My pioneer flip out required a “ground switch” because it would need the ground switched from open to closed to play video each time the unit was powered on. Now I have a dual 2 din unit and all I had to do was ground the brake wire.... so simple! Going to be getting the xdvd179bt for my girls birthday and hoping it’s still just that simple.
Sorry folks this was almost 4 years ago! Didn’t know as much as we both do know lol. To sum up the video and all the failed attempts just take the brake wire from the back of the radio and find a good solid ground somewhere. Thank you all for the support! We will be posting more videos soon. @ minute mark 3:30 is where we finally figured out to ground the brake wire lol.
@@r.hernandez6152 if you ground the brake wire the radio will think youre constantly in park which will give you access to video watching features while you drive.
IMPORTANT !!!! While your end result seemed to work out ok, in your initial attempts you connected the ebrake ground to a switched power lead. This could have potentially fried your radio. I won't make hate comments about stupidity or not knowing what your doing, but just strongly suggest that in the future doing diligent research before trying to just figure it out by randomly making connections. There is so much info out there on the internet, you can find HOW TO's on anything...... before you make a potentially costly mistake.
What to do when with bypass or just simply grounding brake wire, dashboard red “BRAKE” warning light illuminated and chimes sounds beep, beep while driving (VSS wire cut, disconnected) 2017 Nissan Pathfinder original AV radio equipment.
I have the exact same Stereo I am putting in a 2001 Nissan Xterra. I used an aftermarket wiring harness adapter and wired color to color and it won't even turn on.....any ideas or tips?
Most radios just go minimum effort and simply do the parking brake thing for legal CYA. Pioneer is the only ones that want that on-off-on thing with the brake, and a simple rocker switch will bypass that. Hilariously, the actual manual says "Don't just ground the parking brake sense wire.", like they are telling how to do it without telling you how to do it.
Hey guys, I have an old-school 71 Blazer and I'm putting the dual head unit in, it doesn't have any wires coming from the parking brake. How would I go about being able to watch the DVD while driving? This doesn't have any wiring coming from the eme gency brake set up.
I believe you just solder the pink line into the black ground line straight off the back of the unit. No need to fiddle with the e brake wiring. Think ya got lucky and didn't smoke the unit. Edit - good video though

That's my thought.... I am planning on grounding the brake wire . What I'm trying to figure out is if this head unit requires on off and back on as some of the other units do. Guess I'll just try the ground, if not ill get a toggle switch hooked to ground. This video didn't help a bit

no problem.. thanks for watching!
So you take your brake while from the radio and splice that with the ground on the car?
Mine won’t play at all and I’m not even driving
Thanks so much it worked for me!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Having the same issue. It worked, thanks
Silenced Frost great! Glad to help!
👍👍 some model equiped by another "second layer lock"... GPS navigation lock 🚫 when the vehicle move > 5mph
Did u hook the ground and brake straight to frame or ground and brake to the cars harness ground..?
Either one would work. I would do it to the black wire because it seems easier than grounding it to chassis
So brake wire to ground nice 👍
Just join brake wire on unit to ground or chassis of radio. Emergency brake switches to ground when brake is applied
Thank you very much from morroco cuntry

I have mine grounded to medal and the dvd doesn’t work on my xdvd276bt... is there a specific location to ground it?
SL NY I think it might be newer models cause I tried it aswell and had the same result
Dillin schultz i may try to contact the company directly cause when I had a dual in the past I had to hook it up to a switch
SL NY if you find out let me know for sure, cause I have seen these 3 wired things on eBay for 12$ that you wire up and it bypasses it
Dillin schultz yeah I heard about that, I’m almost at the point that it’s our only option
SL NY yeah same costs about the same amount to hook a switch up anyway
This is what causes car accidents, watching movies while driving.
Some people do it for their kids on long road trips not themselves
