too many measurements to memorize 😭 but I can't stop watching
Omg lol!
What kind of paper did you use for the cover page ?
