I'll guess that figure is probably in excess of 100k.!!!! Ren currently has 1.68m subs, and that figure just keeps going up. I discovered him in my dark hours, and he was just past the 1m. I'm not a musician. But I have still watched this almost daily since I first heard it a year and a half ago. I have seen this littlerally 100's of times, and I just teared up with you. Now THAT is powerful!
Ren's team was plugging and unplugging the lamps behind the wall.😅 Ren directs the videos. He and his videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey have been friends dince teenagers . The dynamic duo. They had three cameras set up and then the handheld at the end. Because his Lyme disease went untreated for 7 years, it did a lot of damage to his brain, organs a neueological systems. He NOW has MCAS, POTS and several othet things. Stem cell treatment in 2016-17 brought him half way back, but excaberrated some syptoms. He just returned from a18 minths of yreatmwnt in Canada and just announced he has to go back because he us still positive for the Bartonella infection and his health is slipping again. He speaks for the chronically ill. I wish yoy strength with your friend. Play Hi Ren for him.❤

Is there somewhere I can post about this topic where more people affected might see it? I myself had a very promising classical clarinet career that was sidelined for several years by a crippling case of Lyme disease and Bartonella undiagnosed for roughly 6-7 years.

If you want the Ren story in his own words, check out the 8 Chapters he put together out on his RensMakesStuff YT page. It is very emotional. His song Troubles summarizes those 8 chapters but to get full impact of the life he had, the 8 chapters are amazingly heartbreaking. Music saved him.

When I was cleaning it up for posting, the thoughts and emotions were coming back and I felt like there was 1000 more things to say about it. Excited to jump back in now that the experience is incubating a little.
I think that the reason there is an offset on the 2nd falsetto line is to illustrate his illness is affecting his creative life. Something is wrong. At the end, it's still there but he continues the melody further with it. He's singing with the lights flickering, showing that it's still affecting him but he has learned how to adapt to get his music out without it stopping him.
Well, self taught with a bachelors degree in contemporary musical production. . Ditto, Nicole's surprise was so unexpected and cool. I've seen singer/reactors come in on a harmony for a bar or two but not improvise a long harmonic run to the guitar.I tagged Ren to her Hi Ren on facebook. No comment or anything from him but he's got a legal issue with a producer, yet more health crisis and trying to rush a multi-part project through before he's to report back to his clinical care givers in Canada.
This doesn't just speak to musicians but any creative. I sing but my poetry is where I relate 😢 the dark voice is what tells me my work is never good enough. But it also keeps my ego in check. It's a necessary evil.
That's a good point. I can think of times when the ego gets out of control and effects my work in a negative way. Being outward facing as a creative is all about ups and downs. Just had a conversation with a colleague yesterday about the rampant substance abuse and difficulty dealing with this.
I, as a therapist, also experience this. Who am I to think I am good enough to help people work through their personal problems? Agree, too, it is a necessary evil. A therapist who feels s/he knows everything about helping people is not a good therapist at all.

Lord, you should both react to Ren's 'Suicide' together. It is haunting and utterly heartrending. Or rather, you react in order to 'Freckled Angels', 'Dominoes', 'Suicide' and 'For Joe'. That series is the most beautiful set of videos. There is a trail of tears leading to the last which is a eulogy to Ren's friend Joe.

