    We start out by unboxing the Haley strategic flat pack 2.0 and taking a closer look at the product. On the back of the flat pack 2.0 it includes both the shoulder straps required to wear it as a backpack and the integrated strap to attach the flat pack 2.0 to a plate carrier.
    The flatpack’s claim to fame is the ability of the flat pack to sit flat or expand out. Through the use of zippers on the side of the haley flat pack zippers, you can open the backpack out to hold a lot more gear. In the collapsed configuration, I will say that you likely won’t hold much.
    The outside of the haley flat pack has large outer pocket and a thin pocket that can be accessed via a horizontal zipper
    Inside of the haley flatpack 2.0 is an entire loop backing so you can attach pouches on the inside and they all stay in place, regardless of configuration. The inside of the Haley Strategic flatpack also includes another horizontal zipper which hides a compartment for a hydration carrier. Included a hook and loop section to keep the hydration pouch in place. There is a also a concealed opening on the rear of the pack to route your drinking hose.
    The Haley Strategic DC3RM micro chest rig can also be integrated to work with the Haley flat pack 2.0 via the clips included with the flat pack 2.0. The Haley DC3RM micro is a front plate placard that can be used by itself, with the flat pack, or attached to a plate carrier.
    The micro chest rig comes as a completed set that includes a front pouch, two side pistol pouches, and a central mag carrier pocket. *Note - the D3CRM micro does not include the mag inserts and those need to be purchased separately.
    To expand your options, you can also attach expander wings if you want to add a radio or add a medical kit with the Ferro Concepts mini dangler.
    The Ferro Concepts mini dangler uses hook and look and can be attached to the DC3RM micro to make multiple versatile combinations. The mini dangler uses an easy to access front zipper so it is easy to access your gear.
    By combining the Ferro Concepts mini dangler and Haley Strategic Flat pack 2.0 and DC3RM micro you have an extremely versatile setup that can be used standalone or attached to a plate carrier for an array of varied mission sets.

    Would be cool of that pack could attach to a Molle rear Velcro placard then the pack attaches by just slamming it against the Velcro.
    To remove have a dog leash type tether that can wrap around any pole, tree or whatever that you attach to a protruding loop on the pack then simply walk away from the tether and it rips the pack off of your back……of course if there is no battle buddy to yank the pack off for you.
    You could also have some fairly accessible clips to secure the pack in addition to the Velcro.

    I think you ignored one of the benefits of the Flatpack, that it can be used as a pseudo compression sack. I have one of the original flatpacks attached to some cheap MOLLE chest rig panel with Kywi pouches. A sudden storm rolled in while I was attending a carbine course 2 years ago. When everyone else was running to their cars to get rain gear, I just pulled mine out of the compressed pack. You can fit a surprising amount of soft goods in there and still squeeze it down, allowing you to carry that stuff without having a bigger pack on your back bumping into things.

    • @ThinLineDefenseCo

      @@ThinLineDefenseCo It really didn't weigh anything with the rain gear in it. I actually put a loaded mag in it as well to help balance out the front placard.
      I also switch out the Kywi's for an admin pouch loaded with first aid gear when I go for day hikes, leaving the rain gear in the pack. Yes that tiny bag looks a little funny, but it's almost like carrying nothing at all when I'm climbing through crags and such.

    Silly question here, once the Flatpack is on the back of the plate carrier, how can you reach anything into the Flatpack? Wouldn't you have to take the whole armor set up off, just to get something in your Flatpack? With a Camelback installed in the Flatpack, I could reach water from the tube over the shoulder. Is it easier just for a buddy to open the Flatpack and grab more ammo, mags or whatever? I like this set up, but I just don't see how you could reach into the Flatpack, once it's on the back of your plate carrier.

    • @ThinLineDefenseCo
      @ThinLineDefenseCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, that's exactly some of our complaints...you really couldn't.
      Haley does make a clip system called the hitchhike that allows you to easily remove it from the top and side clips. I'm hoping to try this out soon with a crye spc.
      But yes, connected into the molle, the pack would have to be accessed by a buddy.

    I bought the flat pack because I wanted to convert my chest rig to an H harness anyway so might as well have the capability just in case you ever need it. If not just leave it flat and fits under a pack just fine.

    How much room do you want there to be in the flat pack? Plenty of room for what it’s designed for. Your not going to a sleepover with it at your sisters.

    Why is water on your back so bad?

    • @ThinLineDefenseCo
      @ThinLineDefenseCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Water is heavy....and annoying. We all need water but having to carry it with you for an entire outing is frustrating.
      Think of it like carrying a drink everywhere you go. Take a cup of water and just keep it with it you all day.
      It's a simple example but eventually you're gonna go...."why am I carrying this?? I should set this down"

      @@jordanphone3754 oh absolutely. I don't recommend it on your belt either.
      I recommend a bag that can be dropped or placed down so you can ditch it if needed.

    This guy seems to hate/complain about everything. Super sarcastic sounding.

    He seems to ignore the purpose in "purpose based" equipment.

      And I'm a guy... reviewing gear in his backyard. I wouldn't take my, or anyone's opinion as gospel. I say pretty clearly that it doesn't fit MY mission set but it may fit yours.
      Sitting in a vehicle with water strapped to your back is absolutely obnoxious. I show this stuff but I would remove it immediately.
