sc1 sound design in general is amazing. It's on the same tier as wc3 where you can tell whats happening if you dont see it
The sc1 zealot has a higher speed when leg enhancements are researched.
I like the sc1 zelot better anyway. The charge mechanic is kind of anti micro

@@Amoeby Nah, listen to the sc1/2 unit voice comparisons yourself, or just go play a game of each. It's impossible for sc2 unit weight to match sc1, the pace is so much faster alone. I love sc2 as well, but the audio doesn't have the same impact.
The voice direction, oddly, was kind of flipped from sc1... Sc1 had a less serious atmosphere overall, but the units sounded fairly serious and "cool" (for default lines). Sc2 had a very serious, epic space opera atmosphere all around, but unit dialogue was much less "cool" and more humorous. That really makes a major impact on the vibe.
Individual unit sounds and effects are lower in the mix by default, they lack environmental sounds like the radio static or blips from sc1 that placed units more intimately into their environments. They played safer away from the southerner stereotype and made everyone more generic.
Now nostalgia is trying to compete with having Mr. Burns as the science vessel vs the Raven. You can't win that.
SC1 inside of SC2 is all we ever really wanted for SC2.

Awesome to see justice for valkyries. In StarCraft 1, Valkyries were supposed to shine in big battles, but they had a bug where they would instead do little to no DMG due to Sprite limits
They've been patched in Remastered, so their intended use against mass Mutalisks does make them shine (2 Valks is enough to deter a full Muta ball).
It was fixed
With the Valk fix in SC remastered they're also the ultimate anti air unit for any big air battles in the Fastest maps so yes the sprite limit really did hold them back for the longest time. Valks being good now also means any mass wraith strats in TvT (that used to be popular for a while) are dead now

Really refreshing to see different games on the main channel Grubby. The WC3 videos start to blend together when you watch them day after day. (No complaints, your content is amazing), but even having this little change keeps things nice and watchable. I would love to see you play more Brood War with Zerg or Terran, (simply because the graphics were so satisfying.)
By the way, have you ever played Dawn of War 2? I really think you'd enjoy Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. It's a really challenging game that gets harder (too hard for me, to be honest), even on the campaign mode against the A.I. The A.I. gets two bases by default on some maps, so you're basically 1v2'ing. I'd love to see how you pilot it as the battles are soooooooooo satisfying in Dawn of War.

battlecruisers are the one unit that is uncontestably better in sc2. for these reasons:
1- warp
2- can attack while moving
that elevates it from a meme unit to a serious game-ending threat.
Yamato Gun did 260 damage. From a longer range.

Yamato Gun also costs a boatload of energy. SC2 BCs have a shorter Yamato cooldown than SC1 BCs can recover enough energy.
I think in this case we saw one reason why BW BCs aren’t strictly worse; their slower shots are much less affected by, for example, the Thor’s armor.
Subjective really, they have higher rate of fire but their damage is lower and also penalized by armor more, while BW BC's only fire one slow shots but isn't heavily mitigated by armor upgrades. So its only advantage is mobility with Tac Jumps.
Oh and SC2 Missile Turrets are better since they also get Hi-Sec Auto Tracking (range increased for defensive structures).
@@chrisdaignault9845 thor only has one armor. Hardly an issue for a bc's 9 damage ground attack. Its their air to air attack that struggles a little with armor, cuz it only has 6 base damage.
Sc2 bcs have higher air to ground dps than bw bcs on anything other than ultralisks.
Old yamato did 360 damage instead of 260 but that hardly makes up for how much worse it is at everything else. Bw battlecruisers can barely beat a scout 1vs1. I think 3 scouts beat 2 bcs without yamato, and bcs are unable to disengage.
Bw bcs are memes. They dont counter anything and get countered by half the units in the game. You are all severly underestimating the utility of firering while moving, as well as thr global warp powers of the sc2 bc. These two units arent even in the same league. Its like F tier vs A tier.
What I’m getting out of this BW vs SC2 is that BW has some very powerful options, but SC2 has more total options. BW variants can have quite a bit of trouble dealing with early SC2 units they are not accustomed with like Roaches, Reapers and Blink Stalkers, but their casters have deadly strong spells, some benefiting immensely from SC2 engine casting like Spawn Broodlings

Very cool. Always interesting to see masters at their craft play other games that are similar to the game they main. I think playing other games help with the creativity and innovations with the main game they are best at. It's like playing multiple sports. Each learning experience from each sport can help in the sport that the person mains. The sounds of the game are neat. From the SCVs to the marines and the research complete

