    Mist the most important step ! .............disconnect the spark plug ! Unless you like risking your fingers and hands

    Great video man. Do you replace these every year? Do you ever just pay somewhere to have them sharpened? Home depot sells these for $38 so not too bad, but could probably save some money just hving them sharpened, not sure...Trying to plan what I'm gonna do

    • @alexyhuerta10
      @alexyhuerta10  ปีที่แล้ว

      This was the first time replacing them. It's my parent's mower and I think we've had this mower for around 2 years now. I decided to just replace them because the blades had been abused quite a lot and had some chips in the blade's edge. I'm pretty sure sharpening them frequently would be cheaper, especially if you do it yourself. I didn't want to buy a sharpening kit and blade balancer yet, so I decided to just replace them. But now that it has a new pair of blades I might buy a sharpening kit and keep them sharp from here on out, and replace them when they get too rough or bent.

    Take the blades off, sharpen them with a file, clean them up and put them back on. The blade should probably last the life of the mower.

      Yeah, they were around 2 years old and pretty beat up. Next time I will buy a blade sharpener and sharpen them instead so they last me longer.

    Man, I removed the blades on tbis mower to sharpen. Ended up taking ALL THREE BOLTS out including the middle one!!! Now I cant get it back in, it only screws in about a third of the way, so I can't get the blades back on!! Any clue what to do!? You'd think they would have used a different bolt/different size if you weren't needing to remove it!!! I'm so mad. Thanks in advance if you or anyone knows.

    • @EverymanJWL
      @EverymanJWL 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alexyhuerta10 Thanks for the reply!!! I have someone mowing for me right now, but I am going to try and wrestle with that center bolt again soon so I can mow if I want to. I do remember it took a great deal of force to get it off so I am going to wrestle it again and see if I can torque it BACK ON by hand to 40ish. I'll try to remember to post back afterwards for anyone else experiencing this issue. I am an idiot for not paying more attention to the instructions BUT, it's still VERY POOR engineering to have 3 bolts, THE SAME SIZE, where the middle one APPEARS to have to come off to get the blades off. It's very misleading and like...WHY would that make it to production like that!!!

    • @EverymanJWL
      @EverymanJWL 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      UPDATE#1: After MORE wrestling, sweating, and ALOT of cussing. The middle bolt WILL NOT go back in more than 25% of the way. Nothing stopping it visually...it's strange. In fact, I got it so tight now it turns without the belt when trying to torque it on or off!!! SO even though I got it to where I was DETERMINED to use as much muscle and leverage as needed...it's stuck. SO MAD. I used this mower for 1 year....this happened the first time I took the blades off. F U HONDA!!!!! 🤡

    Talk into the mic please. If u wash the bottom of deck real well after u mow, let it dry for a couple of days, & spray with Fluid Film & let it soak a couple of days, it'll be protected AND grass clippings don't stick! 🤔 Gave u a 👍'd

    • @alexyhuerta10
      @alexyhuerta10  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciate the tips, for sure going to try the fluid film so that the deck doesn’t get grass clippings all stuck to it. And yeah my bad, the audio quality wasn’t the greatest. I couldn’t find my wireless mic so that it would pick up my voice better. But I found it now so the audio quality will be better in the next videos.