There is sooooo much from Ren for you to get into, Charlie! He sings, raps, and plays multiple instruments. Yes, a modern day bard is the perfect title for Ren! He also, with many of his rap songs, will flip it and do an acoustic version of it - sometimes riding in back of a bus, or sitting on a mountain plateau overlooking a city. Animal Flow is one of his rap songs he does an acousitc version of. Then Murderer is part singing and part rapping and he has a wonderful acoustic version of that one that is distincly different than the original. To the point I honestly love the acoustic version even more than the original! He did a cover of Bittersweet Symphony, and so much more! He also has some collabs with Chincilla - Chalk Outlines and How To Be Me are both hauntingly beautiful and emotional, with amazing harmonies too - both are live one take videos! He also has a band called The Big Push. I CANNOT WAIT for you to dive more into Ren! And Charlie - thank you, thank you, thank you for suggesting Floor and Nightwish to Nicole! OMG he went off pitch or a half note to create dissonance which makes people feel uneasy. He plays the guitar in the same way using very dissonant chords. Remember at the end he sings it the same way that's how you know it's on purpose at first I thought it was a mistake as well.
Hi Charlie This is my favorite reaction to "Hi Ren" I have watched hundreds of reactions to this song, but both of you wear your feelings outside your skin and you are so sensitive like a newly torn bandaid. I found you, Nicole, a week or so ago on Ren! Charlie I've been following for quite some time, I just rarely comment (bc I tend to be long winded - this comment is a perfect case in point lol). I'm so excited for you both to dive more into his work, his collabs, and his band! Nicole, I'm super excited for you to also dive into the band Nightwish! I saw in the comments Charlie texted you about them and Floor! I'm sooo excited to hear your thoughts on her and all of their music! They have a vast catalog- active from 1996 to present. Their newest album just released in the last day or 2. Don't go there yet! Work your way through the Wacken 2013 live concert, Buenos Aires, Wembley 2015, Tampere, and others before you do anything off their brand new album. Live is almost always the way to go with Nightwish - they are one of the tightest live bands I've ever seen! There are a few lyric videos for them I'd suggest, especially off of their 2nd to newest album Human :||: Nature. I know you will, like Charlie, really appreciate their song Shoemaker - do the lyric video for that one just bc its a beautiful video but you could do a double with that and also do a live version after the lyric video! And i have no musical background.. at all.. but even though they sound the same the section at the end always sounds more triumphant or stronger.. more insync or maybe its just emotionally where im at after the hope section that makes it sound that way.

Great reaction, great to hear people exploring his work from different angles. REN is clearly a polymath and an empath. That inner demon is something we all have and when it surfaces society is geared towards treating the symptoms cause that’s where the money is. This is straight out of the opioid crisis the US experienced. You will find incredible social commentary in much of his work alongside some great fun music and all at a standard of artistry that marks him out as a once in a generation artist. Enjoy the ride.
Absolutely. I’ll be real with you, I took a break from TH-cam because of health and burnout. In that time I really dug deep into mental and nutritional health and it almost feels like fate to discover this message in Ren’s music upon returning. Thanks so much for this great insight

You know what's better than seeing a first reaction to this song. Is seeing someone's 2nd reaction, as they now get where the song is going and just allow themselves to feel the song. Seeing #NicoleMariaSings react again was just as good as your first time.
Some people think Ren's power is his music. I think it's how he uses music to get people to open up get them to drop their guard and share their real selves. He can get the most stoic people to open up (even if just a bit). It's a rare and beautiful thing which is why so many enjoy watching people discover Ren. There is an expression, a feeling of connection that is not only compelling but desperately needed in todays world.
Ren changed my way of thinking, he also made me see myself differently. It helped more than numerous years of therapy sessions. I finally felt seen and understood.