I like that in SC1 they had the insight of making the mines not able to target workers.
they also don't target other vultures and archons due to them also being tagged as "hover" units
This is better balanced and more deep than regular SC2, arguably better than BW...
They just need to make the BW/SC2 selection hidden from your enemy and then it's the most balanced RTS ever... where SC2 versions of races are generally less played but the threat of people using the SC2 higher tech playstyle can always be added to a "best of *" to switch things up. It also just so happens that the least powerful SC1 race of Zerg has the best SC2 tech switch-up, and Protoss conversely has the least effective tech switch-up, with Terran being middle of the road.
Kind of reminds me of C&C: Zero Hour races with tech options which were super sick.
Actually the thumbnail should be vultures vs hellions, arclite vs crucio tanks and goliath vs viking (on land), well great games dude 😁.

I'd love to see something come out of this event-wise in the West. BW units are fun. It's also pretty funny how the SC2 basically had all the Scans in the world to deal with Wraith and Mines.
SC2 terran seems to love cloaked banshee rushing SC1 Terran.

So fun to see how broken some BW units are in modern SC2 environment and vica versa, how OP teleporting BCs that attack while moving can be for a BW toss, reavers etc.
Also BW mech terran is just OP as F :D

I would love to learn more about the meta around this mod. I LOVE BW but I don’t see how its factions could compete with the SC2 units. I’d love to be wrong though.
Honestly on the SC1 side Vultures still seem cracked and way stronger/versatile than Hellions/Hellbats, and Science Vessels vs. Ravens is a very interesting comparison with how different their utility is, but for the most part there are a lot of handicaps for SC1 terran like depots not burrowing, needing CC addons, no reactors, dropship being strictly worse than medivac, etc.
Need Ghosts to lockdown the Thors and valkeryies to absolutely destroy air (10 valk would have absolutely destroyed all his vikings and allow your BC to go to town)

Dragoons better than stalkers? Not even close. Stalker is probably the best unit in any RTS ever. But I generally prefer BW units.
This mod will kill all attempts at developing a new RTS. It will just die. SC2 with SC1 is just too strong. I hope they can make a ladder with all 6 races. That would just be totally bonkers.
BW is just the better game than SC2 in nearly all aspects. Better art style, better sound design, better music, better campaign and story, better UMS maps, more entertaining as a spectator sport. I still play and watch it to this day, but I have lost all interest in SC2.
Not 36 possible match-ups, if my math is correct, 15. (Because Terran BW player A vs Terran BW player B would have to be different from Terran BW player B vs Terran BW player A for it to be 36 possible combinations, but both are Terran BW mirror-matches.)
T1vX -> 6 matchups
Z1vX -> 5 matchups (we exclude the races the first player had above)
P1vX -> 4 matchups (final matchups with at least one BW player, so 15 if we have at least 1 BW player)
T2vX -> 3 matchups
Z2VX -> 2 matchups
P2VX -> 1 matchup (final matchup, 6 matchups that only include SC2 races)
So in total you have 15 matchups with at least 1 BW race and 21 matchups in total

Including mirror matches, that would be 36 possible combinations.
For anyone looking at how many matchups, look at the choose function. 6 choose 2 is 15. This does NOT include mirror matchups, so we add those in, giving 15+6= 21 match ups.
Result is: 6+5+4+3+2+1
The first has 6 possible match-up (the same race same edition included) next race/edit. Combo has 1 less, because we counted already the first possible match-up for the last one. The next has 4 and so on.

it's not very accurate. sc1 scvs don't even deliver 8 minerals. theres a ton of other inaccuracies too, like the siege tanks having only the same AOE as the sc2 tanks, the supply depot being the incorrect size, goliath range being too low even with the upgrade
They are constantly balancing it around
The goal is not to be a 100% recreation but to actually make both games races balanced while keeping their identity and playstyle options
The fact that someone would voluntarily pick Brood War terran over SC2 terran is comedy in itself.
Goliaths and vultures are just way too good, however pretty much everything else is laughably inferior like banshees being infinitely better at harrasing worker lines and defending marines vs wraith tickle damage
Hell bw terran air is completely nullified by vikings range and speed
You know, it'd be pretty easy for blizzard to turn this into an actual expansion with some sort of time travel theme. All they'd need to do is balance all the races which shouldn't be too difficult nowadays. Just take thousands of AI bots and play them against each other until you reach equilibrium.
You'd need to ascertain that the AI bots are as "skilled" as each other to balance it like that, and that's not a very easy task.
Why were you able to float your building? thats not SC1
My guy, he's playing BW Terran where the E-Bay can be lifted unlike SC2's.
