It's sad when there are beautiful voices and musicians like this that don't go through auto-tune and 300 mixer's but its over shadowed by some idiots doing dances from Fortenite. This is real music ladies and gents in case you didn't know.
@Otie Jason Much of the tone is in the fingers of the player. Marcus's actual guitar tone of a Tube Screamer through a cranked Super Reverb (which was his rig around this time period) + the tone straight from his fingers = his guitar tone. I don't know too many other younger guys in this generation doing it as well as he does and sounding as good as he does these days.
I wouldn't even know what mainstream is. I live in Chicago and I truly don't know if there even IS a rock station anymore here that plays anything newer than 2000.
It's a shame that they aren't a household name, but at the same time I kinda like it that way, though. I enjoy the reactions my friends give when I throw MKB on out of nowhere. The reactions are usually always "who the hell is this, and is all of his music this good?!" I get a kick out of it and they get introduced to new incredible music.
I have lost inspiration as a musician and listening to a young man of this caliber do the things he does give me chills down my spine and has refilled an amount of the inspiration that I need to get out an play live again than you Jam in The Van and Markus King for doing what you do!!!! its much appreciated....
Marcus is so damn talented, but in this performance his drummer is not only very tasteful and plays for the song, but he has such a deep pocket and groove.
I had never heard of this band before today and this is the only song I've heard or seen from Marcus King, and holy shit did it blow me away. I was not expecting that. Amazing guitar, vocals were insane, rest of the band was fantastic and I'm stoked to check out the rest of his music
I just heard of him and his band today. Instagram sensation Jefferson Fisher posted a photo with a song of Marcus' playing. I thought who is that??? Wow!
i was so impressed with this kid years ago and i am so glad that he has received the well deserved attention he truly deserves. i am such a fan Marcus. You are so far from your years it moves me in a way that I cant help but recognise that you are a special gift to all of us . Thank you so much for loving your passion the way you do.
A new take on old music! A mix of Country, Jazz and Blues making Marcus's music both poignant and refreshing. Thank god for talented musicians, may they reign forever!
Amazing !!! Marcus 🎸 incorporates riffs that he learned, and later perfected, from his days in school studying 'Music Theory' and 'Jazz Composition' - What starts out to be a classic rock-n-roll lead, ever so gradually turns into a really tasteful jazz lead with a nice 'punch' sprinkled in for good measure. The guy continues to impress us all with his artistry and his songwriting skills. The band has gone through a few changes but the core will always remain. Drummer 🥁 - Jack Ryan, Bass Player 🎼 - Stephen Campbell, Trumpeter/Trombonist 🎺 - Justin Johnson. ~
So refusing to listen to this distinctive guitar of Marcus. He owns his own sound. No one sounds like him, The way he plays is original and it sounds awesome. Incredible tone. Keep going Marcus !!!
Marcus is from Greenville SC.the kid did not fall far from the tree. his father Marvin awsome guitar player. Marcus just taken it to anorther level. GOOD ON HIM.
I saw Chris Stapleton and Marcus King at Madison Square Garden a couple weeks ago. Doesn’t get much better than that - except the Stones concert was pretty good too.
Saw these guys last weekend in Memphis TN had the VIP package with sound check and meet and greet!! All of them seem to be very humble and interacted with us during sound check!! Seemed very genuine during meet and greet didn’t have the “lets just get this over with” vibe took time for conversation!! And the show was utterly amazing!! Played for 2 1/2 hours left their all on the stage!!
I'm very proud of my friends for making it so far. It's surreal, and it may never feel real. The times reality sets in is when I want to call and I get a strange ring, only to realize that "Oh, my pal is in Germany." When you have to schedule calls with one of your oldest best friends based on their touring schedule and whether or not they're even in North America, you've officially reached the Twilight Zone.
How these other artists just sit there chillin', I just don't know. When he flicked to the bridge and the extra drive, I'm in my house punching my little fridge like Rocky on the meat. That's some serious style there man.
Been too long since I last saw you baby Standing high above your sky Sunlight shining through your golden hair And the moonlight was rising in your eyes Never claim I know what's bothering you Ain't a damn thing I could say or do Darlin', leave your side door open And I'll be there as the sunset turns to night Leave your side door open for me I may leave Lord, I may leave Leave your side door open, baby I may leave Lord, I may leave Holding on to you and that feeling May I let go, let go of my sorrow I'll be gone by the time you wake up baby And you're side man will be swinging coming round Found my heart back in Virginia And it's with me almost every night I'll be gone by the time you read my letter But I'll hold your love with me as I ride oh Leave your side door open for me I may leave Lord, I may leave Leave your side door open baby I may leave Lord, I may leave Leave your side door open I may leave Lord, I may leave Leave your side door open baby I may leave I may leave
I'm absolutely in love with this bands sound. Marcus lays down some saucy licks and his raspy voice is often replicated but rarely duplicated. Throw in a horn section and I'm hooked.
Oh that voice it’s Marcus King. That what I thought when I heard a song on the radio the other day. Sure enough it was him. Yes I am a MKB fan and I have been saying he has the most soulful voice of any young artist today. Great tune and MKB band performance Jamin in the van.
Not sure what the 7 people who disliked this are smoking.... saw MKB 2 weeks ago in Melbourne at a sold out gig in front of 500 people. An experience none of us will ever forget. Unbelievable!!!!
MKB gives me faith in new music 🙏🏻
He and Gary Clark Jr
Jaminthevan too.
@@Wildpony98 ...and Larkin Poe
Same! It brings joy to my heart 👌❤👌

