The genius of this pedal is that you made it affordable. Everyone loves your pedals but no one can afford them. Now there is at least one accessible pedal from you guys that is very usable.

some of their stuff goes used for around 100$ which i would call relatively affordable

@@heythatsprettynoice65 I agree, I would just check Reverb for used deals. There isn't much difference between 99 dollars and 115-130 dollars, as long as you're okay with used stuff. I just got a Hoof for 110, a Talons for 85 and a Dispatch Master for 100.

It won't get rid of the compression, but watching at 720 will make the audio sound a lot more clear and dynamic.

TH-cam compression isn't the same as Audio compression in a studio or from a pedal. TH-cam compression "compresses" the amount of data required to store a signal. This type of compression isn't audible, and It's not the same as studio compression or pedal compression which you can actually hear as a steady volume level.

This pedal has solved my hate/love relationship with ts-like pedal. I love the mid hump but hate the lack of high frequencies. I was about to give up and then I read of this pedal. Affordable price, last chance. Well, WOW. Thank you guys. You created a f****** monster. Another keeper after the beloved Ghost Echo.

This pedal is two things for me...a tube screamer for people who don’t like tube screamers (as is mentioned here) and an ocd for people who don’t like the ocd. I fall into that second category. I’ve always liked the *concept* of the ocd but I’ve just never gotten along with it. They go from “not quite enough gain” to “too much gain” almost immediately and I’ve always had a problem getting the midrange I like. This pedal (specifically in sym LED mode) has a very similar vibe to the ocd but allows for a lot more nuance, control and midrange character. Really...it’s almost a perfect crash landing between the the ts and the ocd. That and it pairs beautifully with my palisades and prince/king of tone drives...

Hey guys, I live about 15 min. from your headquarters, and I was able to attend the EarthQuaker fest over the summer. While there, I managed to snag one of these in the orange and blue color scheme, and I can safely say that it has earned its spot on my pedalboard, and has quickly become my favorite drive for its dynamic breadth of tones. Please never stop, and continue letting the world know what Akron has to offer!

Mine came in the mail today. It’s the best tubescreamer pedal for the money. As a tubescreamer fan and owner of multiple tubescreamers including the Nu tube model, I can’t recommend the Plumes enough. All three modes are full of tone and usable by anyone in any setting.

I wish Cory played on every TH-cam pedal demonstration. Excellent style.

You know why? It's noisy as hell, and is very effective and sensitive to an extreme. It's an old school design that most can't handle. They were discontinuing due to running out of the black glass components.Buy more soon.
I use a Naga Viper now, which isn't quite as biting, but does have a full boost range,- and is dead quiet. But you're right,- it's a great pedal.

I´ve never been a fan of TS pedals but then again, this is totally somehting else. I like to play heavy riffs and like my distpedals punchy and gainy.
Plumes is just..so organic, lot´s of headroom and still nicely crunch and bite. I´d say it´s a mid gain rocking pedal with high end sound quality. I so love this pedal.

This pedal is fantastic, it has become by go to tube screamer. Mode 3 is where you want to be for your traditional TS sound, mode 2 is like a vintage crunch and mode 1 is like a more open not compressed TS sound IMO. And the price is great, they really struck gold with this thing. Also, if you are a Fuzz guy, put this after your fuzz and it will tighten it up and shape your tone. Klon OD for clean boost, Fuzz then Plumes and you will really get some pro tones.

Harmonics are generated from a combination of factors, including those outside any pedal circuit. That being said, the level of clarity and presence added by using Plumes is tough to beat. I love the sounds I'm getting but it's easily 4 times as loud as any overdrive or distortion pedal I've ever had. I have to keep the level nob barely on....

It’s definitely got a lot of gain!

  • @AndyKunkel

Is this similar to my Boss Blues Driver?

    • @EarthQuakerDevices
      @EarthQuakerDevices  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

You can dial in some similar sounds, but Plumes is extended in the gain realm and more emphasis on the midrange. Plumes is also true bypass and you can bury the tone control and still sound great. The three modes of Plumes also give it a unique versatility. Those are probably the main differences.

I have TWO more questions if you don't mind. (They might need the same answer idk haha)
1: Do you think I should switch my pedal order? My Order:
A: Ernie Ball VP Jr (tuner in bypass output)
      B: MXR Super Comp
      C: Dunlop WAH
      D: Boss Blues Driver
      E: MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe
      F: MXR Reverb
      G: Boss Loop RC-1
2: If you think I need another pedal, which one of yours would you recommend?
(artists I like if this helps; Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Gary Clark Jr, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, also TH-cam Musicians like Sean Angus Watson and Paul Davids, and I like to dabble in some ambient)
SORRY FOR THE LONG COMMENT haha

    • @EarthQuakerDevices
      @EarthQuakerDevices  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Your order seems fine. Classic. Seems like you can nail everything in your tastes with what you have already. If you want more heavy fuzz or weird modulation, we can help.

The examples in this video are VERY dark sounding. Maybe it’s TH-cam compression...? Does the PLUMES a disservice I think.... just my opinion. Maybe should’ve used more than Fender style guitars....? Not blaming fender guitars for being dark, just thought there might be more of a well rounded demo with maybe a couple Gibsons. Keep rocking! - B

Sounds as though there is too much bass making the amp flabby. Not good for a band context. I like the new take on the circuit though - let's see what other demos bring us.

They should put a tube screamer in front of it to make it less muddy. Always heard good things of this pedal, I might get one soon. But parts of this video definitely sound muddy. Focal speakers user.

I love this pedal on a lot of other videos I've seen, but it sounds rough in this one. It's so muffled and muddy sounding, like the tone is turned all the way down. Very dark, and not in a good way.

2:40 minutes: "the Plumes runs at plus or minus 9 volts internally." Not only is that not a thing, but why would it increase headroom? Something's odd about that statement. It's like he looked at the polarity symbol and created a feature. Pedal is still cool, however.
