@The Diffraction of LIGHT Making it more simpler, Rational horizon is a imaginary thin slice of earth and not a horizontal line, but when you see in a 2D view from side, it will appear as a horizontal line......read again and again , I hope you will get it ! 😂

Sorry sir in previous comments I told you about visible horizon but what I meant is sensible horizon so the waht is the difference between true altitude and that sensible horizon

Both have vast difference, true altitude of a celestial body is obtained after applying several corrections to the sextant altitude, however sensible horizon is small circle parallel to rational horizon.

It's very simple...cpa is the minimum range( distance) at which the vessel will pass you..and bow crossing point is range (distance) where the other ship will pass when she is right ahead of your vessel.

Angle a is parallax in alt and its included in total correction so for calculation purposes we directly take total correction value and never angle a. Can be found from Nories table
