    Your talents far exceed the DIY realm. You need to show of your artistic touches when it comes to aquascaping, habitats and lighting. The video keyed in on one of the most under utilized aspects of the aquarium trade... the lighting source. I am not sure I have seen anyone ever play with intensity, location and spectrum as I have seen with your designs. You nailed it!!!
    In watching this video I was amazed at how different an aquarium can look by changing the position, intensity, focal point and height of a light source. The multiple tanks towards the begining of the video each had a unique perspective unlike any I have seen before. It inspired me to jump up and start moving my lighting around which changed the dynamic of my tank instantly. Your DIY lesson for today was...be different then everybody else and change your perspective.
    With the combination of species driven tanks, themed aquascaping and enhanced lighting techniques your tanks are something to truly behold. I know "Amano" style tanks have their place in the industry but I prefer "Joey" style any day of the week.
    If you have the chance please put together a video with a compilation of your favorite tank designs showcasing your many talents. I for one would love to see a more in depth look at the tanks in the begining of this video.
    You have a truly amazing gift....keep on inspiring.

    To everyone in the comments complaining about lack of DIY, have you seen his countless vids on DIY, there's only so much you can DIY in the freshwater tank hobby and he's done hundreds. Just because he doesn't SHOW so much DIY lately (well guess who made all the tanks he's been showing us lately?) doesn't mean he isn't the 'King of DIY'. He's done it all and He's still a freshwater fish DIY expert. if ur looking for something specific, just look back at his older vids and most likely you'll find it :)

    Listen, i have a number of Ecotech products and love their products, but in no means are they cheap. AI lights are okay. but you can beat them with Chinese black box LED's you find on Amazon for 130$. they pump out 165w and i have one over a 40B with only SPS and they're thriving just as much as my 180 with G4 Pros. more customization with Ecotech lights however if you're looking for something that looks good and grows plants/corals. you can't really beat the Amazon LEDs.

    Cool lights a little expensive for my taste... My simple tanks don't need all the bells and whistles. I've enjoyed your videos but they seem to have become product spotlights and vehicles for product placement and sponsor shout outs. Once you have all the tanks filled and setup will you be getting back to more in depth educational videos and DIY builds? For example... This video could have been about setting a light for the proper spectrum of lighting and brightness for different size tanks and plant types or how to use a programmable light such as this for proper balance on an aquarium. Not hating on you, I still love your videos and will continue to watch but thought I would ask.

    Sorry, but this light is still way overpriced for canadians at $199 USD. Kessil has the A80 15 watt out for $175.. I think most people will agree with me that the listed price is a joke and should be 25-50% cheaper. Ill definitely be the person who waits until retailers cant selll these for the MSRP and get it 40% off.

      Agree 100% I'm looking for a light system for my 75 gallon. This system will cost me well over $600 Canadian just to have two lights, mounting system and shipping. It is a great system, but I could get an Orbit system for half that price.

    Hmm... yea I don't know about this. 199$ seems steep for such a small light. Maybe you couldn't build something with all of its features for the same price, but you absolutely could build something for a specific tank that would out perform that light for a fraction of the price.

  • @jimzielinski946

    I took a quick look at both web sites. The lunar mode is facinating. What I didn't see was a seasonal mode. Maybe I missed it. If I didn't miss it, do you think you could use your influence to get them to add a seasonal mode. This mode should be adjustable for length of day and night cycles as they lengthen or shorten over a year and be adjustable for latitude (equatorial through polar; go all the way!). This type of lighting control would be fantastic for flowering plants that are seasonal and possibly help with coral spawning that though tied to lunar cycles is also seasonal. I'd also like to see an adjustment for the length of the year. This might allow for plant or animal seasonal activity to be accelerated assuming their kept in a basement or any area where they are not exposed to outdoor lighting. Simply using manual mode is way too much work if you would like to see the effects of subtle seasonal changes.
    Your the king of DIY. You can make it happen!

    I think so many products in this hobby are way over priced. LED's are not expensive to make yet these fixtures are $200 for some plastic and some tech that lets you control them WiFi. I would rather spend $60 on a light and just turn it on and off by hand. This goes with a bunch of other products for the hobby. Just way way over priced for materials and functions.

    • @OperationDx1
      @OperationDx1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A lot of us in it for the DIY aspect buddy. This video is amazing and appeals to the ones that like high end stuff. By the way the algea in the tropius tank looks fantastic. And I was wondering how you deal with algea building up on powerheads.

    What is the difference between the saltwater and freshwater versions? I have Radion Gen 4s (XR15 Pro) on my saltwater tank but if I change it to a freshwater tank there is no way I am buying more lights. I will use the ones I have!!!

      Peter Davies I'm pretty sure salt eater lights have a higher Kelvin rating bit I could be wrong!

    • @peterbdavies
      @peterbdavies 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I thought but wasn't sure, not owning fresh water ones. Does that not mean I could adjust the saltwater lights accordingly?

      I believe the saltwater ones have more blue and violet leds, the freshwater ones probably have more white red and green to get more daylight colors

      @peterbdavies 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My saltwater Radions have 8 led colours. UV, violet, royal blue, blue, cool white, warm white, green and hyper red.

    It's AMAZING!! They can be controlled by an APP on your cell is so convenient. It may be priced above my budget, but it would be a device worth saving money towards investing in it (or them for additional units). Well Done! Thanks for sharing, Joey.

    The lights are incredible no doubt. How are these considered affordable? Even for a smaller 30-50 gallon tank you would need 2 lights... $400 isnt cheap but maybe thats me.

    Blah I was hoping you was gonna show a strip LED these are sweet but still way to expensive compared to just getting two 36” fluval plant 2.0’s $300 and you can completely cover a 6’ tank 😭

    I know some of your tanks are from Galway across the world but it would be cool if the tanks were on when it was day time in that one place the tank is supposed to be from and turns off when at that place the sun goes down

    what if you had a light that was based on the Moon cycle. so at Night, it would illuminate to imitate the moon. from full to new. I can only imagine that it would just bring some change that they would notice. perhaps, help with breeding or acclimating.

    • @xxareswarxx620
      @xxareswarxx620 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phish N' Chimps that sounds cool. I don't know much about fish and if the notice moon cycles and stuff like that. But it be intresting if it will make them act different.

    • @thekingofdiy

      +Phish N' Chimps it has a lunar mode

    • @BoatsNPotatoes
      @BoatsNPotatoes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joey is correct, as usual, that the AI Primes have a lunar mode. However, it's more than just a nightlight. The AI Prime adjusts the nightly light output based on the current lunar phase.

    Dang. My lights budget is like $30 or less right now. Any advice? I want to grow live plants too with them. I live in Canada, so no shipping access to most of US amazon in terms of lights... at least not cheap shipping.
