This is the Caribbean Sea region. Situated in this region is an island. On this island, a border is drawn... dividing it into two countries. But this line doesn't just divide two nations. It also divides two worlds. Look at this chart. This is the GDP per capita over the years for Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The other two figures represent the estimated average life expectancy of the two countries. For comparison, Vietnam has an estimated average life expectancy in the middle range globally. This difference isn't just the story of two neighboring countries. It's the story of how on one island, there are two completely contrasting worlds.
