Glad complex did this, a lot of people don’t realize all the stuff that is popular today really stems from Chicago. Jordan’s? Chicago. Yeezys? Chicago. Off-whites? Chicago.
Im from Toronto I went to chicago 2 weeks ago. Amazing city man so much history. Wish I went to a cubs game at least. Not a lot of cities got that its such a big city but got a little town feeling. Idk how to describe it but I loved it fr. Definitely gotta go back there
Everybody from Chicago always wants to take pride in Michael Jordan playing for the Bulls but he’s from here in Wilmington, North Carolina. His mom was born in Rocky Point, North Carolina which is the neighboring town to Wilmington. Wilmington and Rocky Point touch. His dad was born in Wallace, North Carolina which is an hour and a half away from Wilmington, North Carolina. Michael Jordan’s a North Carolina fan. UNC everything. He even said that it doesn’t matter what sport or anything he is UNC everything. Michael Jordan’s family moved from Wilmington, North Carolina up to New York for a couple of years before he was born and then moved back to Wilmington, North Carolina when Michael was only a few months old. He’s not a Chicago fan for anything and he’s not yours. You can take pride in your teams but Michael Jordan’s not yours to brag about. He still comes and watches us play high school sports, not just basketball, but all sports. I’m from Wilmington, North Carolina and I was born and raised here. I love this town and so does Michael Jordan. His mom has a house here at the beach.
It's one thing to sell a ton of kicks, it's history when you create an invaluable industry, culture, and design ethos. We really owe them a tremendous amount of gratitude. Good work Complex
I’m 44 but every 5 years or so I try and buy a pair of 3, 4, 5 and/or 11s. Those have always been the my favorites and brings back a sense of nostalgia.
Same here, I. 42 and I'm no sneaker head but I try to spoil myself every couple years. Usually the ones or threes. Man, back in 96/97 I had a pair of low top Chicago 2s I loved them.
I was born in 81, and i still love late 80's and 90's style. From Jordan's to Stussy, to Wu-Tang, to NIN. I'll always love the style and culture, and time period!!!
Proud to be at Chicago now, this great city open his arms for me and my wife and my mother before me more than 20 years ago and treated me like a native son, now my daughters are being born and raised in CHICAGO, couldn't be happier!!!
Yo I feel the same kinda way. Born in 1984, watching all those championships, and seeing greatness before your eyes. I was in awe. Being 35 I still am rocking my Jay's. I'll never stop repping Chicago. I'm happy to always say "I'm from Chicago" Michael Jordan means everything to me. I'll never stop repping and rocking my Jordan's. Michael Jordan literally changed the game in every aspect of life. Nike wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for Michael Jordan, and Chicago.
Hey #Ohana glad to see you here watching this vid! Lol I wish there was a way to cause I wanted to tag you in this and saw your comment scrolling down!
If you weren't murdered, then a lot of your friends/family more than likely would've been. Chicago isn't the place you want to live, but we welcome you to come and visit anytime. 💉
They’re not rare, they are the cheapest OG colorways around. That’s probably why Jordan Brand don’t show the AJ II the love and recognition it deserves. I definitely want both pairs of the OGs though.
Darnay Blue lol, what? Jordan 2’s rarely ever release first off, and secondly the OG Air Jordan 2 were made in Italy like designer sneakers(which is the first time and only time a pair of Air Jordan’s were made anywhere other than Taiwan or China). So the Air Jordan 2’s are anything but cheap also considering how exclusive and limited they’ve been whenever they’re released. If anything these are the highest quality Air Jordan’s of all time. So your opinion is VERY wrong
@@cactusjack2264 well if you check GOAT the AJ 2 is selling for like $190 in size 10 while 1, 4, 11’s are all at $400+ i like the jordan 2 but it is definitely cheaper than the other jordan’s
@@fernandoavilacastro4075lol you sound like you know NOTHING about sneakers, you’re comparing the most popular Jordans to arguably the LEAST popular Air Jordan model that no one really likes. Of course those would be priced higher (in resale value) because they’re more popular. Furthermore I was referring to the Air Jordan 2’s quality not being cheap, never said anything about pricing, and on top of that you’re looking at resale prices on GOAT to make this statement? lol 🤦♂️
Great story, inspiring and im a small town guy from Oregon. We do have nike headquarters here, but its far away. I'm not big in sneaker culture by any means some days I rock aj1s other days cowboy boots. There is a great blending of style here
Great documentary. Love how they focused on how each Jordan or Yeezy shoe has a story. One of the reasons why I got into the Jordans. Each shoe has a unique story. Lovin' the 312's. First time I've actually seen them. Also love how they emphasis that in Chicago we work together for a common cause, not against each other and try to cut each other's head's off. Chicago stand up!!!
I dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me!

The initial culture reached farther than Chicago. I'm included from the legions that followed from North Carolina! I'm from Cherokee North Carolina. Enrolled. My Uncle was the first Native American professor in Chapel Hill. When he came home, all he talked about was "this kid" that the Heels had was the best thing he'd ever seen! I was 7 years old in 1982. On the rez here, we had 21 channels of TV, one showed all the ACC games. For some weird reason, we also had WGN! Watching straight from Chapel Hill to Chicago!
Definitely my favorite Jordan but I feel that the mids sometimes don’t have the best color ways but I definitely would put the 3’s and 4’s up there too as the best jordan
Michael Jordan is forever be the GOAT The Real OGs knows that thing. Everybody loves the sneaker and the Art Of Fade Away. But No One Can Do It The Way MJ Does. 🔥
Avery Weber MJ my favorite player but rings nor stats say so. Bill Russell has the rings, excluding Phil Jackson who won most of his rings as a coach. Furthermore, Wilt Chamberlain is on the stat board more than any other player in NBA history. MJ definitely changed the game and influenced the modern game on and off the court, but let’s not act like other people can’t have opinions.
