Cool, this air con set up is exactly what I have planned for my caravan, I accidentally bought one thats way too big and takes up valuable space, but I got a good deal on it. The drawer sliders are a great idea.
Sometimes I wish I hung mine higher, but we don’t have to worry about worrisome supports this way and since it’s only a 6x12, it seems to cool the trailer fairly well. Texas get HOT though!
You can see my setup in the link above but I just wanted to say that I tried the portable A/C with the exhaust through the floor just as you described and it did not work well at all. There are various reasons cited all over the internet as to why that is, but the difference between one of those and a regular window unit is very considerable. In the heat of the summer the portable unit was maybe 2-3 degrees cooler than the exterior whereas the window A/C can bring the temps down 10-15 degrees.
I kind of considered it but I had a buddy with a portable and it didn’t render results like he wanted. The whole thing was an experiment honestly. It’s a small camper though so it gets cool fast. If I did it all over, I’d probably get a mini split installed. But they’re pricey. Some day though! We thought about solar too, but I need more research to do it myself. Thanks for the comment 😀
Thanks for the comment! I wish sometimes I had set the ac higher to handle the rising heat. But I wanted it on slides for easy stow n go. Maybe a second window unit? Lol!
I think it was 8 or 900. Kinda steep but we saved for a looooooooong time lol. Look up OVS batwing awning on Amazon. We’ll worth it though. I’ve endured many rain storms with no issues.
Enjoyed the tour of your conversion, good job! Here's a link to my video of 3 years ago with a similar A/C setup. th-cam.com/video/NfkDqKMSSLc/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgxNTMQVIva6ew9AK6J4AaABAg

I have had this as an idea! Thanks for the details.
It works great! I wish I’d have placed it just a little higher. But it still keeps us cool 😃
Neat idea. Great job. Well executed.
THANK YOU! nervous first build. WHAT AM I DOING lol
Looks awesome! Shhhh! Don’t spread the word on Lake Brownwood too much. That’s one of our favorites and never seems to be too busy!
It is awesome isn’t it?! Hidden jem!
I like the step tool box
@@Treckor2 THANK YOU! We use it all the time 👍
Hi I’m a new cargo conversion owner in Austin too!
Since of the best’ tester’ grounds around. We just returned from Fort Davis Mountains and this little camper did great!
Anyone in Central Texas that can do this AC for me? Thanks for the great video.
@@sandykquilts I got everything from Home Depot. Even the AC! Was a quick build and not hard to do if you take it on yourself 🤙
Did you consider a stand up portable ac with exhaust thru floor?
Just wondering how you thought this out
Thx for the good vid

How much was the batwing?

Wait till you kick that at night…..😂
Oooo hope not! lol our feet come nowhere near it. That whole area closes off as our bathroom and change area.
