Some big flathead here Dave, all over the state too! Biggest I’ve hooked into is 38 pounds but 50-60 pounders caught every weekend. Learned a lot from you. Appreciate your time and effort!

That was very nice of you! If I ever get a boat, might have to message you for some help on getting started with catfishin. I know, you don't have to be in a boat to catch fish. It's just around here, to get to some descent spots, you need a boat.

That was a super cool gesture to send her that stuff. That dial on the back of the bait runner reel adjusts the drag after you flip the lever.

Back in UK there used to be a rod called an up tider or uptider. It had the umpf of a surfcaster but in the length of a of a boat (ocean) rod- thick mutt to fine tip and could cast boat ounceage weights useful distances. I’m not sure if they are still made but if I really wanted one I’d make it. Could be a saleable thing.

I don't like using over a 5/0 hook for Channel Catfish if you release them. Larger hooks can catch them in the eye.