This band just keeps aging like fine wine. Also Jam in the Van's audio engineers knock it out of the park every time. This sounds amazing.
straight facts!🤙🏼
John Howe timeless.
Jam In The Van engineers always have the cleanest mix. Sounds better than their studio masters honestly.
They know how to balance the instruments with each other. It's all in the ears.
Was just thinking this
Right? Shit. Sounds so good
Exactly like the Grand ole when he sing goodbye carolina !
If gahdamn was a record this is it
Marcus has this generation’s best guitar tone by far
@Otie Jason Much of the tone is in the fingers of the player. @@STSGuitar16 I noticed that straight away! Much love from New Orleans
@@mickeythompson24 Much love for my people down in the bayou

@Otie Jason thats more of an ear deficiency on your behalf unfortunately.
This band blew my socks off, thank god the blues isn't dead
Truus Muus blues never die brother
This is the best piece of music I've come across in 20 years
Better than anything mainstream by a longshot
I wouldn't even know what mainstream is. I live in Chicago and I truly don't know if there even IS a rock station anymore here that plays anything newer than 2000.

Steve Campbell giving another lesson in perfect bass lines.. damm .!!
The soul these kats are spreading is the real deal people.....take notice of a legendary band in the making !
One of the best musicians for me.

Good luck Dink. Never give up, never give in.
And then the mandates and lockdowns happened...it killed a lot of live venues in my town.
Mr King proving once and for all that not all men are created equal!!!
Marcus is so damn talented, but in this performance his drummer is not only very tasteful and plays for the song, but he has such a deep pocket and groove.
How can it be that Marcus isn't more successful than he is. If you're thumbing this down fella, I aint got much respect for your musical tastes.
I had never heard of this band before today and this is the only song I've heard or seen from Marcus King, and holy shit did it blow me away. I was not expecting that. Amazing guitar, vocals were insane, rest of the band was fantastic and I'm stoked to check out the rest of his music

It took 2 seconds to blow me away
First new thing I’ve been truly excited by ( musically speaking) for about 20 years,
incredible.
Great band! I can hardly understand how a singer who sings with that gritty type of voice can sound so GOOD! - Fantastic!
What a song!

May I let go, let go of my sorrow
I'll be gone by the time you wake up baby
And you're side man will be swinging coming round
Found my heart back in Virginia
And it's with me almost every night
I'll be gone by the time you read my letter

Amazing some of the best constructed solos since Derek and his mentor Warren this young man has it
Man, the recording quality of this vs the 2017 sessions with him is night and day. Sounds amazing.
DHGroove Was just thinking that. I came from there thinking, I knew I had heard another version before...
30 years ago these guys would’ve been huge! Should be now too
Damn good!
WHAT a solo! 😎❤
Zero hatters .....and how could there be ....the best band hands down !!!!!
I always know the talent level by the view count! Marcus never disappoints, he’s on a whole nother level to the typical JITV bands...
MKB had the best album of 2018. One of my favorites of all time
Same. I can’t stop listening to the LP! It’s unbelievably good in all respects!!
