Watch for rocks. THUD! Yup. Saw it. Bet they had lots of fun building that road 100 or so years ago, and probably part of the reason to decommission this as Alternate US 89; it was the 'shortcut' to Flagstaff (Old US 89, to the west, is now AZ 89, south of I-40 or Old 66). Seeing it this way is better; one can appreciate the natural beauty without banging into a guard rail, falling into a ravine or nearly getting run over by an Audi. Must be the Leadfoot Tribe.
Mind-blowing scenery, I could just imagine how dark that road would be at night.
