My belt snapped on my Jeep Compass a few days ago (was still in my driveway luckily). I stumbled upon your video and it literally saved me a few hundred dollars in towing and labor. First time changing a belt ever and it worked like a charm. Thanks a million!
Great video, clear voice, and great explanation. The idea of using a drawing board it genius I’ll definitely be using that. New subscriber here keep it up!
Hi i just found your video on the 2011 compass and i have a 2012. I have some other things that need to be worked on but nobody seems to know where to find this part. Since you could deal with a compass that is identical to mine, I was thinking you may know the answer or at least be able to lead me to your resource that would have the answer. I'm getting a bad read on a fan motor relay and everybody keeps pointing me to the fuse box, but it's an actual big giant chunky relay and nobody can seem to figure out where it is and so only one of my fans is working and the other one doesn't. My thought was that the relay is on the back of each fan that I cannot find a resource to give me the correct answer. And since you actually have a compass that you work on all the time, I felt you were a good source to ask and hoping that you have the time to answer or or send me a link to the video that you've made that covers the information.lol. I guess I want to know how do I find more of your Jeep compass repair videos not just this one. Or do you guys have a family email that I can email you More questions? Thank you in advance for your hopefully coming response😊
Hey there, im a little late to the party but hey if you are still having the problem with the relay and cant find it, the relay box (fuse box if you will) is right behind the drivers side inner fender in a painful spot to get, I also own a 2012 compass, hope this helps
awesome dude...... thanks for the video I came from Dallas Tx to help my mother out during this covid 19... bought her the compass 2011 and either the tensioner or idler pulley is gone..... i'm going to just go ahead and replace both including belt.... thank you my Canadian amigo ... I hope you and your family find yourselves in good health.... keep up the awesome work!
How did you get it on so easily... my tensioner pulley is pinned, there is no more slack to get and i still can't get the belt on... 2016 jeep compass.
I had a 2008 Patriot. Avoid the Compass and Patriots at all costs. Unless you can get it for about 1/2 price. The newer Compass might be better (2018-ish and later, I think). Whenever they redesigned the suspension system. Edit: The 4WD system is very aggressive. That I did like. Just keep good tires on it.
@@phprofYT Is the rear suspension the worst of it? I do most of the work myself, suspension parts for the most part seem easy enough. If I buy from Rock Auto and do it myself it usually costs about 1/4 of what a garage would charge. Did you have any engine or transmission problems?
@@GeeZeeGZ The newer Compass has an updated suspension so maybe they are better. I bought mine new in 2008. Well, let's see if I remember it all. I live in upper Michigan so snow, salt and sand is 6 months of the year. Anyway, 3 calipers, both front tie rod ends, both front body bushings, both front upper control arms, both rear shocks, both front struts, right rear wheel bearing because the sensor rotted off, all rear control arms and one needed replaced when I traded it in. This was all after the 3/36 warranty wore off. I use a local shop but know I can do my own ball joints, control arms, and brakes. I could have saved a bunch but was a scared cat up until a couple years ago. The shop started putting in Moog parts whenever they could. Now I have a RAM Ecodiesel and I'm waiting on it to either fireball or get the EGR replaced under recall.
Honestly these units are only good for the winter. No good fuel economy. Not comfortable. As mentioned cheap parts. They rust. Now ours has been actually pretty good. It's on the original battery. I just did the transmission service as well. If you can snag it up for cheap I would say go for it but you might want to look elsewhere. These transmissions rarely last past 200,000 km from what kijiji ads I see.
@@GeeZeeGZ Engine was good. Change the spark plugs before 70k miles. My transmission didn't give any problems, however, the forums showed issues with overheating the CVT. If you get one of the newer ones they went to a standard automatic at some point. Not sure the year. The overheating might have been symptomatic of southern climates. Up here it is too cold too much of the year.

Yes…The never ending “ maintenance “ is astounding with it. Sub par engineering.

Thanks! You so much help me! 🤝
Happy to help!
What's the belt size
i wish the 6 speed had a dipstick like the cvt.Only downfall is there no space to replace the Bank 2 o2 sensor.
The ones with the dipstick is the 4 speed
Que número de polea lleva la Jeep Compass cual es la medida exacta
You dont have a 16mm?
I guess not! lol
Thank you!
No worries glad it helped
Man u left out the part of getting it on
5:42 just before that I show how to remove the belt with the 5/8 socket. It routes on the same way.
It was just tricky to record that crappy angle.
How does your wife like the Compass? Any problems with it?

Putting the belt on is a shit show. Almost gave up till sweat got on the belt and it slipped on. Even with the tensioner maxxed out...
Wicked spelling LOL serpEntine belt!