I don't know when it became a thing that artists are supposed to do something completely original, but it's kinda ridiculous. My very wise creative writing instructor called literature a dialogue where you're speaking to the past, present and future, just dropping your two cents into the conversation. Wow. 🤠 One of the best reactions to Hi Ren I've ever seen! Drove me to tears YET AGAIN! I'm a 65-year-old musician (trombone, guitar, vocals) who has played in orchestras, jazz combos, folk clubs and rock bands since I was 9 years old--and Ren has been a "North Star" for me in the last year and a half. He has helped me "soften and relax" in regard to my battling inner voices. Now my focus has shifted more toward visual art, but the battling voices (and Ren''s inspiration) have followed me there as well. Hi Charlie. Glad for you that you have discovered Ren and for me to have discovered your channel. Really looking forward to joining your discovery down Ren's rabbit hole. A classical guitarist recently called Bardcore; Gypsy Jazz. It makes sense to have had such a travelling history. Ren has no real genre, he is in bardcore mode sometimes, but will mix 2 or 3 or more different styles into one song. My suggestions would be, mostly, (not always, *How to be me you should see the live first) watch the official video first then top it off with the gem of the acoustic version. Like eating main course before dessert. This gives a chance to see how Ren wanted to visualise the song. Yes, the *Tale of Jenny and Screech (with Violet's tale) next. I loved it. Might be the best reaction to Hi Ren out there. Ren does not make Bardcore. He once called his music Bardcore but that was probably just a joke. Bardcore is a pretty weird very specific genre that has nothing to do with Ren's music. Hi Ren is too unique to put it into any genre and as you will see when you dicover Ren's catalogue he easily navigates many genres, combines them and gives them a unique touch. After Jenny&Screech, I would look into Losing It, Sick Boy, Chalk Outlines and Money Game 2+3 to discover his stylistic and thematic range.
This was a great reaction! BOTH of you! I've seen Nicole's reaction, so it was fun, engaging, and interesting to watch NICOLE watching YOU watching REN. Something to consider... You were so right in that we all, regardless of our passions or profession, experience some of the doubt and self-criticism that Ren portrays so vividly here. But I think it is much deeper. I have commented before that I see THREE 'audiences' who can feel a tremendous impact. One is the "everyone" audience. Those who fall into the description you gave of musicians and artists... and speakers and architects and teachers. The "usual or normal" folk. We alll share that "second voice" of fear and self-doubt. I think there is a second group... Those who are far more profoundly troubled. Those who deal with these internal, debilitating battles on a regular (even daily) basis. The third 'group' includes those who know and love someone who is profoundly troubled, but haven't learned a way to effectively empathize with them. I personally gained tremendous insight into the mind of someone special to me... and our relationship has improved greatly since seeing this masterpiece many times. As you're both Opera singers I as a Renegade/Ren fan recommend you both listen to Ren singing. Some suggestions to react to as singers yourselves would be. Fred Again, Wade in the Water, Back on 74/Message in a bottle, I Shot the Sheriff (the one where he's wearing red bracers).
Lovely authentic reaction! One minor point : the video is not one take. It was recorded live. The first couple of takes the sound messed up. They managed 4 good takes in the time they were allowed to be there. The landlord kicked them out as they didn't have permission and they were making too much noise after dark. Ren didn't think they had enough footage to get the video made and there was no chance to get more takes as he was moving to Canada for medical treatment soon after. Somehow he managed to piece together this masterpiece. I believe the sound was from one take, but if you watch closely you'll see minor continuity errors in the gown and lav mic.

Great interpretation and reaction on first watch, I’m subbed to hear your thoughts on more Ren. I liked the interpretation of the ego vs id (that was my impression too) that he portrays at the start, which then expands to the battle of good vs evil (despair vs hope) within us all, ends in the self-reflective spoken word poetry perfectly. It’s truly an introduction to who he truly is. Hi Ren. Best piece of art I’ve seen.
Loved the commentary, and genuine reactions. Something that struck me when talking about worrying about not doing something original, as it's all been done before, it makes me think about the reactions to "Hi Ren". Like, reactions aren't "original" per se, but everyone sees something differently in his work depending on their own lives and life experiences, and the commentary can be so strikingly different, despite the similarities. I'm currently just so engrossed in watching how different people interpret the emotions raised with this piece, in particular, and how they respond when seeing it for the first time. Reinforces the message he weaves into a lot of his music to relay that despite our differences, beneath it all, we're inherently all the same. PS new sub here ❤
It's weird, you totally nailed how I think about reactions as a whole. The value is in the commentary and sharing. It's both cathartic and enlightening to feel free to express the immediate thoughts when interpreting a piece of music, and all I can hope is that it can maybe add a dimension to the conversation about the work. 25:57 For me that half step difference between the oh-oh-oh parts, has a totally different feeling the first time (start of song) vs second time (end of song). To compare it to other music I’d say the opening for me is a bit like the theme from jaws: the o-o that’s announcing impending doom, the tension that arises when you see a shark dorsal fin rise above the water. The same thing at the end of the song on the other hand reminds me more of how radiohead uses that half step interval in Pyramid Song: I’m not quite sure if you’re familiar with that reference but let.s just say that it connects more to cyclical time, bossanova dance feel and overall pendulum swing theme you guys are talking about. So open for interpretation I’d say + even possible to interpret differently first time around versus second. Don’t know if my personal way of trying to explain how I experience it made any sense tho😅. Loved this reaction btw! 🤍
Im 57 yrs old, Ren most important artist in my opinion of this generation since Pink Floyd. He's an artist, rapper, philosopher, singer, performance artist...and like Floyd and Nightwish, all joints different, all excellent, and yet all clearly them.

