That is such an awesome design of a weapon. I got to hold one the other day for the first time and it just feels awesome! Of course being a little out of my price range of $10,000 but I bet it's worth every penny! 😁
It's an amazing weapon. I was a 249 gunner in the army for about 5 years. Biggest downside was having to haul around a 27 pound weapon, spare barrel and all the ammo that came with it
This entire process confused me for years has I had no idea how they got the bullets into the barrel from the top of the feed ramp. It all makes sense now.
The PKM, and the great Mikhail Timofeevič Kalašnikov, set the example, the M249 Minimi, and identical in firing operation to the PKM, it changes the tape advance, borrowed from the MG 42...The FN, did not invent anything, it limited to copying the best on the market...
@@MessiaxMessiax I see what you mean. Took me a moment to grasp your comment. Overall the same mechanism has been copied and applied with small changes and possible advancements since the MG42.
@@ugandanknuckles3900 : A more effective recoil shock absorber has been added, with a double spring, a different adjustment of the gas intake compared to the PKM, as well as the belt advancement system, and that of the MG 42, much more efficient than that of the PKM. ...The quick change of the barrel is identical to that of the PKM... Let's say that it is a nice copy of the PKM, with the tape feed of the MG42...
@@MessiaxMessiax Yeah that whole tape advance thing was complicated, just say the belt feed. LOL I can see how the barrel change system is the same as I believe it's also used in many sniper rifles of varying degrees. It sounds like you've probably worked a light machine gun in your time living. I assume you're some rank of fire support or just an enthusiast?

insofar only belt feds with rimmed cartridges use pull out push through, everything other gun has push through feed

Not really. I’m in the caf and we use the c9 which is similar. Suprisingly these guns are extremely simple to take apart and rebuild
