If you can watch past the slightly boring Cape Reinga part, the second half gets better. You will see my failed attempt at sand boarding on Te Paki's giant sand dunes. This is an area that has 7km of giant dunes. Board hire is usually around $10 and it pays to get there before 5pm, otherwise you will be like me and have to improvise.
Next video update is from Kaeo where we look at my van and then Tane Mahuta.

So beautiful cape reinga .I went there back in 2004 with my dad and my two brothers and we stay over Night ninety mile beach .haha u going down sand dune classical
Such Beauty!!! I noticed Vancouver on the sign which is about5 hours from where i live. So yeah attempting to board the dunes is tricky, even a metal board I tried was rather miserable.. but running down the dunes was fun until the small cactus flowers near the bottom attacked me.. but yeah Oregon coast also has great sand dunes!!! Most people ride them in motorized vehicles :)
I cringed at the thought of the hidden cactus attacking you! 😱 There was a buried forest which I regret not filming but the wind that day was unbearable!! I have since bought a microphone to block wind noise. I really want to visit Oregon! 2021/2022 🤞🤞🤞

Thank you so much for putting the name of the cape on the screen and showing us on the map. I had found the cape and the 90 mile beach on Google maps when you said you were going there but not everyone wants to do the little bit of research. I love maps so for me it is a challenge.

I've never been there and probably won't make it in the future what with the problems of flying with the Covid menace. I had never realized there was so much to see on the North Island. Usually we just see the spectacular landscapes on the South Island. What an amazing country.

CNN news has a great article today on the Whanganui River, which is the only river that is legally a person. I followed it on Google Maps all the way to its source.
Wow is that true!!? It wouldn’t surprise me actually, there’s some crazy things that go through here in NZ. Some as stupid as adding the letter “h” to the word “Whanganui” when it used to be “Wanganui”, costing millions of dollars of tax payers money. The argument being that the correct spelling required the “h” in there. Mind blowing stupidity when there is child poverty due to poor parenting in the lower socio economic homes that could do with the money more than a few signs around the country that need to be remade 😳.

Was that south of Lima, down in Ica / Huacachina!? South America is my next stop, Tierra Del Fuego to Alaska.