The first Oh-choir (after the guitar-intro) is only the one side (IMHO). Although being insanely good, it's a bit forced, a little bit strained. The second Oh-choir is the two sides playing, singing and dancing together (again IMHO) - and it feels more free-flowing.. As soon as Ren - or any other for that matter - gets that one have to live with both sides, things will get better. But that, obviously, is easier said than done - and many sadly loose that battle. 😒
One of my favorite moments in hi Ren is when he revisits the whole oo oo oo (not sure what that is properly called except maybe yodeling?) part at the end only there's acceptance of dark Ren, the lights are going crazy flickering and the music is informed and improved by the integration of both sides of Ren ❤ so amazing to me ❤️ great reaction ❤ I cried every time I watched this for months and I watched it many many times a day and many many reaction videos ❤ Ren is Hardcore Bardcore ❤ tee-hee 😂

The lights!! According to an interview with Ren... The lights were done by a Tech switching one light off and on at the socket (English sockets have a switch to turn them off and on) the second light was turned off and on by the Tech simply by pulling out and pushing in the plug slightly which gives it a more subtle on/off and vibration in the light.
Ren pretty much lost his twenties because of the misdiagnosis. He spent a couple years in bed. He continued to make music when he had the energy. Music and creation and sharing his story saved his life. I’m here to watch your Ren journey!!❤

Ren directs the videos. He and his videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey have been friends dince teenagers . The dynamic duo. They had three cameras set up and then the handheld at the end.
Because his Lyme disease went untreated for 7 years, it did a lot of damage to his brain, organs a neueological systems. He NOW has MCAS, POTS and several othet things. Stem cell treatment in 2016-17 brought him half way back, but excaberrated some syptoms. He just returned from a18 minths of yreatmwnt in Canada and just announced he has to go back because he us still positive for the Bartonella infection and his health is slipping again. He speaks for the chronically ill.

It’s hard to not have gotten teary eyed during that triumphant rebound from the demon inside. So inspiring.
I think that the reason there is an offset on the 2nd falsetto line is to illustrate his illness is affecting his creative life. Something is wrong. At the end, it's still there but he continues the melody further with it. He's singing with the lights flickering, showing that it's still affecting him but he has learned how to adapt to get his music out without it stopping him.

Ditto, Nicole's surprise was so unexpected and cool. I've seen singer/reactors come in on a harmony for a bar or two but not improvise a long harmonic run to the guitar.I tagged Ren to her Hi Ren on facebook. No comment or anything from him but he's got a legal issue with a producer, yet more health crisis and trying to rush a multi-part project through before he's to report back to his clinical care givers in Canada.
This doesn't just speak to musicians but any creative. I sing but my poetry is where I relate 😢 the dark voice is what tells me my work is never good enough. But it also keeps my ego in check. It's a necessary evil.
That's a good point. I can think of times when the ego gets out of control and effects my work in a negative way. Being outward facing as a creative is all about ups and downs. Just had a conversation with a colleague yesterday about the rampant substance abuse and difficulty dealing with this.
I, as a therapist, also experience this. Who am I to think I am good enough to help people work through their personal problems? Agree, too, it is a necessary evil. A therapist who feels s/he knows everything about helping people is not a good therapist at all.

