It's funny, the purpose of a chess engine is to evaluate how good a position is, but for humans, sometimes a better position is worse. The reason is the computer has no idea how easy or hard the multi-move ideas are to find. They're all equal for a computer. If two players have the same mindset, they both ignore the same lines when evaluating, carving a weird 'desire path' in the analysis. Makes the whole thing a lot more fun.
I was watching the game live and after RxD4 chat was SCREAMING for like 5-10 minutes straight "He sacrifices THE ROOOOOOOOOOOK " that was very nice to see

And Magnus Ian was very fighting till game 6 after which there was one decisive game after another. Magnus Karjakin had 2 decisive games with an epic comeback from Magnus. And every game Magnus seemed to be ramming Karjakin's fortress until he broke through. World Championship never has quick draws. Just a weird thing to say.

NGL, this is way more exciting than Magnus' last few defenses. Magnus is so solid and happy to squeeze rock that you end up with a ton of draws. Magnus would have taken game 2 and coasted his way through the rest of the match, and rightfully so. Ian doing Ian things and Ding introducing novelties and unique ideas means that every single match could be a banger.

Usually we arrive at that structure/position because white captures the knight first, and only after the recapture does black develop the queen in her "natural" position of the Taimanov/Kan openings

I think more impressive than Nepo’s “two-minute blunder”, was Ding’s 1:14min rook sacrifice find. He had 30mins to find the best move but he found that almost immediately and didn’t hesitate.
Seeing Nepo play all these moves in 2 minutes and then losing, reminded me of Carlsen line on Nepo "He's getting back to his true self in his last few moves - playing poor moves quickly"
I'm following this tournament live and this is my first ever chess championship and it's sooo hype. The commentators are amazing and then levy's breakdown and highlights are godlike too. What an amazing month of entertainment!

Ding Liren is an amazing player and he deserved to win. But he's so shy and nervous in interviews. If you looked on live he was sweating more in the interview than in the game.
