this is epic story telling at its best! x
sadness = beauty
way too true. feels have been hit. freaking hard.
This is exquisite, a numinous specimen of beauty; absolutely gut-wrenching. John Fullbright oozes soul; you can hear the grit in his vocal cords, like he rose straight out of the clay. What a gift he is. If you think that's undue hyperbole, I guess we can just agree to disagree. Cannot wait to see him live.
And big, big thanks to Jam In The Van. Your sound engineer(s) is/are amazing. Please keep this good stuff coming.
Have you seen him yet? I've seen him twice and both times were over the top! One at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the other in sort of a "private" venue situation where it was super small (on purpose). I advise to see him when he's around you.
I agree whole-heartedly! I'm in love with Forgotten Flowers
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me.
@Calvin Tristen instablaster =)
@Keenan Malcolm I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
David Leach on bass now has his own group, HARUMPH. When he isn't traveling with John, He is playing in Norman at The Deli every Wednesday. Damn fine singer/songwriter too. Just ask John.
This song never fails to completely wreck me.
Every song I click on of this guy is better..this guy knows how to write and sing...
I really really like this song, I found the lyrics, worth to share!!
---------------
Susie was a pearl of a woman
And jack was a golden man
He told her he'd love her forever
He gave her a wedding band
There parents said they were just children
Love comes as fast as it leaves
They think that they've built a foundation
Till life knocks them down with a breeze
Chorus
Living comes natural to many
Love comes natural to few
You take the high road to freedom
I'll take the low road to you
Well Jack bought a brand new tractor
The bank bought him the land
Said The work may hard but it's honest
I'll pay em by May if I can
Sometimes they talk about children
The names and things they'll do
If its a girl they'll call her Joanne
Shell grow up to be just like you
Chorus
Jack was out plowing the south end
Trying to beat the next rain
Susie she watched through the window
As the downpour finally came
He was riding the side of the terrace
When the mud gave way to the wheel
The tractor tipped over on Jack
Cold was all he could feel
Well he told his little wife not to worry
Said The soft ground has broken my fall
He told her he'd love her forever
Then he didn't say nothin at all
Well Susie grew old and gray headed
Never did marry again
Jack took the high road to freedom
She took the low road to him
Thank you
This song is the most beautifull song I know. The feelings in the lyrics and in his voice is mezmerizing
Couldn’t finish reading. To many tears to see through.
Been following John for years.. If your find yourself blessed enough to seen him live DO NOT miss it. An artist in every sense of the word.
Just saw him open for Patty Griffin-what an incredible double bill!
+Dustin King I saw him at Cain's in Tulsa. Over the Top live performer. This dude is just on a different level.
Saw him at Cain's and the the Illinois River Jam. He didn't want to get sad at the river jam.....cool, but man he could've and had em all in the feels.
Holy shit this guy is good.
His writing has the imagination and deep thoughts of Bob Dylan; now he can sing a lot better than Bob. He just leaves it all on the stage. I'm jaw dropped.
I hope that girl I sat with on the plane to Dublin last February took my advice and looked him up.
few songs make me cry like a baby, aa a grown man. Its just too damn real.
Still one of the best performances on TH-cam. I really hope he gets back out there soon. Legend.
"You take the low road to freedom, I'll take the low road to you." This is the lyric of my wife and our first 10 years of marriage. Doing great now, but it strikes straight to my heart about that time in our lives. The music speaks for its self. There is nothing you could possibly say with just words. Beautiful.
man. his music gets more powerful every time i hear it.
Well, phew, help. I am not often a commenter but this is the best song I have heard for years. Even Fred Eaglesmith would be hard pressed to compete with this. Tears in my eyes. and being Scottish lost it with yon bonie banks at the end.
How does this incredibly powerful voice come out of him?
John Disque soul.
That Loch Lomond snippet at the end. I was doing alright until he pulled that out. Damn.
Red is the Rose, as well. I think the lyrics of the song are more reminiscent of Red is the Rose, but I would be really interested to know which inspired John.
Awesome song! Always pleasantly surprised by the quality of the audio you get outta that van
Excellent song and great performer. The Holy Spirit of Jackson Browne lies on him.
John Fullbright is the real deal. Thanks Jam In The Van.
So amazing, this version of High Road. John Fullbright is amazing to see live-if you haven't done and you're a fan, make it happen!
Seen him perform this in Perth , Scotland at the weekend. What an amazing piece of songwriting.
...still can't listen to this without tearing up...
One music article said he could be the next Arlo Guthrie!
I saw him in a friends basement for a house concert. What an amazing show and experience for such a small, intimate event! Thanks, Angela!!!
This song- this performance - It just kills me . Thank you, John.
John is an awesome performer........great singer/songwriter.......absolutely marvelous......also seen him live in Perth.........fantastic set he did
I found him completely by accident. I can’t get enough. His music is incredibly moving. Profoundly personal.....to me.
Jam in the Van, you've done it again! John Fullbright's the man, sounds better than anyone can. He's no flash in the pan, he's got a great plan. Thanks for sharing, Jam in the Van :D
My favorite singer/songwriter
Have been to several shows on this year's and last year's Cayamo cruises. The guy is a real talent and has a brilliant career ahead of him.
when I got back to canada I watched this. changed me
Good Lord, what a song, what a voice and what soul. Can't wait to hear the new album.
Probobly be playing festivals summer, 2014....................somewhere................
I've watched this a thousand times and just noticed it's an 8min video. Seems like any other 2-3min track
Fantastic - he's such a great songwriter and singer that it's easy to overlook what a great pianist he is.
just heartbreakingly beautiful!
7 people are waiting for the next Robin Thicke video
it's extremely unnerving knowing that there are 7 thumbs down on this
the way he punctuates this already-incredible song with the melody of "loch lomond" is chilling, beautiful and pretty much perfect. goddamn.
What a great fucking song!!
I agree with dustin king, seen him in tulsa with the devil makes three. two AMAZING artists i never imagined seeing together!
See you soon (take root)
My 3 month old daughter is completely captivated by this song
He is amazing.
How did this artist hide from me for so very long? I will see him live soon for sure.
God, this is a great song
At last a new voice and personality that has got it all! What a revelation!
this song wells me up every time

Phenomenal recording, it sounds amazing, nice work 👍
Wow.
John, you are the man. Amazing writer and musician. Total package. A rare breed nowadays. Keep it up brother
Parents - get your kids into music, motivate them to practice and they might change the world for the good
Fullbright's music and lyrics a Zen like; they always put me in the moment.
You are amazing John!!! Hope I get to see you someday soon. Peggy in Madison Wi
Love all of John's music! I've only seen him one time which was in Ventura, Ca. and I'll never forget it.
How many times can I like this song. Only once. But every time I hear it!
Just saw John this weekend, so moving he is.. oh no I sound like Yoda... The boy is good
John. Please come to Musikfest, Bethlehem, Pa
How could anyone dislike this song?
He missed some lyrics lol, but other than that this is pure gold
Cole James I'm sure the song has evolved over time. But the "tears mixed in blood" or something like that is genius. Wish he would've included it
Stunning. One of my fav songs on that album.
Amazing
SaintPauliBoy he's pretty good, but he's no Nathan elkins
00:21 --> Straight to song