Lord, you should both react to Ren's 'Suicide' together. It is haunting and utterly heartrending. Or rather, you react in order to 'Freckled Angels', 'Dominoes', 'Suicide' and 'For Joe'. That series is the most beautiful set of videos. There is a trail of tears leading to the last which is a eulogy to Ren's friend Joe.

There is sooooo much from Ren for you to get into, Charlie! He sings, raps, and plays multiple instruments. Yes, a modern day bard is the perfect title for Ren! He also, with many of his rap songs, will flip it and do an acoustic version of it - sometimes riding in back of a bus, or sitting on a mountain plateau overlooking a city. Animal Flow is one of his rap songs he does an acousitc version of. Then Murderer is part singing and part rapping and he has a wonderful acoustic version of that one that is distincly different than the original. To the point I honestly love the acoustic version even more than the original! He did a cover of Bittersweet Symphony, and so much more! He also has some collabs with Chincilla - Chalk Outlines and How To Be Me are both hauntingly beautiful and emotional, with amazing harmonies too - both are live one take videos! He also has a band called The Big Push. I CANNOT WAIT for you to dive more into Ren! And Charlie - thank you, thank you, thank you for suggesting Floor and Nightwish to Nicole! OMG he went off pitch or a half note to create dissonance which makes people feel uneasy. He plays the guitar in the same way using very dissonant chords. Remember at the end he sings it the same way that's how you know it's on purpose at first I thought it was a mistake as well.

I have watched hundreds of reactions to this song, but both of you wear your feelings outside your skin and you are so sensitive like a newly torn bandaid.

My opinion is that, you artist are most in tune with your inner feelings, maybe because you shall show them through your art.

I found you, Nicole, a week or so ago on Ren! Charlie I've been following for quite some time, I just rarely comment (bc I tend to be long winded - this comment is a perfect case in point lol). I'm so excited for you both to dive more into his work, his collabs, and his band! Nicole, I'm super excited for you to also dive into the band Nightwish! I saw in the comments Charlie texted you about them and Floor! I'm sooo excited to hear your thoughts on her and all of their music! They have a vast catalog- active from 1996 to present. Their newest album just released in the last day or 2. Don't go there yet! Work your way through the Wacken 2013 live concert, Buenos Aires, Wembley 2015, Tampere, and others before you do anything off their brand new album. Live is almost always the way to go with Nightwish - they are one of the tightest live bands I've ever seen! There are a few lyric videos for them I'd suggest, especially off of their 2nd to newest album Human :||: Nature. I know you will, like Charlie, really appreciate their song Shoemaker - do the lyric video for that one just bc its a beautiful video but you could do a double with that and also do a live version after the lyric video! Just a thought. I'm just so excited for both of your journeys!!!! I'm here for all the rides! And i have no musical background.. at all.. but even though they sound the same the section at the end always sounds more triumphant or stronger.. more insync or maybe its just emotionally where im at after the hope section that makes it sound that way.

For vocals, his Fred Again Mashup and Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake show off some of his vocal abilities. (his composition plus a Ren original part in the middle on Back on 74). For societal issues, Sick Boi and the Money Game trilogy (part 2 lyric video is the only complete version). Part 3 is something to behold. (can be done separately). For raw, creative storytelling, Tales of Jenny and Screech Trilogy (the 13 minute video puts them all together, in the right order). This one should be done in one sitting.

Great reaction, great to hear people exploring his work from different angles. REN is clearly a polymath and an empath. That inner demon is something we all have and when it surfaces society is geared towards treating the symptoms cause that’s where the money is. This is straight out of the opioid crisis the US experienced. You will find incredible social commentary in much of his work alongside some great fun music and all at a standard of artistry that marks him out as a once in a generation artist. Enjoy the ride.
Absolutely. I’ll be real with you, I took a break from TH-cam because of health and burnout. In that time I really dug deep into mental and nutritional health and it almost feels like fate to discover this message in Ren’s music upon returning. Thanks so much for this great insight

You know what's better than seeing a first reaction to this song. Is seeing someone's 2nd reaction, as they now get where the song is going and just allow themselves to feel the song. Seeing #NicoleMariaSings react again was just as good as your first time.

