My wife Sue and I did part of Sheepshead this past July with our hiking group, wilderness Ireland. It was a lot different then 😄. Our guide led us to the lighthouse and to the helicopter pad right next to it and told us the story of the lighthouse construction and maintenance with everything flown in by helicopter. It was very interesting. Can’t wait to show my wife this video. Thanks for another great one!
Hi Gary, I saw the helipad alright and like you say, the story of building it is interesting also. Will definitely have to go back down there and spend a bit more time. Thanks again. Ed
Thanks Andrew, wasn’t sure what to expect but it was awesome, already looking forward to going back down that neck of the woods in the summer, maybe sooner if the weather plays ball.
Great stuff Eddie ! I’m surprised you’ve not been down there before , it’s stunning in nearly all weathers and you got some great conditions for sure !! Lovely shots too and glad you took the extra few minutes to visit the “hidden” mini light house Did you spot the stone circle above it ?
Thanks Darren. Would you believe Dunquin is closer to me than the lighthouse by a few km’s, even further in time. I saw the circle alright, was that the heli pad? A repeat visit is definitely on the cards for the lighthouse area.
Hi Eddie, thanks for the video. While visiting West Cork in a tightly packed schedule, is it worth taking a detour to the Sheep's Head peninsula to take a 2hour hike around the lighthouse? The other option is to skip it and focus on the Mizen Head
Hi kv, that was my first time hiking down that neck of the woods so I couldn’t honestly make a recommendation either way if it’s worth the detour. Mizen is the most southerly point so it has that, I was there once 25 years ago but don’t remember much. Sorry I couldn’t be more help with that.
Super stuff Eddie - thank you and the lighthouse was a super bonus! 👏👏👏
thanks Tom, another place that I have been meaning to get back to, but just havent got around to it yet.. the Lighthouse is really nice alright 👍

Another beautiful place 😀😀😀☘☘☘☘
There’s just so much to see 😬👍🏻
What a cracking place Eddie. So nice to see places which are completely unspoilt. Thanks for taking us there. Tough with those winds.😊