Some people think Ren's power is his music. I think it's how he uses music to get people to open up get them to drop their guard and share their real selves. He can get the most stoic people to open up (even if just a bit). It's a rare and beautiful thing which is why so many enjoy watching people discover Ren. There is an expression, a feeling of connection that is not only compelling but desperately needed in todays world.
Ren changed my way of thinking, he also made me see myself differently. It helped more than numerous years of therapy sessions. I finally felt seen and understood.

I like the metaphor's the other listener put forward; From just a musical perspective though I like to think of the alternate chord progressions and scales it suggests.

Wow. 🤠 One of the best reactions to Hi Ren I've ever seen! Drove me to tears YET AGAIN! I'm a 65-year-old musician (trombone, guitar, vocals) who has played in orchestras, jazz combos, folk clubs and rock bands since I was 9 years old--and Ren has been a "North Star" for me in the last year and a half. He has helped me "soften and relax" in regard to my battling inner voices. Now my focus has shifted more toward visual art, but the battling voices (and Ren''s inspiration) have followed me there as well. Thank you for starting my day off on the right foot!👞 (First time I ever used a shoe emoji lol.)
Oh the places you are going to go! Yes, Ren is self taught, but he has an innate sense of music and his art. I also think that part of the rawness of his authenticity and vulnerability is because he isn’t constrained by the “ should dos” according to the “ rules”.

A classical guitarist recently called Bardcore; Gypsy Jazz. It makes sense to have had such a travelling history. Ren has no real genre, he is in bardcore mode sometimes, but will mix 2 or 3 or more different styles into one song.
My suggestions would be, mostly, (not always, *How to be me you should see the live first) watch the official video first then top it off with the gem of the acoustic version. Like eating main course before dessert. This gives a chance to see how Ren wanted to visualise the song.
Yes, the *Tale of Jenny and Screech (with Violet's tale) next.
Then either *Money Game Trilogy (not all at once). The "She sells sea shells..." will make more sense after seeing *Money Game 2.
If you want to hear him sing, either his *Fred Again mashup (remix of songs from an EDM artist Ren admires) or his mix of (the Jungle song) *Back on 74/Message in a Bottle (Police/Sting).

Ren does not make Bardcore. He once called his music Bardcore but that was probably just a joke. Bardcore is a pretty weird very specific genre that has nothing to do with Ren's music.
Hi Ren is too unique to put it into any genre and as you will see when you dicover Ren's catalogue he easily navigates many genres, combines them and gives them a unique touch. After Jenny&Screech, I would look into Losing It, Sick Boy, Chalk Outlines and Money Game 2+3 to discover his stylistic and thematic range.
This was a great reaction! BOTH of you! I've seen Nicole's reaction, so it was fun, engaging, and interesting to watch NICOLE watching YOU watching REN. Something to consider... You were so right in that we all, regardless of our passions or profession, experience some of the doubt and self-criticism that Ren portrays so vividly here. But I think it is much deeper. I have commented before that I see THREE 'audiences' who can feel a tremendous impact. One is the "everyone" audience. Those who fall into the description you gave of musicians and artists... and speakers and architects and teachers. The "usual or normal" folk. We alll share that "second voice" of fear and self-doubt. I think there is a second group... Those who are far more profoundly troubled. Those who deal with these internal, debilitating battles on a regular (even daily) basis. The third 'group' includes those who know and love someone who is profoundly troubled, but haven't learned a way to effectively empathize with them. I personally gained tremendous insight into the mind of someone special to me... and our relationship has improved greatly since seeing this masterpiece many times. With what you shared of your OWN life, you can appreciate what I mean. As Ren said, I have learned to soften. Okay, I'm done rambling. I was very impressed with you both. I'll repeat myself... Lovely authentic reaction! One minor point : the video is not one take. It was recorded live. The first couple of takes the sound messed up. They managed 4 good takes in the time they were allowed to be there. The landlord kicked them out as they didn't have permission and they were making too much noise after dark. Ren didn't think they had enough footage to get the video made and there was no chance to get more takes as he was moving to Canada for medical treatment soon after. Somehow he managed to piece together this masterpiece. I believe the sound was from one take, but if you watch closely you'll see minor continuity errors in the gown and lav mic.

13:57 - The song was originally planned to end there. And Ren would kill himself. He played it to a friend and they basically said "man, that's depressing!" So Ren added the final section.
Great interpretation and reaction on first watch, I’m subbed to hear your thoughts on more Ren.
I liked the interpretation of the ego vs id (that was my impression too) that he portrays at the start, which then expands to the battle of good vs evil (despair vs hope) within us all, ends in the self-reflective spoken word poetry perfectly. It’s truly an introduction to who he truly is. Hi Ren.

Something that struck me when talking about worrying about not doing something original, as it's all been done before, it makes me think about the reactions to "Hi Ren".
Like, reactions aren't "original" per se, but everyone sees something differently in his work depending on their own lives and life experiences, and the commentary can be so strikingly different, despite the similarities.
I'm currently just so engrossed in watching how different people interpret the emotions raised with this piece, in particular, and how they respond when seeing it for the first time.
Reinforces the message he weaves into a lot of his music to relay that despite our differences, beneath it all, we're inherently all the same.

It's weird, you totally nailed how I think about reactions as a whole. The value is in the commentary and sharing. It's both cathartic and enlightening to feel free to express the immediate thoughts when interpreting a piece of music, and all I can hope is that it can maybe add a dimension to the conversation about the work. 25:57 For me that half step difference between the oh-oh-oh parts, has a totally different feeling the first time (start of song) vs second time (end of song). To compare it to other music I’d say the opening for me is a bit like the theme from jaws: the o-o that’s announcing impending doom, the tension that arises when you see a shark dorsal fin rise above the water. The same thing at the end of the song on the other hand reminds me more of how radiohead uses that half step interval in Pyramid Song: I’m not quite sure if you’re familiar with that reference but let.s just say that it connects more to cyclical time, bossanova dance feel and overall pendulum swing theme you guys are talking about. So open for interpretation I’d say + even possible to interpret differently first time around versus second. Don’t know if my personal way of trying to explain how I experience it made any sense tho😅.

Im 57 yrs old, Ren most important artist in my opinion of this generation since Pink Floyd. He's an artist, rapper, philosopher, singer, performance artist...and like Floyd and Nightwish, all joints different, all excellent, and yet all clearly them.

The first Oh-choir (after the guitar-intro) is only the one side (IMHO). Although being insanely good, it's a bit forced, a little bit strained. The second Oh-choir is the two sides playing, singing and dancing together (again IMHO) - and it feels more free-flowing.. As soon as Ren - or any other for that matter - gets that one have to live with both sides, things will get better. But that, obviously, is easier said than done - and many sadly loose that battle. 😒

One of my favorite moments in hi Ren is when he revisits the whole oo oo oo (not sure what that is properly called except maybe yodeling?) part at the end only there's acceptance of dark Ren, the lights are going crazy flickering and the music is informed and improved by the integration of both sides of Ren ❤ so amazing to me ❤️ great reaction ❤ I cried every time I watched this for months and I watched it many many times a day and many many reaction videos ❤

According to an interview with Ren...
The lights were done by a Tech switching one light off and on at the socket (English sockets have a switch to turn them off and on) the second light was turned off and on by the Tech simply by pulling out and pushing in the plug slightly which gives it a more subtle on/off and vibration in the light.
Ren pretty much lost his twenties because of the misdiagnosis. He spent a couple years in bed. He continued to make music when he had the energy. Music and creation and sharing his story saved his life. I’m here to watch your Ren journey!!❤
